Chapter 227 Lucas Missing
When Emma arrived at the Russell Villa, she pushed open the door and was stunned by the chaos inside. The place was a wreck, with furniture flipped over and stuff scattered everywhere, like a tornado had blown through.
"Lucas! Where are you?" Emma shouted, her voice echoing through the empty house. No answer. Panic surged through her as she frantically searched for any sign of Lucas, but found nothing.
"How could this happen?" Emma's heart tightened as she realized the gravity of the situation.
The Russell Villa was usually bustling with people—the security guard at the gate, the cook in the kitchen, the housekeeper tidying up, and Anna, who had recently moved back in.
Lucas was always safe at home; there was no way he could be alone.
So, how did Lucas disappear?
Emma quickly dialed George's number.
When he answered, her voice trembled, "George, Lucas is missing!"
"What?" George's voice turned serious and tense. "Where are you now?"
"I'm at your house," Emma said, her voice filled with urgency and helplessness. "I've searched the entire place. He's not here!"
"I'll be there right away." George hung up and drove to the Russell Villa as fast as he could.
Meanwhile, Emma continued to search the house for Lucas. She checked every room, but no matter how hard she looked, there was no trace of him.
"I can't wait any longer!" Emma decided to go out and look for Lucas. Just as she was about to step outside, a chill ran down her spine, and she felt a sudden sense of dread.
At that moment, she heard a faint noise from the shadows. Emma's senses went on high alert. She turned around and saw a large man step out of the darkness, wearing a mask.
The man grabbed Emma, covering her mouth and nose.
Emma felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, and the world around her blurred as she lost consciousness.
When Emma woke up, she found herself in a dark, damp basement. The cold concrete walls surrounded her, and the air was thick with the smell of mold. Her hands and feet were bound, and she couldn't move. Her mouth was taped shut.
Emma was now certain that Lucas had been harmed.
And the person who hurt Lucas was the same person who kidnapped her.
There was no doubt in her mind that the mastermind was Anna.
George rushed home and pushed open the door to the Russell Villa. The smell of rust hit him, making him wrinkle his nose.
The house was dimly lit, with the curtains drawn tight, and the atmosphere was oppressive. The furniture was overturned, and items were scattered everywhere, as if a fierce struggle had taken place.
"Isabella! Lucas!" George shouted, his eyes scanning the room. He suddenly noticed a pool of fresh blood on the floor, and his heart raced as he quickened his pace.
He entered the living room and saw scratch marks on the walls, evidence of a violent struggle.
The sofa was overturned, and the vase on the coffee table was shattered, its pieces scattered across the floor, highlighting the chaos. Fear gripped George's heart as he thought, 'has something happened to Isabella too?'
Just then, he heard a faint groan. Following the sound, he found Anna slumped on the floor, her arm wrapped in a blood-soaked cloth. Her face was pale, and she looked dazed.
Her eyes were filled with pain and anger, as if she had just been through a fierce battle.
"Anna!" George ran over, concern in his voice. "What happened? Where's Lucas? What did you do to Isabella?"
"Isabella... she kidnapped Lucas!" Anna's voice was weak but determined. "She wanted to kill Lucas. I tried to stop her, but she had a knife. I couldn't fight her off, and I got hurt."
"What are you talking about?" George was shocked, staring at Anna in disbelief.
He couldn't imagine Isabella doing such a thing. Despite Anna's severe injuries, he remained skeptical of her story. She had lied too many times before.
"Believe me, George. Lucas is my only son. I would never hurt him!" Anna struggled to stand, her face contorted in pain. "It was Isabella! She took Lucas right in front of me. She said she wanted us to lose our child forever! She's taking revenge on me! We can't let her win!"
"I don't believe you," George said coldly. He looked around the room, trying to find any clues.
The blood on the floor was alarming, filling him with unease.
"Anna! Stop making up lies. I'm giving you one last chance. Tell me what really happened between you two," George demanded, his voice authoritative and unyielding.
"I already told you, I was trying to save Lucas!" Anna's voice was filled with desperation. "I tried to stop Isabella, but I was no match for her! She had help, and they overpowered me! Isabella wants to kill Lucas and took him away! Why won't you believe me?"
Anna's voice was filled with anger and helplessness, her eyes brimming with tears, looking extremely aggrieved.
"I have no reason to hurt Lucas!" Anna's voice was desperate, her eyes shining with determination. "I'm his mother! I just want him to be safe!"
George's suspicion of Anna deepened. Years ago, Anna had slashed Lucas's face. Now, she could very well kill him.
Anna was ruthless; she was capable of anything.
"I'll find Isabella and get to the bottom of this myself," George said coldly. He couldn't accuse anyone based on Anna's word. He had to uncover the truth.
George called Joshua. "Joshua, find out where Lucas and Isabella are, as quickly as possible!"
"Understood, Mr. Russell." Joshua hung up and immediately began his search.
However, despite checking surveillance footage, sending out search parties, and even looking into the black market, Joshua found no trace of them.
Isabella and Lucas had vanished without a trace.
