Chapter 122 You Like Me
Hearing George and Charles chat, Emma figured out where George was taking her.
Even though she was ready to head to The Russell Mansion, now wasn't the right time.
She planned to wait until the 50th anniversary of the Russell Group to confront Charles. That's when she'd make her move.
In the whole Russell family, besides Lucas, only Charles had been kind to her.
Emma's revenge would inevitably affect Charles.
'Sorry, Grandpa Charles,' Emma thought, apologizing to Charles in her mind.
But she wasn't about to let anyone who hurt her or her child off the hook. She came back to shake things up in Lakeside Haven.
The car cruised down the road. On one side were fancy seaside villas, and on the other, the dark sea. Occasionally, a few fishermen strolled along the beach.
The road looked more and more familiar to Emma. She knew they were close to The Russell Mansion.
"Mr. Russell, can you stop the car?" Emma asked.
George replied, "What's up? Didn't you agree to go for a drive with me?"
"Yeah, but I just wanted a drive, not to meet your family," Emma said.
"How do you know this is the way to my house?" George asked, keeping his cool.
Emma grinned. "I'm not dumb. You made it pretty clear on the phone earlier. I just think we're not close enough for me to meet your family. Plus, you interrupted your proposal today. It's even more awkward for me to show up. For my own sake, we shouldn't see each other anymore."
George's whole demeanor turned icy at Emma's last words. He suddenly hit the brakes.
Emma lurched forward, the seatbelt pulling tight.
"Ms. Taylor, do you really have to say such harsh things to me? Your actions and words don't match," George said with a faint smile. "Ms. Taylor, you like me."
Emma was taken aback by George's bluntness.
"This relationship is wrong. Mr. Russell, maybe you're great, but you're not the one I like. My boyfriend asked me out for dinner tonight. Can I go now?" Emma replied.
"I'll take you," George insisted.
"No need, you should handle your own stuff first."
"Wherever you're going, I'll take you," George said with authority.
This wasn't a suggestion; it was a command.
Emma knew it was tough to get a cab here, so she agreed to ride with George. It was convenient and would delay him getting home.
She casually mentioned a place in the opposite direction. George's lips curled into a faint, ambiguous smile. They rode in silence.
When Emma got out of the car, she made their relationship clear again.
"I don't want your fiancée to misunderstand us, so don't come looking for me again. Your presence has caused me a lot of trouble."
Emma walked away without looking back, but she knew George was standing by the car, watching her leave.
After walking a few dozen feet away, Emma pretended to stop, slightly turning her head to meet George's gaze. She acted a bit flustered and quickly walked away.
But as she turned around, a mocking smile crept onto her lips. 'George, keep chasing me. Without you, how can I get my revenge?' she thought.
George was stunned by Emma's look. That panicked expression, like a frightened deer, was so much like Emma.
'Emma, you're really hateful, leaving without a word. You made me lose you forever. Now someone so similar to you has appeared. Emma, what do you want me to do to satisfy you?' George thought.
In the following days, George was confined to The Russell Mansion as punishment. When he reappeared in public, his aura was even colder.
"Lucas got hospitalized for pneumonia? How are you taking care of him?" George's aura instantly turned icy.
Two days later, he answered Anna's call for the first time and heard the news.
He said, "I'm going to the hospital now."
In the hospital corridor, the smell of disinfectant filled the air, and the white walls looked particularly glaring under the lights.
Anna, dressed in fashionable clothes and high heels, walked with a crisp sound. She smiled sinisterly.
Lucas was hospitalized, and she could use this chance to see George.
'Lucas, you're really a burden,' she mocked inwardly, feeling more and more that Lucas's existence was a threat to her.
The older Lucas got, the more he resembled Emma, filling her with jealousy and anger.
She coldly watched Lucas from outside the ward, contemplating whether to find an opportunity to get rid of him.
Meanwhile, Emma walked into the hospital with Seraphine.
Seraphine wore a pink dress, looking like an angel. Emma was at the front desk handling vaccination paperwork, her head down filling out various forms. Seraphine quietly slipped into the corridor.
"Seraphine, come back!" When Emma turned around, Seraphine was nowhere to be seen. Her heart tightened, and she ran towards the corridor.
Seraphine looked around the corridor and was suddenly attracted by Anna.
Anna immediately recognized Seraphine as Isabella's daughter. Seeing the face so similar to Isabella's, she felt a wave of malice surge in her chest.
"You're Isabella's daughter, right?" Anna pretended to be friendly, a cold smile on her lips.
Seraphine didn't know Anna and had never seen her before. But she instinctively felt a bit scared, stepping back slightly, her eyes showing wariness.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"I'm a friend of your mom." Anna's voice was gentle but carried a hint of threat. "Do you know? Your mom is a bad woman. She made my fiancé abandon me."
"I don't believe you!" Seraphine shook her head firmly, feeling a strong aversion to Anna.
"You don't believe me? Then I'll show you how bad she is." A vicious glint flashed in Anna's eyes as she prepared to harm Seraphine.
