Chapter 283 Accomplice

George vividly remembered how Sophia and Henry had insulted and belittled Emma.

He had woken up from countless nightmares, each time leaving a sharp pain in his heart whenever Emma was humiliated. He regretted not standing up for her.

All he could do was atone with his actions, even if it meant sacrificing the entire Russell Group. If Emma wanted it, why not give it to her?

The planning department at the Russell Group was unaware of the backstory. They were still reeling from their failure, feeling the sting of having their hard work stolen and their success snatched away. It was a bitter pill to swallow.

Their spirits didn't lift until the secretarial department delivered George's message, reassuring them not to blame themselves and promising everyone a bonus.

In stark contrast, the delegation from the Bright Group was celebrating openly at a hotel owned by the Russell Group.

The Bright family held a prestigious position in Aetheris, with abundant resources. Their success not only dealt a blow to the Russell Group but also brought them significant benefits.

Before the celebration banquet began, Juliet called Emma. "Ms. Taylor, you wanna join our victory party? We owe a lot of our success to you."

Emma replied indifferently, "No thanks. Let's keep our relationship under wraps."

Juliet chuckled softly. "After such a big deal, you're still not done? Looks like you've got bigger plans."

"That's none of your concern, Ms. Bright."

Juliet said, "How can it not be? We're partners."

"Not anymore."

"That remains to be seen. Looking forward to our next collaboration, Ms. Taylor." Juliet added.

After hanging up, Juliet's face lit up with a smile. The partner Elizabeth had introduced was indeed intriguing. Juliet was eager to see how Isabella would wreak havoc on the Russell Group.

At the same time, she felt fortunate that the Bright family didn't have someone like George, who was blinded by love. The Bright family had come a long way and couldn't afford such recklessness.

Juliet looked at Emma's number on her phone and had a sudden inspiration. She typed out a message: [Small skirmishes won't hurt the Russell Group's foundation. Infiltrating from within is the most efficient. Need my help?]

[No need.]

Emma's reply was swift, but Juliet's suggestion hit the mark. Emma and Michael had studied the Russell Group's shares. George held 70% of the shares, and her goal was to take them from him, leaving him with nothing.

Juliet's idea was indeed good. Personally infiltrating the Russell Group was much easier than planting a spy.

However, before making any big moves, she needed to discuss it with Michael.

As night fell, Emma left her boutique and drove to Michael's house.

Since marrying George, she hadn't been to this house. To avoid suspicion, she hadn't even seen Seraphine. Emma felt a deep guilt towards Seraphine and Michael. Whenever she lay beside George, she missed Michael's tenderness and Seraphine's sweetness.

For Seraphine's sake, Emma's revenge plan had to speed up.

Emma didn't know George had come to pick her up from work. He followed her car from a distance, hiding at a street corner.

Emma reached Michael's house and gently rang the bell. When the door opened, Michael's warm smile, like sunshine, instantly dispelled her gloom. He reached out, gently pulling her into his arms. "You're here. I've been waiting for you."

At that moment, Emma felt a long-lost sense of security, and all her worries seemed to vanish. She responded to Michael's embrace, feeling a surge of warmth. However, George, watching from a distance, saw everything.

'She doesn't love me anymore,' George thought, his heart tearing apart, jealousy burning within him. He couldn't bear the sight of Emma looking so happy in Michael's arms while he was left to nurse his wounds alone.

George knew their relationship was over.

When she loved him deeply, he didn't cherish it;

When she compromised for him repeatedly, he didn't cherish it;

When she endured pain for him, he didn't cherish it.

Now that he had lost her completely, he realized too late the depth of his feelings for her. But now, he could only watch as she grew closer to someone else.

The night breeze blew gently, taking away the last bit of warmth from his heart, but it couldn't soothe his pain.

He knew he deserved this suffering.

Then he muttered to himself, "Emma, whatever you want to do, I'll be with you."

Emma enjoyed a rare moment of family time with Seraphine and Michael. After putting Seraphine to bed, she shared her plan with Michael.

As the night deepened, the wind howled outside, and snowflakes sparkled under the streetlights. Emma sat in Michael's cozy living room, the fireplace casting a warm glow.

The fire crackled, the flames dancing among the logs, releasing a faint pine scent. The firelight softened Emma's features. She nestled in the corner of the sofa, wrapped in a soft blanket, feeling the warmth from the fireplace, a sense of comfort washing over her.

"Emma, you've been through so much."

Michael sat beside her, holding a cup of hot cocoa, which he gently handed to her. Emma took the cup, feeling its warmth, a wave of warmth spreading through her heart.

She took a sip, the rich sweetness blossoming on her tongue, dispelling the cold within her. A satisfied smile spread across her face, a long-lost happiness filling her heart.

"It's okay. For our future, I'll do anything."

Emma rested her head on Michael's shoulder, feeling the warmth and security he exuded. At that moment, all her worries and pressures seemed to melt away in the warmth.

The fire danced before them, casting their warm shadows. Emma closed her eyes, savoring the peace and warmth of the moment. She felt deeply grateful that fate had brought Michael into her life, allowing her to experience such warmth on this cold winter night.

"I've always loved moments like this," Emma said softly. "When I'm with you, I always feel so at ease. I hope we can spend every winter like this together."

"Of course, I'll always be with you."

Emma didn't see the deep red flames reflected in Michael's eyes.
