Chapter 250 The Murderer

The little boy trailed behind Indigo and Beatrix, his eyes wide with confusion and fear. He kept looking around, clearly searching for Coralie. "Where's Coralie? I wanna find Coralie!" His innocent voice tugged at Emma's heart.

"She's gone," Emma said, tears streaming down her face, guilt weighing heavily on her.

Emma always carried candy with her. She reached into her pocket, pulled out a gummy, and placed it in the boy's hand.

"Coralie said this was your favorite," she said softly.

"Thanks," the boy replied, a small smile breaking through as he unwrapped the candy.

Meanwhile, Indigo and Beatrix had just heard from the paramedics that Coralie had passed away. They were in shock. Just that morning, she had been happily saying goodbye to them. How could she be gone in just one day?

Why did this happen?

"She accidentally ingested poison," the doctor explained.

"Poison? How the hell could there be poison at her workplace?" Indigo shouted. He turned around and saw Emma giving the boy a piece of candy, his eyes narrowing with suspicion and anger.

"Did you poison her?" Beatrix accused, her eyes blazing with hatred.

Emma didn't respond. Coralie's death was indeed her fault.

Seeing her silence, Indigo assumed she was admitting it. He angrily shoved Emma, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground. She lay there quietly, not fighting back or defending herself.

They charged at Emma, their faces twisted with grief and rage, their hatred so intense it seemed like they wanted to tear her apart.

Beatrix trembled as she pointed at Emma, her voice sharp as a knife, "You murderer! You killed my daughter!" Her voice echoed through the hospital corridor, filled with endless sorrow and anger. Indigo followed closely, his fists clenched, radiating fury, ready to attack at any moment.

Just as they were about to reach her, several medical staff rushed over, forcibly restraining them and preventing the violence from escalating.

"Calm down! This is a hospital!" the staff sternly warned, pulling Indigo and Beatrix back, trying to calm them down.

Emma sat on the floor, her hands limp at her sides, guilt washing over her like a tidal wave, nearly drowning her. She was a mother too; so she understood the pain of losing a daughter unexpectedly.

"I'm sorry!" she choked out, her voice barely audible, filled with self-reproach and helplessness.

She wanted to explain but didn't know how to start.

What could she say?

Someone else had poisoned her, but she was lucky enough to escape, so Coralie ended up dying instead.

How could she say that?

"She's the murderer who killed my daughter!" Beatrix cried, her face wet with tears, "I want her in jail! Call the police!"

"Yes! Call the police! I'll call them right now!" A surge of hatred exploded in Emma's chest. She swore she would make the real culprit pay.

Her employee, her responsibility. No one's life should be lost in vain.

Several police officers quickly arrived at the scene, starting to question witnesses and gather evidence.

After a preliminary investigation, they found that Lyanna had visited the black market a few days before the incident.

Further investigation confirmed that Lyanna had purchased several substances, including a controlled neurotoxin. In small doses, it could cause nausea and vomiting, but in large doses, it could lead to respiratory failure and cardiac arrest, which was what had poisoned Coralie.

The police found some remaining samples of the poison at Lyanna's home. Toxicology tests confirmed that the substance matched the toxin found in Coralie's body. Finally, the police opened a case against Lyanna for premeditated murder, and the truth began to surface.

Once the investigation was clear, the police moved to arrest Lyanna.

But neither at her home nor at her workplace, The Stuart Villa, could they find Lyanna. She had clearly gone into hiding.

Lyanna had become a dangerous element, so they needed to find her immediately.

Since Lyanna's target was Isabella, the police quickly formed a special team to monitor Isabella's movements.

The team members split into groups, secretly following Isabella at her home, workplace, and other frequent locations. By keeping an eye on Isabella, they hoped to track down Lyanna.

Everyone believed Lyanna would come back to kill Isabella!

Lately, Emma often felt like she was being watched, as if an invisible shadow was following her. Although she had no concrete evidence, the feeling grew stronger.

Emma had a hunch that Lyanna might be secretly monitoring her.

This was too good an opportunity to pass up.

Emma decided to give George a chance to play the hero.

Although she knew George would definitely agree, she still needed to put on a show.

Then, Emma arranged to meet George at a café.

She pretended to be fragile, a hint of fear in her eyes, sitting at the table, her fingers unconsciously tracing the edge of her coffee cup. George noticed her unusual demeanor as soon as he walked in, his brow furrowing slightly as he sat down in front of her.

"What's wrong? You don't look well," George asked with concern, worry evident in his eyes.

Emma looked up, her eyes glistening with tears, her voice trembling slightly, "George, I feel like someone has been following me lately. I don't know what to do." She deliberately emphasized her words, trying to make George more anxious.

"Is it Lyanna?" George naturally knew about Lyanna's poisoning incident, but he hadn't expected her to dare follow Isabella.

His expression instantly became serious. Isabella wasn't someone who scared easily; her behavior must mean she was genuinely afraid.

"I don't know," Emma whispered, her voice barely audible, tears welling up in her eyes, "I'm really scared, George."

George's heart tightened. He immediately reached out and held Emma's hand, his voice firm, "Don't worry, I'll protect you. No matter what happens, I'll be by your side."

Emma felt a surge of satisfaction, knowing her plan had worked.

She smiled slightly, gratitude shining in her eyes, "Thank you, George. I feel much safer knowing you're here."

To ensure Isabella's safety, George decided to take more stringent protective measures.

He arranged for several bodyguards to patrol around Emma's store, ensuring her safety from any threats. The bodyguards remained vigilant, giving Emma an unprecedented sense of security.

However, Emma felt a bit dissatisfied. With bodyguards around, George wouldn't have the chance to get hurt.

It seemed she needed to create more opportunities for George.
