Chapter 363 Blacklist
Sophia and Henry exchanged a look, their eyes filled with a mix of emotions and guilt.
In the past, they mostly dealt with George and rarely interacted with Michael, who wasn't very prominent in the Russell family.
But they knew George treated Emma poorly.
Over the past few days, they had seen Michael personally taking care of Emma with a tenderness and consideration they had never seen from George. Michael had also mentioned that Seraphine was his and Emma's daughter.
If Emma was willing to have a child with Michael, it must mean she had feelings for him.
Emma had previously encountered significant suffering. If there was a man willing to love her deeply, they were naturally willing to accept Michael. Sophia took the initiative, "Emma, Michael is Seraphine's father. It's only natural for him to live with you. Why not let him move in? It would be lively and he could help take care of you and Seraphine."
Emma hesitated and glanced at Michael. "Would you be okay with that?"
"I'd love nothing more." Michael quickly replied.
"Alright, then let's all go back to Mom and Dad's place together."
They got into the car, and the atmosphere was harmonious, though Michael's gaze occasionally grew intense. He glanced down at the phone hidden in his pocket—it was Emma's phone. Emma didn't know that several contacts related to George were now blocked on her phone.
Since Emma didn't want to remember anything about George, he would help her with that.
The VIP hospital room was empty, even the curtains had been neatly put away, and all traces of Emma's stay had been cleaned up. George stood in the middle of the empty room, his anxiety evident. He caught the doctor's words, "She was discharged this morning. Her family came to pick her up."
"Family?" George frowned, and Michael's face flashed through his mind. He turned and left the hospital, driving straight to Emma's apartment. But the door was locked, and no one answered no matter how hard he knocked.
He drove to Michael's villa, then back to the shop on Crystal Street, looking for Emma. But it was as if Emma had never been there. Even the employees clearly told him, "Emma hasn't been to the shop in a long time."
George's fists slowly clenched as he stood outside the shop on Crystal Street, looking utterly lost.
His mind kept replaying past scenes—her gentle gaze, her cold back, her tearful face pushing his hand away. Now, she was left, as if she had been erased from the world.
This suffocating sense of despair kept him awake at night. Back home, his insomnia worsened. When he closed his eyes, he saw her face; when he opened them, he was surrounded by emptiness. He leaned on the couch, his eyes tired but deeply furrowed. Emma had left silently once again, and she probably had truly given up on him.
Fine, he would respect all of Emma's decisions.
George's increasingly haggard appearance finally made Joshua unable to stand by any longer. He knew George's obsession with Emma and understood the complicated feelings and grudges between them. He couldn't bear to see George continue to spiral, so he used all his resources to track down Emma.
When Joshua finally found Emma, she was walking in the garden with Seraphine. Not far away, Sophia and Henry were chatting in a gazebo, and Michael was quietly watching Emma. They looked like a warm, harmonious family.
Joshua approached Emma cautiously, "Ms. Jones, I need to talk to you urgently."
Emma stopped and looked at him in confusion, "Sir, do I know you?"
Joshua was taken aback, "You don't remember me? I'm Joshua. I know about your situation with Mr. George Russell." He spoke cautiously, not wanting to alarm her.
Emma frowned slightly and shook her head, "I'm sorry, I don't know you, and I don't know who Mr. George Russell is. You must have the wrong person."
Joshua was momentarily speechless.
He couldn't believe Emma didn't recognize him, but her eyes were so clear and innocent, it didn't seem like she was pretending. He hesitated.
At that moment, Michael quickly walked over and stood in front of Emma, coldly saying to Joshua, "If you have something to say, say it to me. Don't bother her."
Joshua frowned, clearly annoyed, "Michael, are you just going to keep her to yourself? Mr. George Russell is in a bad state, and you know what he needs!"
"His state, no matter how bad, is his own problem." Michael stepped closer to Joshua, his tone icy.
Joshua was momentarily at a loss for words, then stepped back and said quietly, "Deception will never become reality. Lies will be exposed one day. Michael, you better watch yourself!"
With that, he turned and left.
As he left, Joshua glanced back at Emma. She stood in the garden, holding Seraphine's hand, looking calm and gentle. From her expression and demeanor, Joshua became more certain that something was off with her.
And Michael's deliberate protection of her only made him more suspicious.
He suddenly realized that it was possible Emma had lost her memory.
Thinking of George's near-breakdown state, he made up his mind. No matter what, he had to find out the truth for George, and that meant getting closer to Emma.
Joshua first thought of going directly to the hospital to ask, but as he expected, he was refused.
No matter how he inquired, the hospital cited patient privacy and refused to disclose Emma's condition. Joshua didn't give up. He was sure there was more to Emma's condition, and Michael's attitude only made him more suspicious of a hidden secret.
To get information, Joshua disguised himself as a maintenance worker for hospital equipment and sneaked into the records room, where he found Emma's medical records. Finally, he discovered a shocking fact—Emma's memory was disordered, and her brain seemed to have actively blocked all painful memories, which were likely related to George.
Joshua held the copied medical records, his expression complex.
This truth was both hope and despair for George. Emma's memory loss could be due to her deep-seated reluctance to remember those painful experiences.
Joshua didn't know how to tell George about this. After thinking for a while, he decided to leave the decision to George.
That night, George lay in bed, tossing and turning, his mind filled with Joshua's message: [Emma was staying at The Stuart Villa.]
An hour later, George sat in his car, parked near The Stuart Villa. He lit a cigarette, his fingers trembling slightly, but his eyes were fixed on a lit window in the distance.
Through the window, he could see Emma and Michael sitting together, with Seraphine happily laughing between them. Emma gently touched Seraphine's hair, her eyes full of tender smiles. Michael occasionally whispered something to Emma, and the atmosphere looked incredibly harmonious.
This scene pierced George's heart. It felt like someone was squeezing his heart tightly. He couldn't accept a world where Emma didn't include him, and he couldn't accept the sight of her with Michael and Seraphine as a family.
