Chapter 225 Rummaging Through the Trash Can

"Get out of my sight!" George bellowed, his eyes blazing with fury. He stormed out of the mansion, heading straight for the dumpster.

Anna stood frozen, her heart pounding with shock and unease.

She knew George had an unhealthy obsession with Emma, but she never imagined that even Emma's belongings would mean more to him than she did.

Anna thought, 'Emma! Even in death, you can't leave us in peace!'

A few minutes later, George was rummaging through the dumpster, searching for the old items Anna had thrown away.

To George, Emma's things were more than just objects; they were vessels of cherished memories.

Clutching the discarded items tightly, George felt they were his treasures. No one had the right to throw them away or erase Emma's presence!

George had lost his mind, and Anna was on the brink of losing hers.

She couldn't understand why George was so fixated on Emma's old things. She was the one by his side now. When Emma was alive, George had despised her.

Why did everything change after Emma died?

Did it take death to awaken George's love?

And what about Isabella?

She was alive, yet she had George's love. Was it just because she looked like that bitch Emma?

"Why can't he just forget her?" Anna gritted her teeth, filled with resentment and bitterness.

At that moment, Anna looked at Lucas.

Lucas was always so quiet, often overlooked. After school today, Anna had brought him home under the pretense of mending their relationship. In reality, she just wanted to keep an eye on him and use him to get closer to George.

Lucas had humiliated her at the wedding by openly saying he didn't want her as his mom.

Anna thought, 'Fine, Lucas. If you don't want me as your mom, I won't pretend anymore. Let's see who comes out on top!'

Lucas had been in his room, but the commotion downstairs made him open the door to see what was happening. He saw Anna, furious and terrifying. Afraid of being hit, he stayed silent. His innocent, fearful look only fueled Anna's anger.

Her rage had no outlet, so it deepened her loathing for Lucas.

"What are you doing, Lucas?" Anna suddenly shouted at him, her voice dripping with displeasure.

"I..." Lucas responded softly, a hint of fear in his eyes.

"Are you mocking me? Even you look down on me!" Anna's voice grew louder as her anger made her irrational.

Lucas lowered his head, silently enduring Anna's scolding. He never understood why she was so angry.

Anna suddenly turned, accusing, "Do you wish I were dead? Do you want a different mom?"

"I..." Lucas tried to explain, but his nervousness choked his words. Tears welled up in his eyes, ready to spill over.

"Shut up! Get out!" Anna wanted to unleash all her fury on Lucas.

He was Emma's son, destined to suffer.

"You're useless!" Anna's voice was harsh. "You're a jerk, just like your mother!"

Lucas was a remnant of Emma, a source of shame and burden for Anna. At that moment, she wished he didn't exist.

One day, she would eliminate Lucas from her life entirely!

"I hate you! Why don't you just die!" Anna finally lost control, screaming at Lucas. Her words cut into Lucas's heart like a knife.

Tears streamed down Lucas's face as he lowered his head, silently bearing Anna's wrath, feeling utterly helpless. He didn't know how to deal with this hateful mother.

Even the little match girl had a grandmother to save her, but he had no one.

"Stop crying! All you do is cry!" Anna's anger exploded. She rushed forward, shoving Lucas to the ground and kicking his legs.

Lucas's head hit the floor with a loud thud. He clutched his aching head, writhing in pain, tears flowing uncontrollably.

His face was streaked with tears, looking pitiful, his eyes swollen and red, lips trembling as he tried to suppress his fear.

He looked like an abandoned puppy, lonely and helpless, evoking pity.

"Stop crying, you coward." Anna looked at Lucas with disgust. There was no trace of sympathy on her face, only disdain and anger.

She hated how much Lucas resembled Emma as he grew. If he continued to grow up, his true identity would eventually be revealed.

Then Anna's misdeeds would be exposed to the world.

Lucas couldn't be allowed to stay!

"You're worthless. What's the point of keeping you? Even your dad couldn't keep you. I should have strangled you when you were born." Anna's voice was venomous, piercing Lucas's soul.

Though his ears were ringing, and he couldn't hear clearly, he knew one thing for sure: Anna hated him deeply.

Every punch, every kick from Anna felt like a hammer blow to his soul and body, filling him with despair and pain.

He tried to protect himself with his arms, but it only brought more intense pain.

"Remember, don't tell anyone." After leaving Lucas bruised, Anna coldly threatened him.

She dragged Lucas into a dark, damp storage room that reeked of mold. After locking the door behind her, she left Lucas alone to cope with the grim surroundings.

"You'll stay in there until your dad comes back! Reflect on yourself!" Anna's angry voice echoed outside, cold and merciless.

Lucas curled up in a dark corner, his small body trembling.

The next morning.

Morning sunlight filtered through the curtains into the mansion. Lucas woke up in the storage room, his body still aching and exhausted.

The fear and despair from last night clung to him like a shadow. Anna's cruelty and violence haunted his mind, but this morning felt different.

Anna opened the storage room door, looking at Lucas coldly, and dragged him out without mercy. Lucas's body trembled slightly. He didn't know what to expect from Anna today, whether she would be violent again.

"Hurry up;don't dawdle!" Anna's voice was sharp, like an alarm. Lucas lowered his head, silently following her. She led him to the garage, where the driver was waiting. Surprisingly, Anna acted unusually gentle in front of others, even smiling.
