Chapter 91 Are You Blind?

Blinded, Emma felt like she was stuck in an endless night, everything around her just a blur.

She couldn't gather the ashes, so she just gave up. Clutching a sharp piece of the urn, she had a crazy idea pop into her head—she'd use this shard to get back at Douglas and herself.

"Anna! I'm gonna kill you!" Her voice echoed through the empty factory.

Her hands flailed around, trying to find Anna in the dark. She couldn't see, but the hate in her heart made her fearless, like a wild animal out of control.

"I know you're here!" Emma's voice was full of madness. She tried to grab Anna, but the darkness made it impossible to tell where she was.

"I will find you!" Her voice grew more frantic. Her hands swung wildly, the shard slicing through the air.

"You killed my grandpa, and you're gonna pay for it!" The fire of revenge burned in Emma's heart. "Anna, you evil witch! You'll regret this!"

Emma kept up her crazed actions, alone in the dark. Her voice echoed in the empty factory, showing her despair and madness to the world.

Finally, exhausted, she collapsed among the shards. Her clothes were torn, and blood was everywhere, like a walking corpse.

Ethan had tracked her down through surveillance. When he got to the abandoned warehouse, he thought the once vibrant and hopeful Emma was already a corpse.

His heart felt like it was being ripped apart, but he made one last effort. His trembling hand reached for Emma's neck. There was a pulse! She wasn't dead yet!

A wave of relief washed over Ethan. He picked up Emma and rushed back to the car.

As long as Emma had a breath left, he would save her! Why wouldn't the Russell family leave her alone? They always pushed her to the brink of death.

Ethan took Emma back to the hospital.

With each exam, Billy brought worse news—Emma's eyes were completely blind. Within six months, she needed a corneal transplant. Otherwise, she'd live in darkness forever.

But where could they find a matching cornea in just six months? Plus, Emma had less than a month to live.

On the hospital bed, Emma's face was pale, her eyes empty. Ethan gently held her hand, feeling the faint warmth, and his heart ached. He wanted to say something but couldn't find the words.

"Emma, can you hear me?" he asked softly. But Emma only turned her head slightly, her eyes devoid of any light, refusing any connection with the world. Ethan worried she had lost the will to live.

"I'll stay with you, no matter what. I won't let anyone hurt you again." He tried to make his voice firm, hoping to give her some warmth and hope. But Emma's eyes stayed empty, unmoved by his words.

Days passing, Ethan stayed by Emma's side every day. They lived in seclusion. But George still found them.

More precisely, it was Ethan's father, Robert Martinez, who came to Emma's ward.

Robert always wanted Ethan to marry someone from their social circle, but Ethan only had eyes for Emma. For her, he had a huge falling out with his family. He hadn't been home in ages, staying with Emma in the hospital instead.

Robert thought Ethan was just swamped with work. But then George told him that Ethan and Emma had eloped!

If Robert didn't hand over Emma quickly, the Martinez Family's business in Lakeside Haven would be toast. In Lakeside Haven, who would dare to go against the Russell Family? Robert immediately mobilized the family resources and tracked Ethan down through his financial movements.

Seeing Ethan taking care of the almost-dead Emma, Robert was livid.

"Ethan! If you still consider me your father, send this bitch to the Russell Mansion immediately!"

"Forget it. I'm not handing Emma over to anyone, especially George," Ethan said firmly.

"Fine! Have it your way! Someone's here!" Robert seemed to have anticipated this. He waved his hand, and ten strong bodyguards surrounded Ethan.

Ethan was just an ordinary guy and couldn't fight off ten bodyguards.

Though they didn't harm Ethan, two of them grabbed his arms while another two held onto his legs. They tied him up with ropes, making him completely helpless.

Like a bug trapped in a jar, Ethan was easily taken away.

As for Emma, Robert didn't bother with a blind, disfigured, dying woman.

Before leaving, he even looked at Emma with pity. He remembered attending her wedding to George. At the wedding, although everyone despised Emma for using a scheme to sleep with George, her beauty had stunned everyone.

But now, he couldn't connect the emaciated Emma on the hospital bed with the angelic Emma from the wedding.

But what did it matter? Offending George led to this outcome.

Robert silently prayed for Emma in his heart.

Ethan was gone, leaving Emma alone in the empty room. When she woke up and didn't hear Ethan's voice, she knew she had been abandoned once again.

Emma was used to it.

When George saw Emma, he could hardly believe his eyes. Was this woman in the hospital gown really Emma?

George suddenly remembered what Anna had said before he left, "Emma definitely won't want a divorce. We don't have to get married, but Lucas will have to bear the stigma of being an illegitimate child. But don't worry, I'll raise Lucas well and won't let him feel inferior."

For Lucas, he and Emma had to divorce. He had to give Lucas a legitimate status.

Emma hated Anna and Lucas so much, she would definitely try everything to stop the divorce.

Was she playing possum this time?

George slammed a divorce agreement onto the small table in front of Emma. The paper hit the table, and the resulting air current lifted the strands of hair from Emma's face, revealing the hideous scars underneath.

George said nothing, waiting for Emma to speak.

But Emma seemed oblivious, her eyes still wide open, staring at the TV hanging on the wall.

"Emma, are you blind? Can't you see I'm here?" George's hateful voice rang in Emma's ears, like the roar of a demon.
