Chapter 308 Emma Becomes the President
The board members exchanged glances and then nodded in agreement. One of the most senior members stood up, smiling, and said, "Ms. Taylor, we're all really impressed with your performance. We unanimously agree that you should be the president of the Russell Group. We believe that under your leadership, the Russell Group will achieve even greater success."
Emma nodded slightly, maintaining a composed smile. "Thank you all for your trust. I'll do my best to lead the Russell Group to new heights. Next, I'll quickly draft a detailed development plan and discuss it with all of you to make sure every step the company takes is steady and strong."
As soon as she finished speaking, the room erupted in applause. The board members stood up to congratulate her, and Emma shook hands with each of them.
After the meeting, Emma stood alone by the floor-to-ceiling window, overlooking the city.
Her heart was filled with mixed emotions. Ousting George and becoming the president of the Russell Group herself didn't feel as satisfying as she had imagined. Her next step would be to consolidate all the Russell family assets under her control.
It would be enough to leave them just the Russell Mansion.
At that moment, her phone rang. She saw Michael's name on the screen and picked it up. A slight smile appeared on her lips as she answered the call.
"Congrats, Emma," Michael's voice came through, light and teasing. "Looks like our plan is going smoothly."
Emma chuckled. "Everything's going according to plan. But Michael, I don't really want to be the president. Why don't you take over? You're just gonna hand over such a big empire to me? Are you sure?"
Michael smirked, "Of course. The Russell Group belongs to the Russell family, so it's better in your hands."
Emma paused. "But I have one request. Can you leave the Russell Mansion for them? Grandpa is old, and Lucas is so young. They still need a place to live."
"Emma, you're still so kind."
At 10 a.m. sharp, the Russell Group's official account released a change of president announcement.
[By unanimous decision of the board, Isabella is officially appointed as the new president of the Russell Group effective immediately. Isabella has demonstrated exceptional leadership and strategic vision in the business field. We believe that under her leadership, the Russell Group will achieve even greater success. Thank you to all shareholders, partners, and the public for your support and trust.]
The announcement caused an immediate stir in the business world and on social media.
Meanwhile, inside the Russell Mansion, Scarlett sat on the couch, her face pale as she stared at her phone screen. Her fingers trembled slightly, filled with anger and disbelief. She suddenly stood up, grabbing her bag and heading for the door.
"Stop right there!" A stern voice came from the staircase. Charles, leaning on a cane, slowly descended the stairs, his gaze cold as he looked at Scarlett.
Scarlett stopped, her voice shaking with uncontrollable anger. "Dad, did you see that? Isabella, that woman, has taken the president's position! The Russell Group is our family's business. How can it be handed over to her?"
Charles's eyes held a hint of depth. "Because she has the capability. Isabella secured the partnership with Auris Group, something many couldn't achieve. Her skills and determination are evident to every board member. She deserves the president's position."
Scarlett's face turned even darker as she said, "Dad, how can you say that? She's an outsider. How can she control the Russell Group? We don't owe him anything. I know, Dad, you favor her because she looks like Emma, right? Get a grip, Dad; that little bitch Emma is dead!"
"Scarlett, watch your words. If she's a little bitch, then am I a damned fool?"
Scarlett had indeed cursed Charles as a damned fool behind his back many times, but she didn't dare say it to his face. She stood there, speechless.
Charles's gaze grew colder, his voice firm and unyielding. "What we owe her is far more than you can imagine. Isabella's achievements are her own. We, the Russell family, have no right to criticize her."
What Charles didn't say was that everyone in the Russell family knew what George had done to Emma back then.
Scarlett's eyes were filled with anger and helplessness. She gritted her teeth and picked up her phone, dialing Emma's number.
After a few rings, the call was answered by a polite, unfamiliar female voice.
"Hello, this is Ms. Taylor's secretary. May I ask who's calling?" The secretary's voice was warm and professional, with a hint of formality.
Scarlett's face darkened further. "I'm George's mother! Put Isabella on the phone!"
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Russell, Ms. Taylor is in a meeting and cannot take calls at the moment. If it's urgent, I can relay a message or schedule a suitable time for you to meet with her."
Scarlett's anger was about to explode. "Tell her I'm her mother-in-law! She needs to come to my house immediately! Or else, she'll face the consequences!"
The secretary's voice remained polite and distant. "Mrs. Russell, I understand your concern, but Ms. Taylor's schedule is very tight. If you need to meet with her, I can arrange a suitable time. When would you like to schedule it?"
Scarlett exclaimed, "Watch your attitude! I'm her mother-in-law! Doesn't she have time to see me?"
The secretary replied, "Mrs. Russell, Ms. Taylor's work is very demanding, and all appointments need to be scheduled in advance. If you wish to meet with her, I can arrange it for tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. Will that work for you?"
Scarlett's anger was boiling over, but she knew arguing further was pointless. She gritted her teeth, her voice filled with discontent. "Fine, tomorrow at 3 p.m. She better be at my house on time! Or else!"
"Okay, Mrs. Russell. I will relay your message to Ms. Taylor. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"
