Chapter 237 Mortgage Company
Jacob nodded, a sinister smile spreading across his face. "Don't worry, Ms. Taylor. I'll make sure he loses everything," he said, already plotting how to lure Jerry into his trap.
Before Jerry even got home, Jacob reached out to him, inviting him for a drink.
"Hey Jerry, how's it going?" Jacob asked, pouring drinks and pretending to be concerned.
"Not great. The company's in trouble," Jerry sighed, feeling helpless.
His company had always relied on Anna's financial support. Now that Anna was in prison, no one was there to help, and the business was struggling.
"Don't sweat it, Jerry. Let's blow off some steam at the casino. You never know, it might turn things around," Jacob suggested, a sly glint in his eye.
The word "casino" caught Jerry's attention. Despite knowing the risks of gambling, his desperation made him yearn for a way out.
"Do you really think we can win at the casino?" Jerry asked hesitantly.
"Of course! I've heard a lot of people have been hitting it big at gambling lately," Jacob said mysteriously, continuing to tempt him. "And we can watch each other's backs."
Jerry wrestled with his thoughts but was ultimately swayed by Jacob's words.
"Alright, let's give it a shot."
Under Jacob's guidance, Jerry walked into the casino. The lights were dazzling, the music deafening, and the crowd was lost in the thrill of gambling.
"Come on, Jerry, try this game first," Jacob said, pointing to a table, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
Jerry sat down, filled with anxiety but determined to try. As he placed his bets, his heart raced, feeling like everything hinged on this moment.
But luck was not on his side, as the goddess of fortune had abandoned him. With each game, Jerry's chips dwindled until he lost everything.
"How did this happen?" Jerry clutched his head, filled with despair and regret. He had no idea he had been led into an inescapable trap by Jacob.
"Don't give up, Jerry! Let's go again!" Jacob's voice urged him on, stoking Jerry's gambling urge.
"I don't have any money left," Jerry said, his face crestfallen.
"No problem, I can help you borrow some. Keep gambling, and you'll win eventually," Jacob said, his eyes gleaming with malice, feeling smug.
Jerry asked urgently, "How do I borrow?"
"Simple, you have a company, right? Just use it as collateral." Jacob replied.
"Yeah, I can mortgage the company and borrow more money to gamble!" The crazy idea flashed through Jerry's mind, filling him with impulsive excitement.
"With your skills, you'll definitely make it back!" Jacob continued to egg him on.
"Yes, I can win it back!" Jerry said firmly, his eyes shining with irrational determination.
Soon, Jerry mortgaged his company and borrowed more money to continue gambling. His mind was filled with fantasies of the future, believing that winning back the money would solve all his problems.
"This time, I will win!" he told himself, filled with anticipation and tension.
However, things did not turn out as he wished. With each game, Jerry's chips vanished again, and he lost everything once more.
Despair and hopelessness washed over him like a tidal wave. Jerry sat at the table, feeling utterly defeated. He had nothing left.
"What do I do now?" he muttered, clutching his head in despair and regret.
In just one night, he had lost everything.
'No! I can't live like this!' Jerry inwardly swore to himself. 'I need to be rich! Last time, Emma gave me $50,000 so easily. She deals in jewelry, she must be loaded. I have dirt on her; if I ask for money, she'll have to give it!'
This time, Jerry didn't make a scene outside. He went straight to Emma's office. He saw Emma sitting behind her desk, looking unbothered by his arrival.
"Emma, I need money!" Jerry demanded, his tone carrying a hint of threat.
Emma looked up, a trace of disdain in her eyes. "Get out. I'm not giving you any money."
"If you don't give me money, I'll tell everyone who you really are!" Jerry's voice rose, feeling smug, thinking he had the upper hand.
Emma smiled slightly, seemingly unfazed by Jerry's words.
"Do you think I'm afraid of you? Do you think you can threaten me?"
"I know you're Emma! You're not dead!" Jerry shouted, trying to draw attention.
The surrounding employees glanced over curiously, but most dismissed Jerry's claims. Isabella's identity was well-known; she was the genius designer who returned from Sunterra, not the mistreated Emma from the Russell family.
They just looked alike. Why couldn't Jerry get over it?
"You're a pathetic gambler," Emma said coldly, a hint of scorn in her eyes. "If you keep this up, I'll call the police and report you for extortion."
"How dare dare!" Jerry shouted, knowing he couldn't afford to go to jail with Anna already locked up.
What if Olivia took all his money while he was gone?
"Why wouldn't I?" Emma's voice was icy. "I've already died once. What do I have to fear?"
As Jerry angrily tried to argue, the police arrived and took him away.
"You'll regret this, Emma! I won't let you get away with this!" Jerry shouted as he was led away, filled with resentment and anger.
But Emma just watched him coldly, her eyes gleaming with victory. Her plan was unfolding perfectly.
Under Emma's arrangements, Jerry and Anna met in prison. As they were immersed in their emotional exchange, the door opened again, and a guard entered.
"Jerry, you're free to go. Your wife bailed you out," the guard said.
"What about me? Did anyone bail me out?" Anna asked quickly.
"No! Back to your cell!" The guard shooed Anna away like a pest.
Only then did Jerry realize what Anna had been enduring. A wave of immense hatred surged in his heart.
"Anna, I will get revenge for you!"
