Chapter 439 Switching Personalities

Finally, standing in front of her, he asked in a low voice, "Emma, have you been faking it all this time? Have you been lying to me? Why couldn't you just keep lying? I thought you loved me too, that's why you stayed. Is that true, Emma? Tell me. Do you really not care about me anymore?"

A cold glint flashed in Emma's eyes, instantly stripping away the warmth and pretense she had shown before. She spoke bluntly, "George, I hate you." Her words were like a cold blade, mercilessly shattering the last bit of hope in his heart. "I stayed with you only for revenge."

In that moment, George's heart felt like it was crushed by a boulder, the pain nearly suffocating him.

He couldn't listen anymore, his mind filled with memories of her past smiles. He wanted to hold her, to make her stay, to salvage their broken relationship with sheer determination. His voice turned pleading, "Emma, no matter what happened, I'm willing to change for you. Come with me, we can start over."

But there was no trace of tenderness in Emma's eyes. She took Michael's hand and turned away without hesitation, heading for the door. Michael smirked, mocking George's helplessness.

George tasted bile in his throat as they touched, the bitterness spreading through him like whiskey on an empty stomach.

Watching Emma and Michael walk away together, George couldn't suppress the despair within him. It felt as if his entire world was collapsing in that instant, leaving only suffocating loneliness and loss. He silently vowed to himself that he would win back the woman he once loved, no matter the cost.

A thought ignited in his mind: he had to get Emma back, no matter how difficult it might be, he would never give up!

"Emma!" His heart pounded as he took a deep breath and dashed towards the parking lot, chasing after Emma's figure. Driven by anxiety and impulse, his steps were faster than usual, breaking through his usual composure like a wild beast out of control.

He ran desperately, drawing the attention of passersby who were shocked by his disheveled state. The usually calm and composed George was now a mess! He even bumped into people along the way, not caring as he pushed past them to continue his pursuit. When he fell, his knee hit the hard ground, blood seeping out, but he seemed to have lost all sense of pain, getting up and continuing to run.

During this, people around him exchanged curious glances and whispered, "What's going on? What's wrong with George?"

But he had no time to care about any of that. His mind was focused on one thing—he couldn't let Emma leave.

At the far end of the parking lot, George was forced to slow down because he saw Emma heading towards a car, with Michael looking incredibly smug beside her. Emma had noticed George chasing her, but she showed no intention of stopping. Instead, she quickened her pace, seemingly eager to shake him off.

"Emma! Don't go!" His voice was hoarse and urgent, trying to grab her hand. His inner turmoil made him reckless, and his fear made him even more determined.

Just as George was about to reach Emma, Michael, seemingly prepared, stepped in his way with a cold smile. "What do you think you're doing?" He smirked, his eyes full of provocation, as if he were watching a show.

George's anger flared. Without hesitation, he shoved Michael's hand away with such force that he nearly lost control.

"Get out of my way!"

Michael had clearly underestimated George's strength and was almost knocked off balance, his body swaying.

As the two struggled, the wound on Michael's arm reopened, and he gasped dramatically, clutching his injury.

"Emma, don't look."

Emma's expression turned frantic, fear and anxiety flashing in her eyes. The previously calm scene became tense and oppressive.

"Are you okay? Did your wound reopen?" Emma asked urgently, her eyes full of concern, clearly very worried about Michael. She leaned forward slightly, wanting to comfort him, her heart filled with worry.

At this moment, Michael's face showed a hint of vulnerability.

"It's nothing, Emma, don't worry." He responded lightly, trying to appear relaxed, his voice gentle as a spring breeze, seeking Emma's sympathy. "I just lost my balance. Don't blame George, he didn't mean it."

He smiled slightly, trying to hide his pain, but anyone with eyes could see that Michael was really hurting.

Emma was furious with George.

How dare he use violence against Michael!

Michael was his uncle!

She couldn't understand why George was being so reckless!

George witnessed all this, his anger burning like a raging fire, as if a sharp blade had pierced his heart. His emotions flared even more intensely when he saw Emma's concern for Michael.

"Stop pretending, Michael!" He glared coldly at Michael, his eyes filled with anger and disdain.

Michael's scraping the bottom of the barrel with these attention-seeking stunts!

"George, that's enough! Apologize! Apologize to Michael right now!" Emma commanded sharply.

"What did you say?" George could hardly believe his ears.

Apologize to Michael? No way!

He gritted his teeth, his gaze firm. "Apologize? Are you kidding me?"

Seeing his stubbornness, Emma was furious, like an enraged lioness. "If you don't apologize, I'll take Lucas away, and you'll never see him again!" Her tone was unyielding, leaving no room for negotiation.

George's heart tightened, as if struck by a heavy blow. Outwardly calm, his inner turmoil was like a storm. Even at this point, he refused to back down, his stance growing even firmer. "I will never compromise!"

At this moment, Michael put on a facade of magnanimity, a playful smile on his lips, his tone laced with mockery. "George, I thought I was your uncle, and you should respect me more. I didn't expect you to hate me so much. But since I'm your elder, forget it. If you don't want to apologize, then don't."

His voice was soft, as if making a harmless joke, but his eyes held a sinister satisfaction.
