Chapter 631 Survival

At that moment, a security guard wearing a baseball cap hurried over and whispered to his colleague, "The captain wants me to take her to the interrogation room."

The guard didn't suspect anything and handed Wanda over to this "colleague." Wanda was roughly yanked to her feet and was about to start cursing when she saw the eyes under the brim of the cap. She froze as if struck by lightning.

Those were eyes she knew all too well—clear, determined, and filled with icy hatred.

"Emma?" Wanda's voice trembled uncontrollably. "But you..."

"Died?" Emma sneered, tightening her grip on Wanda's wrist, causing her pain. "Sorry to disappoint you."

Emma swiftly twisted Wanda's arms behind her back and secured them with zip ties, moving with a precision that belied her upbringing as a pampered heiress.

"How is this possible?" Wanda's face turned ashen, her legs nearly giving out.

Emma leaned close to her ear, her voice as soft as a feather but chilling to the bone. "Did you really think throwing me into the ocean would be the end of it? Too bad for you, I'm tougher than that."

She dragged Wanda quickly toward the side door of the church. As they passed by Sophia, Emma gave a barely perceptible nod. Lucas, who was in Sophia's arms, immediately brightened and struggled to get down.

"Grandma, let's go! We need to follow the plan!" Lucas urged quietly.

Though filled with questions, Sophia followed them, carrying her grandson. It was only then that she noticed the "security guard's" walk—it was unmistakably her daughter Emma's.

Three days earlier, on that fateful night...

Cold seawater filled Emma's nose as she struggled inside the suitcase. Her survival instinct kicked in, and she held her breath the moment she hit the water, using a hairpin hidden in her sleeve to frantically scratch at the suitcase's interior.

"I can't die. Lucas is waiting for me."

Her vision began to blur from lack of oxygen, but her hands never stopped. Finally, just as she was about to suffocate, she managed to create a small opening in the suitcase!

Salty seawater rushed in, but it also brought precious oxygen. Emma used all her strength to kick open the suitcase lid and swam desperately toward the surface in the dark ocean.

As she broke through the water, she greedily gulped in fresh air. Under the moonlight, she identified the direction of the shoreline and began swimming toward it with all her might.

Three hours later, an exhausted Emma finally crawled onto a rocky outcrop. Her hands were raw and bloody, her clothes in tatters, but her eyes were more determined than ever.

"Wanda," she muttered through gritted teeth, "you just wait."

For the next two days, Emma moved like a ghost in the shadows. She contacted her most trusted bodyguard and found a way to secretly communicate with Lucas.

"Mom! I knew that person wasn't you!" Lucas cried, his face red with tears, in the video call. "She never hugs me or tells me stories."

Emma's heart ached. "Hang in there, baby. Mommy will come get you soon."

She meticulously inquired about Wanda's every move and devised a bold plan. On the day of the wedding, Lucas would pretend to be sick to arouse Sophia's suspicion, and then Sophia would publicly expose Wanda's true identity.

"But will Grandma believe me?" Lucas asked, his voice tinged with worry.

Emma smiled confidently. "Just keep saying 'she's not my mom,' and Grandma will start to doubt."

Now, in the church basement, Wanda was tied to a chair, staring in terror at the fully armed Emma in front of her.

"What are you going to do?" Wanda's voice shook. "Murder is illegal!"

Emma calmly removed her cap, revealing the face that haunted Wanda's nightmares. "Don't worry, I won't kill you." She leaned in, her eyes sharp as knives. "I want you to live and watch as you lose everything."

Footsteps approached from outside, and Sophia burst in, holding Lucas. The moment she saw Emma, tears streamed down her face. "Emma! It's really you!"

"Mom," Emma choked up, hugging Sophia tightly. "I'm sorry for making you worry."

Lucas jumped out of Sophia's arms and into Emma's embrace. "Mommy! I knew you'd come back!"

Emma hugged her son tightly and kissed his forehead. "My brave boy, you did great."

Wanda watched the heartwarming scene, seething with jealousy. "Emma! Don't get too comfortable! George has been hypnotized. He'll never remember you! He'll only love me, Wanda!"

Emma turned to Sophia calmly. "Mom, take Lucas and leave. I'll handle this."

Sophia looked at Emma with concern. "But you..."

"Trust me," Emma said, flexing her wrists, her eyes steely. "It's time to end this."

Once Sophia and Lucas were gone, Emma pulled a syringe from her bag and slowly approached Wanda.

"What are you doing?" Wanda recoiled in fear.

Emma yanked open Wanda's collar and pressed the needle to her neck. "I'm doing to you what you did to me."

The liquid in the syringe slowly entered Wanda's bloodstream, and her eyes began to glaze over.

Under the influence of the drug, Wanda's consciousness started to blur. Emma coldly watched her and activated the recording function on her phone.

"Tell me, who are you really?" Emma's voice was as cold as ice.

Wanda's lips trembled, the drug compelling her to speak. "I'm Anna."

Emma's pupils contracted sharply. Despite her suspicions, hearing it confirmed sent a shock through her.

"Keep talking," she demanded, suppressing her rage.

"Michael saved me," Wanda said haltingly. "Before the execution. He sent me to Sunterra for plastic surgery. To become you."

Emma's fingers tightened around her phone, her knuckles white. She finally understood why Wanda knew her habits so well, why she could perfectly mimic her every move.

"Kidnapping Scarlett. Framing you. It was all me." Wanda's face twisted into a sinister smile. "Michael. He just wanted you to give up on George."

Each word was like a knife to Emma's heart. She took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm. "Where is Michael now?"

This time, Wanda didn't answer Emma's question. Instead, she trembled with fear. "He's angry. The plan failed."

Emma turned off the recording and put her phone away. She leaned in close to Wanda's ear and whispered, "Listen, I'll keep this recording safe. If you ever try anything again, I'll make sure the whole world knows who you really are. And then, not even Michael can save you. You know how much I mean to Michael. If I say you should die, he won't let you live."
