Chapter 130 The Makeup Artist
The Russell Group's 50th anniversary bash was just around the corner.
As George's fiancée, Anna was definitely going to be there. She had to look absolutely stunning, no one could outshine her.
A friend tipped Anna off about a top-notch makeup artist, Charlotte Rose. Charlotte was a big deal in the industry, having been the lead makeup artist for major fashion shows and ad campaigns. She had a knack for bringing out the best in everyone, tailoring each look to fit her clients perfectly.
Her client list was packed with celebs, models, and fashion insiders. Those who experienced her magic often became die-hard fans, eager to spread the word.
Booking Charlotte was nearly impossible. But Anna wanted the best.
She called Charlotte's number right away, asking for an in-home session. But Charlotte's assistant shot her down. "Sorry, Ms. Stuart, we're fully booked."
"Do you even know who I am?" Anna's voice shot up; she couldn't handle the rejection.
Fuming, Anna marched straight to Charlotte's studio. She barged in, looking around with disdain.
Charlotte, busy with a client, looked up in surprise at Anna's abrupt entrance.
"Are you Charlotte, the makeup artist?" Anna asked coldly, with a hint of menace. She walked up and demanded, "I need you to do my makeup now!"
Charlotte felt a pang of distress. She knew Anna's clout but also had her own principles and schedule. She tried to explain, "Ms. Stuart, I'm fully booked today; I really can't fit you in."
"Are you refusing me?" Anna's voice was laced with anger, making everyone tense up.
Charlotte sighed, knowing she couldn't say no. She lowered her head and sighed, "Alright, I'll do your makeup, but you'll have to wait a bit."
Just then, Emma walked into the studio. She immediately spotted Anna standing in front of Charlotte.
Anna turned sharply, her expression darkening at the sight of Emma. She sneered, "Ms. Taylor, you like this studio too."
"Yes, Ms. Stuart. I didn't expect you to have such good taste."
Charlotte quickly picked up on the tension between them. She hesitated but ultimately decided to stick with Emma, who had an appointment. She put down her tools and turned to Emma, speaking sincerely, "Ms. Taylor, shall we start now?"
Emma nodded, and Anna's face twisted with anger.
"Why does she get her makeup done first?" Anna's voice dripped with irritation. She couldn't stand being second to Emma.
But Charlotte and Emma ignored her, leaving her to stew.
"Because Ms. Taylor had an appointment, and she's a Diamond Member of the Global Cosmetics Alliance, which gives her priority service."
That was the membership Anna had always coveted, but she didn't qualify, and George wouldn't help her get it. She felt utterly helpless.
'Emma is a Diamond Member? What makes her so special?' Anna fumed.
Charlotte focused on Emma's makeup, carefully outlining her eyes to make them pop. Meanwhile, Anna was scheming to cause trouble. She edged closer, trying to create a distraction.
"Charlotte, why are you making the eyeliner so thick?" Anna said loudly, trying to break Charlotte's concentration.
Charlotte frowned but kept working. Emma turned slightly, a wary look in her eyes.
"Ms. Stuart, what are you doing here?" Emma asked coldly, clearly annoyed.
She knew Anna's presence meant trouble.
"I'm just here to see if this makeup can actually help you," Anna sneered, moving closer to disrupt Charlotte's work.
Emma's assistant, sensing Anna's intentions, quickly stepped in, watching Anna closely. The assistant's presence made Anna uneasy, but she wasn't backing down.
"You two are so boring. Can't I just watch the magic happen?" Anna taunted.
Charlotte knew Anna was up to no good. She adjusted her posture, reminding herself to stay calm.
Suddenly, Anna lunged forward, trying to grab Charlotte's wrist to make her slip. But Emma's assistant blocked her, saying coldly, "Please keep your distance, Ms. Stuart."
'Damn it! Isabella, you got lucky today! But this isn't over!' Anna cursed inwardly.
Emma's smile grew even sweeter. 'Anna, every bit of pain you've caused me, I'll pay back in full. Just wait and see,' she thought.
