Chapter 242 Bungee Jumping

"No worries, come on! This is the best ride in the whole park!" Emma's excitement was infectious, and Sophia couldn't help but grin.

After some convincing, Sophia finally gave in, her long-lost sense of happiness rekindled. She stepped forward and sat next to Emma, a smile on her face, as if she had returned to her childhood.

"Alright, I'm here!" Sophia laughed.

Henry watched from the side, feeling a sense of relief. He picked up his phone, ready to capture this heartwarming moment. He aimed at the merry-go-round with the two happy figures and pressed the shutter, capturing their smiles.

As the merry-go-round spun, Emma and Sophia's laughter intertwined, making it seem like time had stopped. They both forgot their past grievances, replaced by endless joy and warmth.

Despite the tension between them, at this moment, they seemed like a family, enjoying this rare moment of closeness.

They lost count of how many times they went on the merry-go-round until both Sophia and Emma were dizzy. They finally got off and moved on to other rides.

The three of them went on the roller coaster, bumper cars, and the flying chairs. Each ride filled the air with their laughter, as if time had stopped, and all worries and troubles were left behind.

"Let's go bungee jumping!" Emma pointed excitedly at the ropes in the distance.

"Sure, I used to love extreme sports," Sophia agreed without hesitation.

On the bungee jumping platform, the three of them waited in line, Emma's heart filled with a mix of nervousness and excitement.

Finally, it was Emma's turn. She stepped onto the platform, her heart pounding, the cheers around her echoing in her ears. She glanced back at Sophia, who gave her an encouraging look, filling her with courage.

She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and jumped.

However, the moment she jumped, a wave of panic surged through Sophia. She watched Isabella plummet from the high platform, her heart tightening as if time had frozen. Countless anxious thoughts flashed through her mind, fearing something might happen to Isabella, leaving her almost unable to stand.

"Isabella!" Sophia cried out, her voice trembling with fear, her body shaking with worry for Isabella.

"She'll be fine!" Sophia kept reassuring herself, but the unease in her heart grew stronger.

Her emotions nearly overwhelmed her, tears streaming down her face. She clung tightly to the rope attached to Isabella, as if trying to pull her back up with her own strength.

Seeing this, the staff quickly came over to support her, comforting her, "It's okay, ma'am; bungee jumping is safe. You can relax."

"I... I'm scared..." Sophia's voice trembled, filled with helplessness.

For some reason, the moment Isabella jumped, it felt like her heart jumped with her, as if she had lost Isabella forever.

But why would she feel this way about Isabella, who wasn't even related to her?

Just then, Emma's figure was safely pulled back by the rope and gently landed on the ground. Her face was lit up with excitement, her eyes sparkling with joy.

"I did it!" Emma shouted, her voice brimming with excitement and pride.

When Sophia saw Isabella standing safely on the ground, her fear instantly melted away, and tears of relief streamed down her face. She rushed down the steps and hugged Isabella tightly.

"You scared me half to death!" Sophia choked out, her heart a mix of gratitude and lingering worry.

"I'm sorry; I just wanted to try it," Emma said, feeling a bit guilty, but her smile couldn't hide her confusion.

Emma kept her thoughts to herself, 'What Sophia is doing. Even if something happens to me, Sophia should be happy, not acting like she has lost a daughter. Who is she trying to fool?'

Sophia held Emma, unable to say a word. Even she had no idea what was happening to her.

Henry, however, had a bit of understanding, because he had felt the same way just moments ago.

After Emma's jump, Sophia lost interest in bungee jumping, and they decided to get some ice cream to calm down.

At the ice cream stand in the amusement park, Emma and Sophia excitedly picked out their flavors.

"I want strawberry ice cream!" They said in unison, then looked at each other, surprised that they had the same taste.

"Would you like any toppings?" the vendor asked.

"Add some crushed pistachios!" they both said again in unison.

"You two really have the same taste!" Henry teased from the side, a look of surprise on his face.

They exchanged smiles, and Sophia felt unexpected but very comfortable.

Henry watched them, feeling a wave of astonishment. He noticed that when Isabella and Sophia were together, there was a strange sense of harmony, as if there was an invisible connection between them. Their smiles, expressions, and even their taste in ice cream made him feel like they were mother and daughter.

Sophia also felt a strange sensation in her heart. She enjoyed the time spent with Isabella, as if she had found a long-lost sense of closeness. She began to doubt the things Anna had said before. Anna had always mentioned Isabella was a bad person, but now she felt that Isabella was a good girl.

If it weren't for Anna standing between them, maybe they could have been friends.

But the reality was what it was, and none of them could change it.

'Maybe I can mediate and help Isabella and Anna get along?' Sophia pondered the possibility. But then reality hit her. She knows Anna very well. As long as George was around, Anna would never get along with Isabella.

If Emma knew what Sophia was thinking, she would agree. She and Anna could never reconcile.

Between them, there was no peace, only life and death.

No matter what they were thinking, on the surface, everything seemed harmonious. This scene was captured in a photo, which later ended up in Emma's hands.

When Emma was in the restroom, she took the opportunity to send a text message with an attachment: [Make sure Anna sees this photo.]

A guard, who who had been bribed by Emma, replied: [Don't worry, Ms. Taylor; I'll get it done.]

In the prison workshop, Anna was mechanically performing monotonous labor. The repetitive motions made her fingers ache, but no matter how tired she was, it was better than getting beaten.

"Anna, come here," the guard said coldly.
