Chapter 423 Cyberbullying
Emma glanced at her coolly, a faint smirk playing on her lips, her eyes carrying a hint of cold amusement. "Phoenix, I just don't want Lunora's business to suffer. As for you, whether you can afford it or not, that's your problem."
Phoenix let out a derisive laugh, her voice brimming with confidence. "Can't afford it? Seriously? When have I ever been short on cash?"
Eldon waved his hand, signaling the staff to start tallying up. The employees quickly got to work, counting every item in the store. Finally, they reported an astronomical figure. "Ms. Lewis, if you want to buy out everything, the total comes to $3.8 billion."
Phoenix's face turned pale at the number, her fingers trembling slightly. She knew she didn't have that kind of money in her account. But she wasn't about to lose face in front of Emma and Eldon. Forcing a smile, she said, "Just $3.8 billion? I'll make a call and transfer the money right away!"
She pulled out her phone and dialed Kieran, her voice tinged with urgency. "Kieran, I need some money right now, $3.8 billion. Can you transfer it to me immediately?"
"For what?"
"I want to buy something," Phoenix stammered, knowing she was in the wrong.
On the other end, Kieran's voice was cold and distant. "Phoenix, have you forgotten the terms of our partnership? You deal with your own messes. $3.8 billion? Why should I waste such a large sum on you?"
Phoenix's face stiffened, her voice growing frantic. "But Kieran, I really need this money! Can you please..."
Kieran cut her off icily. "No. Phoenix, remember, we're just business partners. Don't push your luck. If you can't handle this minor issue, our partnership ends here."
With that, Kieran hung up.
Phoenix gripped her phone, her face pale and her fingers trembling.
She hadn't expected Kieran to refuse her so bluntly. Biting her lip, she felt a wave of panic, but she refused to apologize. Instead, she shot Emma and Eldon a cold look, her voice filled with venom. "Consider yourselves lucky today! But mark my words, I'll settle this score with you eventually!"
With that, she turned and strode out, her back straight but her steps unsteady.
Inside the store, the staff exchanged mocking smiles and whispered among themselves. "Wasn't she so arrogant just now? Look at her slinking away now."
"Yeah, she acted like she had so much money, but she couldn't even handle $3.8 billion. What a joke!"
Emma watched Phoenix's retreating figure and smirked. "This humiliation is just the beginning."
But who had she called just now?
That person must be important.
Eldon approached Emma, his tone respectful. "Why did you stop me earlier? She doesn't deserve a chance from you."
Emma smiled faintly. "Eldon, I just wanted her to see for herself what she's capable of. Sometimes, We need not personally humiliate others.; they'll drive themselves to a dead end."
Eldon nodded, admiration in his eyes. "You're really sharp."
Outside, Phoenix stormed to her car, her face dark with anger. She slammed her fist into the car door, her voice a low growl. "Emma, just you wait! I'll make you pay!"
The car door dented with a loud bang, the sound echoing in the quiet parking lot.
At that moment, a middle-aged man hurried over, his face turning livid when he saw his car. Pointing at Phoenix, he shouted angrily, "What are you doing? This is my car! How dare you damage my car?"
Phoenix, already fuming, turned her anger on him. She gave him a cold, disdainful look. "It's just a piece of junk. So what if I damaged it? Do you know who I am? How dare you yell at me?"
The man, red with anger, raised his voice. "I don't care who you are! You damaged my car, you have to pay for it! Or I'll call the police!"
Phoenix sneered, her eyes full of contempt. "Call the police? Go ahead! Let's see what they can do to me! I'm well-connected, so you can't touch me!"
The man, shaking with rage, pointed at her. "You're utterly insane! Just because you have money, you think you can do whatever you want?"
Phoenix sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "That's right, money is power! You could never afford even one of my bags! Get lost and stop bothering me!"
With that, she turned to leave, not giving the man another glance.
The man, teeth clenched in anger, could only watch her go, helpless.
Unbeknownst to Phoenix, a passerby had recorded the entire scene on their phone. The passerby was a streamer who loved capturing social issues on video and had a decent following online. Seeing Phoenix's outburst, he quickly started recording.
"This woman is unbelievable! Smashing someone's car and acting so righteous about it. This is going to be big!" the streamer muttered as they recorded. "This is going to blow up online for sure!"
He quickly edited the video, added a title and uploaded it to his social media. #Money Was Power– Rich Girl Destroys Car, Wouldn't Compensate.
The video went viral almost instantly, racking up tens of thousands of views in minutes and sparking a heated discussion in the comments.
