Chapter 450 Memories Reappear
She felt like she was back in those dark days. The overwhelming stench mixed with the cacophony of noise, her body being ruthlessly shoved, and the painful groans echoing in her ears. She was dragged away by the police, her strength drained, tears blurring her vision. Deep within her soul, a helpless scream resonated, and the shadows involved in all of this, the ones she couldn't touch or resist, were Anna and George.
"Lock her up, let her rot in there!" Anna commanded with a smug expression, her cold laughter ringing in Emma's ears. She pointed at the burly men standing nearby, creating a chilling scene.
Then, the scene shifted. Emma was locked in prison, the mocking jeers of her cellmates stabbing at her heart like knives. She huddled in a corner, helpless against the cold, indifferent stares. Every night, the threats in the darkness closed in, making her feel utterly hopeless.
In a daze, another image appeared. She saw the strong men under Anna's command beating her, her screams of pain nearly tearing her throat apart. She was powerless to resist, only able to curl up on the ground.
She couldn't remember how much she had endured.
In the dim and hazy light, a familiar figure stood tall. George watched coldly from the side, his eyes devoid of any pity, his face twisted in a mocking smile, as if he were watching a fake game.
"Looks like a stray dog," he sneered, his sinister laugh spreading despair within her.
At that moment, Emma felt fear envelop her again. The child ripped from her, the unbearable pain, the nightmares she couldn't escape began to surge in her mind. The merciless blade cut across her eyes, leaving her blind to the world.
In the abyss of darkness, she couldn't even feel pain. She knelt on the ground, desperately searching for what she had lost.
Suddenly, a sharp knife plunged into Emma's heart.
Hatred and pain intertwined into a blade, igniting a furious release within her, telling her it was time to say goodbye to all this, never to sink again.
When she woke up again, light filtered through the curtains into the hospital room, warm and peaceful.
Emma slowly opened her eyes, the room silent, realizing she was in a hospital bed. Next to her, Michael slept soundly with his head cradled on his arm.
A warmth filled Emma's heart as she recalled the dream, feeling a sense of relief. She gently moved, trying to sit up, but the slight movement woke Michael.
"Emma, you're awake!" Michael quickly raised his head, sitting up in a hurry, his expression full of concern and tenderness. His hand immediately reached for Emma, wanting to make sure she was okay.
"I'm fine," Emma whispered, smiling gently to reassure him.
"Really? If you feel uncomfortable anywhere, you have to tell me." Michael held her hand tightly, his eyes filled with care.
"Did you bring me here?"
Emma had no idea what had happened after she fainted yesterday.
"Yesterday, you fainted at the villa. The servants screamed, and I heard it from outside. I rushed in and brought you here," Michael said, brushing Emma's hair from her forehead. "You scared me to death. Please don't do that to me again, okay?"
Emma nodded slightly, promising to take better care of herself.
"Did you stay with me all night? Are you tired?"
"I'm fine, as long as you're okay." Michael relaxed a bit but still didn't want to leave her side.
On the other side of the room, there was another bed where Seraphine slept quietly. She held a small blanket, looking like a little angel, peaceful and serene.
Emma looked at Seraphine, her heart full of tenderness.
"Michael, don't bother. I'm really fine. Why don't you come up and rest with me?" Emma suggested softly.
Michael paused, then a hint of surprise and joy flashed in his eyes, as if he were drowning in her warmth. He nodded, his heart filled with warmth. He slowly climbed onto the bed, gently pulling her into his arms.
They embraced each other, their heartbeats merging in that moment, warmth flowing through the air.
Emma felt incredibly safe in Michael's arms, closing her eyes quietly, letting the fatigue wash over her, enjoying the warmth and support. Just as she was about to fall asleep, a soft whisper reached her ears.
"Mommy, Daddy." Seraphine opened her eyes, seeing Emma and Michael lying comfortably together, and let out a tender call.
Emma was awakened by the sound, turning to see Seraphine looking at her expectantly, her heart warming.
"Seraphine, you're awake?"
"I want to sleep with you too! Can I?" Seraphine grabbed the edge of the bed, her big eyes blinking adorably.
Michael couldn't help but laugh, seeing Seraphine's cute expression, his heart full of affection.
"Come on up." He gently made some space, signaling Seraphine to join them.
Without hesitation, Seraphine jumped onto the bed, like a little bunny, quickly snuggling between Emma and Michael, filling the room with laughter. She wrapped her small arms around Michael's neck, gently pressing her cheek against Emma's arm. They cuddled together.
"This is perfect! We're a family of three!" Seraphine said happily, her smile as bright as the sun, bringing warmth to everyone. Her sweet scent and childish laughter were like the most beautiful melody in the room.
Emma felt a surge of softness in her heart from Seraphine's closeness.
"Of course, we'll always be a family." She hugged Seraphine tightly, letting the little one feel her mother's warmth.
Sunlight poured through the window, bathing them.
And so, they cuddled on the bed, Seraphine dozing off in Emma and Michael's arms, occasionally murmuring sweet dreams, filled with joy even in her sleep. Emma and Michael felt each other's warmth, their hearts filled with tenderness and hope, like the sun shining all over them.
Michael's lips curled into a smile.
Even if this happiness was calculated, he didn't care. As long as he had Emma, nothing else mattered.
"Emma, make a public statement to cut ties with George."
"Okay."
