Chapter 373 Disbelief

"Emma," George's voice was low but firm, "you gotta believe me. This evidence is legit. Michael's been playing you this whole time. He's the reason you can't remember stuff!"

"Enough!" Emma snapped, her eyes a storm of emotions. "George, I don't believe you."

George's heart ached. He wanted to say something, but the words wouldn't come. He'd hurt her before, and those old wounds were now the greatest barrier between them.

Michael sighed, sounding almost sympathetic. "George, Emma's been through enough. Why can't you just leave her be? If you really care about her, stop messing up her life with these so-called proofs."

Emma coldly turned to George. "George, I don't want to deal with you anymore. But if you're so sure your evidence is real, let's make a bet."

George paused, lifting his head to meet her gaze. "What kind of bet?"

Emma took a deep breath. "If your evidence is fake, you have to promise to stay out of my life forever. If you're willing to bet, I'll go with you to see it."

Her words hit George like a ton of bricks. He felt a flicker of pain, but then his resolve hardened.

"Fine, I agree," George said, his voice steady. "If the evidence is fake, I'll disappear from your life for good. But if it's real—Emma, you have to come with me."

Emma was momentarily taken aback by his quick agreement. She felt a slight doubt but quickly pushed it away. She didn't trust George or his so-called truth.

Michael stood by, his eyes deep and his smile knowing. He glanced at his watch and spoke calmly, "Since it's settled, let's go now. I'm curious to see just how ridiculous George's evidence is."

By mid-morning, they drove to the abandoned factory on the outskirts that George had checked out before. The place was surrounded by barbed wire, looking desolate and empty. Michael stood beside Emma, keeping his cool and collected demeanor.

As they reached the factory gate, Michael gently opened the car door, his tone mild. "George, since you're so sure about your truth, I'll bring Emma to see it. But remember, liars often pay a price. Got it?"

George snorted. He led Emma out of the car and into the factory.

When they got to the heart of the factory, the storage room where George had seen all those blue vials was now just an empty, rundown space. Dust and crumbling walls made it look like it had been abandoned for years, with no sign of any drugs.

Emma stood still and turned to George coldly. "Your so-called evidence is an empty factory?"

George's eyes widened in shock. "No way! I saw those vials with my own eyes. How can they be gone?" He rushed to the counter, frantically searching through all the drawers, ignoring the mess.

Michael stepped forward, his tone icy calm. "George, where are the drugs and evidence you mentioned? If you really care about Emma, stop using these lame tricks to hurt her."

Cold sweat drenched George's back, and alarm bells rang in his mind. He realized that Michael had known about his secret visit all along, and the drugs and records had been removed. His every move had been anticipated!

Michael then pulled out a document from his coat and handed it to Emma. "Emma, this is the evidence George made up. He's been hostile towards me, trying to drive a wedge between us. Don't let him fool you."

Emma took the document and found a series of new evidence showing George's tampering with hospital records, fabricating drug uses, and even colluding with a doctor to frame Michael with false evidence.

"George!" Emma's voice was filled with anger as she looked at the document. "How dare you lie to me!"

George stood frozen and turned to Emma's furious expression. His throat tightened. "Emma, it's not like that. This is the fake evidence! Michael is the one manipulating everything!"

Michael smirked, "George, you're talking nonsense. You keep accusing me, but the real problem is you. As a relative, I've tolerated you repeatedly, but I can't stand by while you hurt Emma."

Emma couldn't take it anymore. She clutched her head, pushing away George's hand as he tried to reach for her. "Enough, George! No matter what excuse you have, I won't believe you anymore! Everything points to you deceiving me repeatedly! Don't ever show up in my life again!"

George's heart sank with a despair he had never felt before. His outstretched hand froze in mid-air, feeling utterly powerless.

Michael supported the trembling Emma, gently comforting her. "Emma, don't get upset over this. I'm here for you. Let's go back."

"Emma, listen to me..." George suddenly remembered someone. "I have a witness!"

Emma paused, turning back with cold and weary eyes. "A witness? George, what else do you intend to do? Do you think bringing someone to back up your lies will make me believe you?"

George felt a sharp pain in his heart but gritted his teeth. "It's not just anyone. He's a private investigator who helped me gather evidence. He saw everything and even took evidence from the lab himself! He won't lie to you!"

Emma sneered, her gaze cold and indifferent. "Fine, bring him here. Let's see what other lies you can come up with."

Michael stood by, his eyes deep but maintaining a gentle smile. He lightly patted Emma's shoulder, his tone soft but with a hint of coldness. "Emma, if he's so insistent, let's see. But remember, George will use any means to achieve his goals."

Emma said nothing, just stared coldly at George, waiting for his so-called witness to appear.

George immediately dialed a number. Shortly after, a black sedan pulled into the factory's open space. A middle-aged man in a dark trench coat stepped out. It was Ben Roberts, the private investigator George had hired.
