Chapter 253 Release

"What? Let her go?" The officer whispered, clearly shocked by Dominic's order. "But Mr. Grant, she's a suspect too!"

"As the chief, I'm ordering you to let her go. Right now!" Dominic's voice was firm and unyielding.

The officer responded reluctantly, "Get it, Mr. Grant."

After hanging up the phone, the officer turned to Sophia, his tone softening. "Sophia, we're not arresting you today."

"What?" Sophia looked momentarily confused, trying to make sense of the sudden change.

She couldn't help but wonder, 'What are these cops doing? Are they kidding?'

"Mr. Grant ordered us not to arrest you for now," the officer explained helplessly. "We'll continue our investigation, but for now, you're free to go."

Sophia's heart sank; she had a pretty good idea why.

"Please cooperate with our investigation. If we need anything, we'll contact you again," the officer said, then signaled his colleagues to prepare to leave.

"I understand." Sophia forced a stiff smile.

After the police left, Sophia closed the door and leaned against it.

She didn't know why Dominic was doing this or what she should do next.

The nightmare at Dominic's house resurfaced in her mind.

As night fell, the city's neon lights cast a colorful glow on Sophia's face. She sat on the edge of her bed, her palms slightly sweaty, filled with unease. Ever since the police had come to her house earlier that day, intending to take her away until Dominic intervened, she had been feeling down.

In the quiet of the night, the sound of a text message notification was particularly noticeable.

Sophia nervously opened the message, and sure enough, it was from Dominic: [Tidewater Avenue 38, Dazzle Nightclub.]

She knew he wouldn't let her off so easily.

Sophia knew he wouldn't let her off so easily. The message was short, just an address, but its meaning sent a chill down her spine.

She didn't need to think twice to know what would happen if she went to Dazzle Nightclub tonight. But she had no choice. Dominic could save her this time, but he could abandon her the next. What Dominic did depended entirely on her choices.

Sophia picked out a deep blue dress and paired it with simple high heels, trying to look mature and elegant. In the mirror, despite the hint of nervousness on her face, she looked particularly captivating.

She didn't alert the family driver or take the family car. Instead, she put on a hat and sunglasses and discreetly hailed a cab to Dazzle Nightclub.

As soon as Sophia walked into the lobby, she was led to a private room. The room was dimly lit, with only a faint ambient light, barely illuminating a man sitting on a spacious sofa.

"Mrs. Stuart." A deep, magnetic voice interrupted Sophia's thoughts.

"Mr. Grant, hello." Sophia stopped in her tracks, trying to keep her voice calm.

"Please, have a seat." Dominic smiled slightly, gesturing for her to sit. Then, he sat beside her, his gaze intense, fixed on her.

"Mr. Grant, why did you ask me here today?" Sophia clung to a sliver of hope as she asked.

"Mrs. Stuart, you don't know?" Dominic's tone carried a hint of amusement.

The club's lighting was soft and dreamy, with a faint scent of alcohol in the air. Dominic picked up a glass of wine, smiling slightly, his gaze wandering over Sophia's face, seemingly admiring her beauty.

"Mrs. Stuart, have a drink. We need to relax a bit before we can talk business."

Sophia's heart tightened. Although she knew Dominic's intentions, she had no choice but to pick up the glass and clink it lightly. The wine swirled in the glass, shimmering enticingly.

"Mr. Grant, I'm not much of a drinker," Sophia made one last attempt to resist, but Dominic just smiled lightly, a sly glint in his eye.

"It's okay, just a little," Dominic's voice was deep and magnetic, almost seductive. Sophia took a sip, the cool liquid sliding down her throat.

Sophia's cheeks flushed as the alcohol took effect, and she felt her tension ease slightly.

Under the influence of the alcohol, Sophia became even more alluring. Dominic's gaze was like that of a hunter, locked onto her, as if admiring a precious work of art.

"You're truly beautiful," Dominic's voice was deep and magnetic, with a hint of flirtation. "I've always thought you were a smart and charming woman."

Dominic's compliment sent a jolt through Sophia. She turned her head slightly, trying to avoid his gaze, but found Dominic's hand gently resting on her wrist, the warmth making her uneasy.

"Mr. Grant, please don't," her voice trembled slightly, a wave of resistance rising within her.

"I just want you to relax a bit," Dominic's tone was gentle, as if trying to soothe her nerves. His fingers lightly brushed her wrist, sending a subtle electric current through her.

"I really don't feel comfortable," Sophia tried to make her voice sound firm, but her heart was racing, and Henry's image kept flashing in her mind.

Dominic's gaze grew more intense. He leaned in slightly, whispering, "You don't need to be afraid. I'll protect you. As long as you cooperate, I'll give you everything you want."

"I don't want anything," Sophia whispered in refusal.

"Really? What about Lyanna's accusations? She claims you were the one who directed her. Do you want to end up in jail with your daughter?" Dominic's voice was deep and magnetic, hinting at something sinister.

The alcohol clouded Sophia's thoughts. She struggled to stay clear-headed but found herself falling into Dominic's gentle trap. His fingers lightly caressed her hand, bringing a wave of warmth and complex emotions.

"You're truly beautiful, Mrs. Stuart," Dominic's voice was deep and magnetic, with a hint of desire. "I want to know you better."

"No, you can't!" Sophia finally mustered the courage to break free from Dominic's hand. She wanted to escape this suffocating environment. "I need to go home. I can't be with you..."

The rest of the words were too shameful to say, but her refusal was clear.

Of course, this time she wouldn't give in!

Even if Dominic used Lyanna to threaten her, she wouldn't yield. She was innocent. She hadn't done any of the things Lyanna accused her of. She didn't believe Dominic could control everything.

Dominic was momentarily stunned, then a faint smile appeared on his face.

"Alright, if you want to go, I won't stop you," Dominic agreed surprisingly easily. Sophia could hardly believe it. It turned out that if she just had the courage, she could resist these shady forces.

So what did her previous compromises mean?

Sophia walked out of Dazzle Nightclub, the night breeze gently blowing away some of her tension. However, Dominic's flirtatious words and gentle expression still echoed in her mind.

Dominic had always been relentless in pursuing her, but tonight he let her go so easily. It was unusual.

Sophia's heart began to race again. Did he have another plan?
