Chapter 562 Perfume Blending
Emma felt a sharp pain in her chest.
Even though she knew George might be pulling the strings behind the scenes, the thought of him cozying up to another woman made her heart ache.
Emma was well aware that George had been collecting "Ava" perfumes over the years, one of the few memories she had of him.
"Ava? Are you still with me?" Wanda's voice snapped her back to reality.
"Yeah, I'm here," Emma forced herself to stay calm. "What kind of effect are you looking for?"
"I want George to think of me the moment he smells it," Wanda said bluntly, "something he can't resist."
Emma closed her eyes, picturing George's deep, mesmerizing eyes. She knew his preferences all too well, knew exactly what kind of scent would captivate him.
In the three years at Sunterra, Scarlett had ordered quite a few perfumes from her, mostly to help her sleep.
"I can give it a shot," Emma finally said, "but my perfumes are tailored to the user's characteristics. Can you tell me what kind of perfumes you usually wear?"
Wanda listed several luxury brands, all intense and seductive, completely opposite to George's preference for fresh, woody scents.
A bitter smile tugged at Emma's lips. "Got it. I'll have a sample for you in three days."
After hanging up, Emma stood at her workbench, unmoving for a long time. The sunlight remained warm, but it couldn't chase away the chill in her heart.
She slowly picked up an unfinished vial and sniffed it gently. This was a scent she had specially crafted for George, blending the steadiness of cedarwood with the freshness of citrus, and a faint hint of rose in the base notes, reminiscent of the white rose blooming in the school garden when they first met.
"So quick to find a new flame? George, can I still trust you?" Emma murmured, pouring the liquid from the vial into the waste bin.
By evening, Zachary received a detailed report on George's lab. He sat in a private club booth, meticulously reading through each page.
"Just as I thought." His finger paused on a photo of George, deeply focused on adjusting a microscope, his gaze almost reverent.
The report indicated that the drug's development was in its final stages, with an 80% success rate. If successful, Emma could regain all her memories in a short time.
Zachary's frown deepened. He knew Michael too well; if he found out about this, he would stop at nothing to prevent it. Things would only spiral out of control.
"I have to keep this from him." Zachary made up his mind and dialed the lab's internal contact.
"I need you to delay the drug's progress," he said bluntly, "by at least two weeks, no matter what it takes."
"That's going to be tough."
"That's your problem. I only care about results."
Zachary hung up.
He spread the photos out on the coffee table, his fingers tapping lightly on a close-up. In the photo, George was bent over the microscope, adjusting the focus with sharp precision, not at all like someone who should be blind.
"Interesting." Zachary squinted, dialing his private investigator. "I need you to keep an eye on George 24/7, especially his eyes. If he's really blind, how can he handle lab equipment so precisely?"
After hanging up, Zachary carefully examined the other photos. One showed George walking alone down the lab corridor, his steps steady, even avoiding the power cords on the floor. It was too unusual.
"George, what game are you playing?" Zachary muttered, a glint of intrigue in his eyes.
Emma's studio was filled with the fragrance of various essential oils. She stood at her mixing table, surrounded by dozens of small bottles, each containing a different oil.
"Sandalwood is too grounding," Emma murmured, pushing a bottle aside. "Jasmine is too innocent."
Her fingers hovered over a bottle of deep red oil. It was Damascus rose oil, each drop worth a fortune. She carefully extracted a drop and placed it on a scent strip.
"Rose." Emma closed her eyes, recalling George's favorite scent. He had once said he loved the faint rose fragrance she wore.
But this time was different. This perfume was for another woman, one who wanted to seduce George.
Pain flickered in Emma's eyes, then turned to resolve.
She couldn't be jealous or sabotage the perfume because of her feelings. This might be part of George's plan.
So, she had to complete Wanda's order with the highest quality.
Emma took out a small bottle containing a special ingredient, ylang-ylang, known for its mild aphrodisiac effects.
"If you want to seduce him..." Emma murmured, adding a few drops of ylang-ylang to the mix, "I'll help you out."
She added some citrus and cedarwood to balance the intense floral notes. Finally, she included a rare ingredient, ambergris, one of the world's most expensive scents, known for its irresistible allure.
The perfume gradually took shape, achieving a remarkable balance. top notes of fresh citrus, heart notes of seductive rose and ylang-ylang, and base notes of grounding cedarwood and mysterious ambergris.
"Perfect." Emma poured the perfume into a delicate glass bottle and labeled it "Ava."
Three days later, Wanda arrived as scheduled. She wore a tight red dress and high heels, exuding bold sensuality.
"Ava, I've heard so much about you." Wanda glanced around the elegant studio, a hint of jealousy in her eyes. "I didn't expect you to be so young and beautiful."
The assistant smiled slightly, placing the perfume bottle on the table. "This is crafted according to your request."
Emma didn't show herself; she didn't want Wanda to know she was Ava.
Wanda eagerly picked up the bottle and sprayed a bit on her wrist. A captivating scent immediately filled the air, even making her feel a bit intoxicated.
"Oh my God, this smell..." Wanda took a deep breath. "It's amazing!"
The assistant calmly explained, "The top notes are fresh citrus, the heart notes are rose and ylang-ylang, and the base notes are cedarwood and ambergris. It will subtly change with body temperature, making it irresistible to anyone who smells it."
Greed flashed in Wanda's eyes. "This will definitely captivate George!"
"Hope you like it."
