Chapter 114 Congratulations on Your Opening
Anna went on a rampage, her fury manifesting in the violent shattering of everything within reach in the hospital room.
Lucas shut his eyes, not wanting to see Anna acting all crazy again.
Anna was always like this. When George was around, she was all sweet and gentle. But the moment he was gone, she turned into a total nightmare.
Lucas didn't want a mom like her; he wanted someone like Isabella, who was always kind and gentle.
He still felt happy thinking about the hug Isabella gave him last time.
Lucas had figured out a lot of things. He knew Anna didn't like him, so he stopped trying to please her. And George just paid child support and never really cared.
Lucas got sick last night because of Anna. He remembered it clearly. Freya had closed his window tight before bed.
But in the middle of the night, he woke up freezing. The window was open, and his bedding was soaked.
It was obvious someone did it on purpose, and that someone was Anna.
As night fell, Emma's Miss Lady boutique was lit up with dazzling lights and colorful banners at the entrance.
The store was decked out with glittering jewels, flowers, and a lovely fragrance.
Industry folks came to congratulate her, bringing fancy flower baskets. The sound of well-wishes filled the air, like the whole world was celebrating her grand opening.
Emma, resplendent in her status and reputation within the industry, navigated the crowd with poised enthusiasm. The opening was going smoothly. Emma was a bit surprised that Anna hadn't shown up to cause trouble on such a big day.
But George hadn't come either. Emma speculated that perhaps Anna had cleverly orchestrated something to occupy George, suggesting that his feelings for Anna persisted.
Just as Emma was lost in thought, the sky suddenly lit up with brilliant colors.
She looked up to see the city adorned with dreamlike, colorful fireworks. They bloomed in the sky like flowers, dazzling and captivating, grabbing everyone's attention.
"It's so beautiful!" someone exclaimed from the crowd.
The fireworks exploded in the night sky, with multicolored lights creating a visual feast. People took out their phones to capture the moment, and social media was instantly flooded with posts about the fireworks show.
At that moment, George walked into the store, followed by a staff member responsible for the fireworks.
He smiled, holding a beautifully crafted invitation that read: [Citywide Fireworks, Congratulations on Isabella's Grand Opening.]
He walked up to Emma, his gaze deep. "Congrats on your opening. The future looks bright."
"Thank you, Mr. Russell."
Just then, Sophia arrived at the opening. She spotted Emma right away, her heart skipped a beat, and her face turned pale.
She shouted loudly, "Emma, it's impossible! You were already dead!"
Her voice cut through the laughter and cheers, making everyone turn to look at her.
Emma walked up with a smile and said, "Mrs. Sophia Stuart, welcome. I've heard from Ms. Anna Stuart and Mr. Russell that I look just like Emma. Now with your confirmation, it seems I really have a common face."
"You're not Emma? No way. How can there be two people who look exactly the same? Absolutely impossible. Emma! As long as I'm alive, I won't let you hurt Anna," Sophia shouted.
Emma's expression didn't change; she kept that gentle smile. She had already given up on family love.
Even though Sophia was her mother, all her affection went to Anna. Emma didn't want that kind of cheap motherly love.
"Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Isabella, the founder of the Miss Lady brand," Emma said, extending her hand politely to Sophia.
Sophia, however, recoiled in horror, retreating as if she had seen an apparition.
"You're a ghost!" Sophia screamed, her eyes wide with fear. The crowd exchanged puzzled looks, making the scene super awkward.
Seeing this, Henry stepped in to calm her down. "Sophia, maybe we really got it wrong."
He continued, "Look, George came to her opening ceremony. If she were really Emma, George would hate her too much to come, let alone bring her a gift."
Sophia tried to rationalize the encounter, but her suspicion and fear remained palpable. That night, no matter where Emma went, Sophia kept a wary eye on her every move.
As the event continued, a plain car pulled up to the store entrance. The quiet night was disrupted as the doors swung open, releasing a dozen troublemakers onto the scene.
When Emma saw them, she finally felt relieved. Anna had finally made a move. This kind of obvious trouble was way easier to handle than sneaky schemes.
The group of troublemakers, with their smug smiles, instantly grabbed everyone's attention.
"This place is really nice!" the leader, Rex, shouted. The other troublemakers laughed, making the high-society guests glance over frequently.
"What can I do for you, sir?" The manager stepped forward with a faint smile.
"We're here to check out your jewelry. I heard it's very expensive!" Rex said casually, walking to a display case and reaching for a sparkling necklace. The manager quickly stepped in to stop him. "If you need anything, our staff can assist you."
"Can't I touch it?" Rex smirked and forcefully opened the display case door. The necklace fell to the ground with a crisp shattering sound, causing the surrounding customers to gasp.
"What are you doing?" The manager raised his voice.
Emma stopped the manager and calmly sounded the alarm, which connected directly to the police. She knew they'd arrive soon.
"How pathetic!" Rex had no idea what Emma had just done. He thought everyone in the store was too scared to resist, so he signaled the other troublemakers to continue.
The others immediately started smashing things around the store. The display case glass shattered under their rampage, and the jewelry scattered on the ground.
The crowd, full of people who had seen big scenes, were just curious about who Isabella had pissed off to provoke such shameless revenge.
As the troublemakers continued their rampage, the sound of urgent police sirens came from outside the store, and their faces instantly changed.
Rex was furious, clearly not expecting things to escalate this far. They quickly headed for the back door, but the police had already surrounded the entire street. Not a single troublemaker could escape.
