Chapter 239 Going to the Amusement Park
In the conference room, Emma sat at the table, deeply engrossed in the design plans in her hands. Hearing a noise at the door, she looked up and saw Sophia and Henry. She was momentarily surprised but then gave a faint smile. "Hey, what brings you two here? Need something?"
"Isabella, we need to talk," Sophia said, stepping forward, trying to keep her voice gentle and sincere. "It's about Anna."
Emma's expression instantly turned cold, a hint of wariness flashing in her eyes. "I don't want to talk about her."
"Please, just hear me out," Sophia took a deep breath and continued, "We know there have been a lot of misunderstandings between you and Anna, but she's in a really tough spot right now. If you could find it in your heart to forgive her, we'd be incredibly grateful."
"Forgive her?" Emma let out a cold laugh, her tone dripping with disdain. "Do you know how much she hurt me, and now you want me to forgive her? What a jok!"
"We know she messed up, but she's been punished for it," Henry interjected, his voice pleading. "We hope you can give her another chance. After all, she's young, and everyone makes mistakes."
A flicker of sadness crossed Emma's eyes, but it was quickly replaced by indifference. "I have no obligation to forgive her. She wanted me gone; she never showed me any mercy, and now she expects me to let it go?"
"We're willing to do anything to make it up to you," Sophia continued to persuade, hoping to sway her.
"Anything?" Emma raised an eyebrow, seemingly intrigued by the offer.
"Yes, we'll support your career, invest in your business," Henry added.
He didn't know Emma well, but he figured that as a designer and a businesswoman, she would prioritize her career. Supporting her business seemed like a safe bet.
Emma was silent for a moment, contemplating their words. Finally, she spoke slowly, "Alright, I might consider forgiving her, but I have my conditions."
"Name them," Sophia and Henry said almost in unison.
As long as she was willing to set conditions, there was room for negotiation.
"I want you to do three things for me," Emma held up three fingers.
"Three things? We'll do anything you ask if needed!" Henry said excitedly. Sophia, equally thrilled, almost reached out to grab Emma's hand but awkwardly pulled back due to their strained relationship.
"First, spend a day with me at the amusement park."
"Amusement park?" They exchanged puzzled looks.
They had braced themselves for Isabella to make exorbitant demands, but this request was completely unexpected.
Why the amusement park?
It was a place for kids, and they hadn't been to one in years.
"Yes, the amusement park," Emma nodded firmly, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "What? You don't want to?"
"Of course, we agree," Henry quickly responded. This was such a simple request; they had no reason to refuse.
"Great!" Emma beamed, clearly excited about the arrangement. "So it's settled. Tomorrow morning, meet me at the amusement park entrance."
Emma and Sophia rarely had such harmonious moments, and Emma cherished it. At this moment, she only hoped that when theylearned the whole truth, they wouldn't be too devastated.
They probably didn't know the real reason behind Molly's death yet.
When would be the right time to tell them?
That evening, Sophia and Henry returned home, still puzzled by Isabella's request.
"Why does Isabella want us to spend a day at the amusement park with her?" Henry asked, still baffled by the suggestion.
Sophia suddenly remembered that Isabella had once mentioned losing her parents at a young age. Could it be related to that?
Maybe she just longed for a sense of family and was using this opportunity to make up for the lost moments of her childhood.
"She's had a tough life. I wonder if she ever found her parents," Sophia felt a pang of sympathy.
"Hopefully, she did. Even though she has her flaws, it's not entirely her fault. She didn't have parents to guide her," Henry said with understanding in his voice.
Sophia and Henry exchanged a look, gradually understanding Isabella's feelings. Although the amusement park idea surprised them, they were willing to try for Anna's sake.
"We need to make sure we spend quality time with her," Sophia said firmly, silently vowing to change their attitude and treat Isabella better once Anna was back.
As night fell, Emma finished her workday and stepped out of her shop. The twinkling lights outside illuminated her face. She felt a mix of excitement and nervousness about the upcoming trip to the amusement park.
Michael was already waiting at the door. When he saw Emma, he gave her a warm smile. "Tough day? How was work?"
"Not bad," Emma smiled back, feeling a wave of warmth.
No matter the time or place, Michael always cared about her well-being.
"I heard you're going to the amusement park with Sophia and Henry?" Michael's voice was filled with concern, a hint of worry in his eyes.
"Yeah," Emma nodded, feeling a bit anxious. "I just..."
"No need to explain, I get it."
Emma just wanted to spend a day with them, making up for the lost time of her childhood.
Michael's heart ached for her. Emma's past hadn't been easy. Losing her parents at a young age, she had always yearned for family, but when she sought them out, she faced rejection and hurt.
At this moment, he felt Emma's deep vulnerability and longing, and he couldn't help but hold her tightly.
"Emma, I'll always support you," Michael's voice was gentle yet firm. "No matter what you do, I'll be by your side."
Just then, Seraphine ran over and hugged Emma's leg, looking up with eyes full of expectation. "Mommy, I support you too!"
Emma looked down at Seraphine's clear, bright eyes and felt a warmth in her heart.
She knelt down, gently stroking Seraphine's hair, and smiled. "Thank you, Seraphine!"
In that moment, the three of them embraced tightly, creating a heartwarming scene. Michael held Emma, while Seraphine clung to her leg, each expressing their love and support in their own way.
"We're a family, always together," Michael said softly, his heart filled with gratitude for their family.
