Chapter 304 Surveillance
"Nice work," Michael said, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.
"But we gotta be careful with Isabella. She might seem like she's on our side, but I have a feeling she's got her own agenda," Zachary suddenly interjected.
Michael's brow furrowed slightly. Zachary's concerns mirrored his own.
Even though Emma had been helping them steal the Russell Group's core data, and despite the fact that George had hurt her deeply, Emma was a person of strong emotions and loyalty. She had once loved George so much, and now they were married. Could she really let go of George and fully align herself with them?
Moreover, Emma was grateful to Charles. Out of respect for him, she wouldn't completely destroy the Russell family.
And then there was Lucas.
Every time Michael saw Lucas, he could see a bit of Emma in him. Lucas was looking more and more like her. No one doubted this anymore, probably because it was hidden in plain sight.
In the future, when Lucas grew up, this secret would likely come out.
"Isabella is no simple character," Zachary said, his voice tinged with caution. "Her relationship with George is complicated. We can't fully trust her. I'll have someone keep a close eye on her. If she makes any suspicious moves, I'll report to you immediately."
"Good," Michael nodded, standing up, his eyes gleaming with determination. "Within three months, the Russell Group must be ours."
"No problem," Zachary replied, a hint of excitement in his voice. "I'll give it my all to ensure the plan goes smoothly."
Michael nodded slightly, a meaningful smile playing on his lips. He knew the current situation was under control. Sooner or later, he would completely destroy the Russell family to avenge his parents.
Michael muttered to himself, "Emma, don't let me down."
Meanwhile, Emma stood on the top floor of the Russell Group headquarters, overlooking the bustling city nightscape. She lost in thought, her mind quietly contemplating the next steps.
"George, how much longer can you hold on?" she murmured to herself.
Perhaps it was time for all of this to end.
In the Russell Group headquarters' conference room, the atmosphere was so tense it was almost suffocating.
Board members sat around the long table, their gazes sharp as knives, fixed on George, who sat at the head. Their faces were filled with dissatisfaction and doubt, clearly disappointed with the current situation.
"Mr. Russell, we've given you enough time, but you still don't know who the mole is," one board member said coldly. "As a CEO, you only know how to talk about love and have no work capability. What use are you?"
His disdain and contempt for George were undisguised.
Another board member snorted, "Even if you figure out who's targeting us, so what? Can you fix it?"
"I need time," George said, his voice low, his eyes reflecting exhaustion and helplessness. He had secured an investment abroad; once the funds were injected, it would alleviate the Russell Group's immediate crisis.
"What a joke! We don't have any more time!" an elderly board member slammed the table. "George, are you deliberately stalling? Or is this all a conspiracy by your Russell family?"
"What do you mean by that?" George's face turned grim, anger surging within him.
"What do I mean? You know very well!" the board member sneered, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "We just received word that the mole is your wife, Isabella! Isn't this all a well-orchestrated play by your Russell family?"
"What?" George was stunned, disbelief flashing in his eyes.
He had tried to keep it hidden. How did these old men find out? What else had they uncovered?
"Mr. Russell, do you have anything to say?" the board member's voice was cold and mocking. "We've completely lost trust in you. If you can't give a reasonable explanation, we'll consider removing you from your position."
The board's dissatisfaction had reached its peak.
At that moment, the conference room door was gently pushed open, and Emma walked in. Her steps were steady, a calm smile on her face, as if everything was under control.
"Gentlemen, I believe I can explain everything," Emma's clear and powerful voice instantly drew everyone's attention.
"Ms. Taylor, what do you have to say for yourself?" a board member asked coldly, as if already guessing Emma's intentions.
"I've found the person who leaked the information at the press conference," Emma smiled slightly. "It wasn't me. It was someone from the tech department named Kara. You can investigate thoroughly, but whether Kara is still in the country is another matter."
"Are you trying to frame her? Or find a scapegoat?" the board member frowned, scrutinizing Emma.
"I've only been with the Russell Group for a few days. How could I have that kind of power? But Kara was indeed coerced into leaking the company's core data. And the mastermind behind it all..." Emma paused for effect, "is none other than Mr. Russell's mother, Scarlett."
"Scarlett?" The board members were clearly puzzled.
Emma replied, "Yes. Scarlett used Kara's position to steal the Russell Group's core data and attempted to destroy the company through public opinion and business tactics."
"What evidence do you have?" The board members hadn't realized they were now following Emma's lead.
"Here's Kara's confession and the evidence we've gathered," Emma placed a file on the table. "You can review it thoroughly."
The board members picked up the file and began to read. As they delved deeper, their expressions grew more serious, clearly shocked by the evidence Emma provided.
"Moreover, when investigating the mole's IP address, George ordered Joshua to make a show of it, not to try too hard. Joshua, isn't that right?" Emma looked at Joshua's bloodshot eyes, smiling as she played a recording.
"Take your time finding it."
"Aren't you in a hurry? Should we keep investigating?"
"We need to keep up appearances."
George and Joshua's conversation played out, and the board members suddenly understood. It was all Scarlett's doing, and George knew about it!
The Russell family wanted to destroy the Russell Group!
"Ms. Taylor, we owe you an apology. We were too hasty," one board member stood up and bowed apologetically. "Given the current dire situation, we must act quickly to mitigate the company's losses."
People tend to follow the crowd. One sincere apology led others to feel some remorse.
Emma had thus turned the tables, from suspect to savior. But she didn't boast; instead, she spoke with a sense of responsibility.
"I understand your difficulties. I'll personally make amends for Scarlett and George's mistakes. I'll do everything I can to help the company through this crisis."
"Ms. Taylor, we owe you our thanks. If it weren't for you uncovering the truth in time, we'd still be in the dark," another board member said gratefully.
"It's my duty," Emma replied.
