Chapter 224 Fraudulently Acquiring Shares

"What do you want?" Anna asked, her voice urgent.

Scarlett smirked, "Transfer some shares of the Stuart Group to me. Only then can I make sure you have a place in the Russell family."

Hearing that, Anna was taken aback.

She hadn't expected Scarlett to ask for something like that. The shares of the Stuart Group were incredibly important to her, but the chance to live in George's house was too tempting to pass up.

"I... I can agree to that," Anna finally said, gritting her teeth.

"Great." Scarlett's face lit up with a satisfied smile. "As soon as you transfer the shares to me, I'll talk to George about letting you move into the Russell Villa."

When Anna had returned to the Stuart family, Sophia and Henry had already transferred some of their shares to her.

"When do you plan to transfer the shares to me?" Scarlett knew Anna wouldn't dare refuse her request.

"No rush. You need to fulfill your promise first..." Anna wasn't about to hand over the shares until she was actually living in the Russell Villa. What if Scarlett went back on her word?

She needed some assurance first.

"Fair enough," Scarlett agreed readily.

A few minutes later, Scarlett gave Anna the code to the Russell Villa and instructed the butler to prepare a room for her.

Anna replied, "Thank you. I will make the most of this opportunity."

To ensure everything went smoothly, Scarlett personally called George.

"George, I just spoke with Anna. She'll be staying at your villa for a while." Scarlett wasn't asking; instead, she was informing him.

"I don't agree with this," George said, clearly displeased with the arrangement.

"I don't want to hear any objections," Scarlett's tone turned stern. "Anna is now my business partner. Her shares are crucial for our Russell family's future. In..."

"In what?" George asked.

Scarlett fell silent. The deal with Anna to transfer the Stuart Group shares was a private arrangement, and the fewer people who knew about it, the better. Besides, Anna had only agreed to transfer the shares; it hadn't actually happened yet. Until everything was finalized, she couldn't risk George driving Anna away.

Scarlett sighed and waved her hand dismissively. "Never mind! Just don't kick her out."

"But..." George tried to argue but was cut off by Scarlett.

"No buts! You need to understand that the family's interests come first. The longer she stays at your villa, the better it is for us." Scarlett's voice carried an undeniable authority.

"Fine, I understand," George reluctantly agreed, though he was filled with resentment at the thought of Anna moving in.

After hanging up, Scarlett breathed a sigh of relief.

Her decision would impact the relationship between the Stuart and Russell families, and Anna's presence would bring more opportunities for them.

Meanwhile, Anna settled into the Russell Villa.

Her first task was to erase any trace of Emma from the place. Emma had left many marks in the villa, and Anna couldn't tolerate any of them.

As soon as she entered George's room, Anna felt a strong sense of oppression.

Everything in the room carried Emma's presence—photos on the walls, old belongings on the desk, even a bottle of her perfume on the nightstand. Every detail reminded Anna that Emma still held a place in George's heart.

"Not anymore," Anna muttered to herself.

She got to work, ruthlessly clearing out anything related to Emma. She tore up the photos, tossed the old belongings into a trash bag, and even got rid of letters and small items on the desk. Each item she saw filled her with unease and anger, as if they were mocking her existence.

"I am the lady of this house now," Anna vowed to herself, determined to change everything.

After half a day of hard work, the room looked completely different. Anna stood in front of the mirror, satisfied with her efforts, feeling a sense of accomplishment. She had successfully erased Emma's traces.

"Now, this is my home," Anna smiled to herself, feeling a surge of pride.

As night fell, the villa was bathed in soft, warm light. Anna busied herself in the kitchen.

She decided to prepare a special candlelit dinner for George, hoping to bring them closer.

At the dining table, Anna lit several candles, creating a cozy atmosphere. She set the table neatly, adding a vase of flowers for a touch of romance. She imagined George's expression when he came home, and a wave of sweetness washed over her.

"Tonight, I'll make sure he feels my sincerity," Anna whispered to herself, a hopeful smile on her face.

As time ticked by, Anna grew increasingly nervous. She kept checking her phone, waiting for news of George's return. Finally, at seven o'clock, she heard the sound of the door code being entered.

"You're back!" Anna quickly adjusted her clothes and composed herself, ready to greet him.

George opened the door and took in the scene, his brow furrowing with obvious displeasure. The candlelit table looked warm and inviting, the air filled with delicious aromas, but he had no interest in any of it.

"Anna, what are you doing?" George's voice was cold.

"I made dinner for you," Anna said with a hopeful smile. "Come on; let's dine."

George approached the table, his eyes scanning the setup. When he looked at Anna's face, a feeling of disgust overtook him.

He added, "I'm not hungry."

Remembering Scarlett's instructions, George didn't immediately kick Anna out, but he couldn't bring himself to have dinner with her. He headed straight for his room.

Anna's heart sank. She was about to follow him when she heard him roar from the room. Her heart tightened, and she hurried after him.

"You touched my things! What did you do with Emma's things?" George was furious, his eyes blazing as he glared at Anna.

Anna hesitated, "I... I threw them away!"

"Threw them away? How dare you!" George's eyes were red with anger.

"I just wanted to make this place more suitable for us," Anna tried to explain.

"Who gave you permission to enter my room? Anna! Just because I let you stay here doesn't mean you can touch my things!" George's rage exploded. He flipped the dining table, sending candles and dishes crashing to the floor. "Tell me, where did you put Emma's things?"

"The... the trash," Anna stammered, shocked by the turn of events. She hadn't thought it would come to this. Was it really such a big deal to throw away some of Emma's things?

Was it really worth all this?
