Chapter 355 Taking Possession

Scarlett had taken a massive hit, losing not just her shares but also getting conned out of most of her assets.

But she didn't have time to dwell on it. There was a rapid knock at the door. Scarlett annoyed and opened it. Standing there were several burly guys, with the leader holding a contract and sneering.

"Are you Scarlett? We're here to collect," the leader said, his tone icy and devoid of any politeness.

Scarlett's expression changed, but she tried to keep her cool. "What money? I have no idea what you're talking about!"

The man sneered, waving the contract. "I've seen plenty of folks like you trying to dodge their debts. This is the mortgage contract you signed. Since you can't pay up, the house is ours. You need to move out now, or don't blame us if things get worse."

Scarlett put her hands on her hips and yelled, "How dare you! This is my house! I have no money to repay you! If you try to take my house, I'll fight you!"

The man remained unfazed. "So, you're forcing us to get rough? Fine!"

With that, he signaled his men, who barged into the house and started hauling out furniture and belongings. Scarlett tried to stop them, but one of the men shoved her aside, and she fell to the floor.

"You thieves! You'll pay for this!" She cried and shouted, but no one paid her any mind.

Meanwhile, Jack had just gotten home.

He'd been out for days, trying to recover the lost shares, completely unaware of the chaos at home. As he approached the house, he saw people moving furniture, and Scarlett was on the ground, her face streaked with tears.

"What the hell is going on here?" Jack rushed over, grabbing one of the men moving the furniture, demanding an explanation.

The man shrugged off his hand. "This house has been mortgaged. We're here to collect. You need to leave now."

Jack was stunned, not comprehending the situation. He turned to Scarlett, demanding, "Scarlett, what is this? How could the house be mortgaged?"

Scarlett was crying too hard to speak, just shaking her head. Jack felt a surge of anger. He turned to the men, shouting, "Stop it! This is our house! Who do you think you are, barging in here like that?"

The leader smirked, handing Jack the contract. "This is the mortgage contract your wife signed. She can't pay up, so the house is ours. If you don't like it, take it to court. But for now, you need to leave."

Jack quickly scanned the contract, his face going pale. He turned to Scarlett, grabbing her shoulders and yelling, "Scarlett, are you out of your mind? How dare you mortgage the house? This was our last asset!"

Scarlett sobbed, "I just wanted to invest and make the money back. But Phoenix tricked me, and now I have nothing."

Jack was shaking with anger. He pushed Scarlett away and turned to the men, saying, "You can't do this! This house is ours. You have no right to take it!"

The leader ignored him and the men surrounded Jack. He tried to fight back but was quickly punched to the ground. Struggling to get up, they held him down and beat him.

"Do you know who I am?" Jack lay on the ground, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. He had never been treated like this before.

"Just a pathetic loser."

"I'm Jack Russell, George's father!"

The leader paused, seemingly recognizing the name. Jack thought he had scared him, but then the leader said, "Oh, the George who ruined his reputation and went bankrupt at Lakeside Haven, right? No wonder George is so useless. With you as his father, it's no surprise."

The man's mockery made Jack feel utterly humiliated.

Jack was completely hopeless.

He was held down, watching helplessly as the last piece of furniture was taken away. He and Scarlett were thrown out of their home, left standing on the empty street, with passersby giving them strange looks.

"What do we do now?" Scarlett asked quietly.

Jack was silent for a moment, then gritted his teeth. "Let's find a place to stay first. We'll figure out the rest later."

"Maybe we should go to George."

Jack hesitated. "Go to George? Are you nuts? Have you forgotten how he treated us in court? If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have lost the Stuart Group shares. Damn it, I almost forgot, he promised compensation for the Stuart Group! He promised it himself! I have no money!"

"Then where do we stay tonight?"

Scarlett's question left Jack speechless.

The house was gone. Where would they stay tonight? They couldn't sleep under a bridge like homeless people.

Jack angrily dialed George's number. "I raised him! He lost the Russell Group, so he has to take care of me!"

After learning about the situation between Jack and Scarlett, George decided to teach them a lesson.

"Joshua, redeem the house, but don't tell my parents. Buy them a small apartment, just enough for them to live in."

"But Mr. Jack Russell and Mrs. Russell, will they be comfortable?"

"If others can live there, so can they!"

"Yes, Mr. George Russell. I'll arrange it."

Joshua was about to leave when George called him back. Joshua thought George had more instructions, but after a moment of silence, George finally spoke. "Joshua, you've worked hard these days."

George and Joshua looked around at their surroundings. They were in a converted air defense base, George's secret hideout. It wasn't luxurious, but it was functional.

"Hard? This place is great. I don't have to deal with those flashy secretaries every day. My job is much easier. Honestly, Mr. Russell, when we get back, how about we replace all the secretaries with mutes?"

"Get out." George kicked Joshua playfully. His words seemed harsh, but they were full of warmth.

Joshua left the office with a smile. But as soon as he closed the door, his smile faded, replaced by determination.

No matter how tough the road to reclaiming the Russell Group was, he would stand by George and fight!
