Chapter 290 No Expulsion Allowed
Forget everything else for a moment. Let's just focus on how Phoenix managed to get George home after he got drunk at a party.
Or how Phoenix handled the PR disaster when George accidentally slept with a scheming woman who threw herself at him.
What about when a woman showed up at the door with a child, claiming it was George's? How did Phoenix deal with that?
Or during an international conference, when George had to leave suddenly, how did Phoenix manage the remaining tasks?
Joshua had dealt with countless situations like these. In his opinion, it was the hardest and most thankless job in the world to be an assistant. If someone else could take over, he would switch roles in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, George had no intention of letting go of such a versatile subordinate like Joshua.
"If you don't leave right now, I'll have HR fire you!" George said mercilessly.
Phoenix's heart tightened. She knew she had angered George, but she wasn't ready to give up. . She continued, "You can't do this! Aunt Scarlett sent me here. I don't want to leave!"
Realizing Phoenix's stubbornness, George immediately called the HR manager.
"Come to my office right away."
Soon after, the HR manager arrived, ready to process Phoenix's termination. Phoenix grew increasingly anxious, realizing the situation was spiraling out of her control.
Just then, Scarlett walked into the office. Seeing the HR manager preparing documents, she immediately sensed something was wrong.
"What's going on?" Scarlett asked, frowning as her gaze shifted between George and Phoenix.
"Mom, the company isn't a place for you to mess around. Phoenix has to go!" George said without hesitation.
"I won't allow it!" Scarlett retorted immediately. "She studied abroad for so long and learned a lot. She came back to benefit the Russell Group. Is there anything wrong with that? Besides, I'm one of the shareholders of the Russell Group. Can't I arrange for someone to join the company? George, are you saying you don't want to acknowledge me as your mother anymore?"
"Her behavior has already disrupted the company's operations!" George's voice was filled with displeasure.
"She's young; it's inevitable that she'll make mistakes. Just teach her properly! She's your cousin!" Scarlett continued, her voice firm. "George, you can't make such a decision out of anger!"
Scarlett's voice grew more resolute, even tinged with a hint of desperation. "If you really fire her, I won't live with it!"
George was stunned. He hadn't expected Scarlett to resort to such measures. His heart was shaken as he saw the tears welling up in Scarlett's eyes.He realized that Scarlett was serious.
"You!" George's voice was filled with helplessness and anxiety.
"I don't care what you think. Phoenix is not leaving!" Scarlett's voice was decisive.
The atmosphere in the office became tense and oppressive. George was torn. He knew Scarlett's insistence came from her concern for Phoenix, but he also understood that Phoenix's actions had already affected the company's normal operations.
Of course, there was another reason he didn't mention. He feared that if he brought up Emma's name, Scarlett's stance would become even more unyielding.
"Fine." George finally relented. "But I decide her position."
"Alright, it's all up to you." Scarlett's face lit up with a satisfied smile.
After all, the Russell Group was their family business. Everyone knew Phoenix was George's cousin, and no one dared to assign her any tough tasks. No matter what position George placed Phoenix in, Scarlett had ways to make Phoenix a nuisance for Isabella.
Phoenix watched everything unfold silently, secretly pleased that she had managed to keep her position for now.
Scarlett didn't linger in George's office. She hadn't come to the Russell Group just to resolve Phoenix's minor issue. Her real goal was to get rid of Isabella.
When Scarlett arrived at the administration department, she found Isabella wasn't there.
"Where does Isabella sit?" Scarlett asked.
The junior employees hadn't seen Scarlett at the Russell Group before, but judging by her elegant attire and haughty demeanor, they concluded that she was likely a senior member of the Russell family.
Therefore, the employees were very respectful.
However, Isabella's status was special. She was George's wife, and they didn't dare to provoke her. So, they all pretended to be buried in their work.
"I'll ask again; where is Isabella's desk?" Scarlett asked coldly, her tone brooking no argument.
One employee hesitated before answering softly, "Her desk is over there, but she's not here right now."
"Not here? Perfect. Let's all pitch in and move her desk and chair out. Let her work on the floor!" Scarlett's voice was harsh and unyielding.
The employees exchanged uneasy glances.
"But isn't that a bit inappropriate?" one employee cautiously suggested, trying to reason with Scarlett.
"None of your business!" Scarlett's voice rose, her eyes flashing with anger. "Do you know who I am? I'm George's mother! One of the shareholders of the Russell Group! How dare you hinder me?"
Under Scarlett's pressure, the employees finally began moving Isabella's desk and chair. Though they were unhappy, they knew they had no choice but to comply with such a formidable figure.
At that moment, Cruz, an employee known for his sycophantic behavior, stepped forward to curry favor with Scarlett. "Mrs. Scarlett Russell is absolutely right! Isabella's behavior has been outrageous. She doesn't deserve such office conditions."
Scarlett was pleased with Cruz's flattery. She turned to him with a slight smile. "You're right. What's your name? It seems I should promote you."
"My name is Cruz!"
Cruz was overjoyed, knowing that his eagerness to please Scarlett would earn him more opportunities. He calculated that with Scarlett's support, his position might advance further.
"Thank you for your trust and support, Mrs. Scarlett Russell. I'll work even harder!" Cruz said obsequiously, a smug smile on his face.
The employees carefully moved Isabella's desk and chair to a corner of the office. Though they were mindful of Isabella's status, handling her belongings with care, Scarlett was not satisfied. She walked over and deliberately kicked Isabella's things, scattering them. Documents and stationery were crushed under her feet.
"That woman doesn't know her place, daring to challenge me!" Scarlett sneered. "I'll make sure she knows whether George values her or me more! Trying to surpass me? No way!"
She kicked Isabella's belongings around, indifferent to the shocked looks from the surrounding employees. She knew she held absolute power in the company, and no one dared to question her actions.
After finishing, Scarlett casually found the most comfortable chair and sat down, waiting for Isabella's return. Her heart was filled with satisfaction, anticipating the scene of Isabella's humiliation.
"When she comes back and sees this, she'll be furious," Scarlett thought, a cold smile playing on her lips as she awaited the drama to unfold.
