Chapter 1004 I’ll Let You Eat Me When I’m Almost Dead
"Madam, just tell me." Hayley, unafraid of death, patted her chest. "Even if my life will be at risk, I will help you."
"Go to Snow Mountain in the next city and look for a man named Hansen Miles. Give this to him, and he will know what to do. You must find him, but the premise is that he must come out alive," Waverly handed the jewelry box to Hayley.
"Alright, I promise to complete the task."
Waverly's smile widened.
Snow Mountain was one of the largest mountains in M Country, and Hansen Miles was just a man she had made up.
Hayley really was naïve.
"I'll transfer some money to you. If it's not enough, you can ask me for more. You must pay attention to your surroundings and ensure your own safety. If Bellamy asks, just tell him the truth. It's alright," Waverly explained.
"Then, the dog will be in Madam's care," Hayley was somewhat worried about the dog. After all, Waverly had to go to work. Moreover, if Waverly was caught by Joseph, the dog wouldn't have food to eat.
"You'll be lonely while you are away at Snow Mountain helping me find my old friend. Not only that, I'm also not good at taking care of dogs so you should bring it with you. If you still can't find him after a year, come back," Waverly said softly.
"How will it take a year? I won't take that long," Hayley said firmly.
"Apart from Bellamy, nobody else can know about Hansen as he is very important to me," Waverly reminded.
"Yes, Madam. I'll go pack my luggage and leave right now. You can transfer the money to my bank account," Hayley said as she went to her room to pack her luggage.
Waverly transferred one hundred thousand dollars to her. After some time, she would transfer more money to her.
After Hayley packed up her luggage, Waverly let her leave.
Just as she was about to make a call, she saw a lot of cars coming from afar.
If her guess was correct, those cars contained Joseph's subordinates.
It seemed that she no longer had the time to meet with the pharmaceutical dealers.
She put her phone away as the cars drove to her front door.
Joshua got out of the car and looked at Waverly with no expression on his face, "Madam, please."
"How will Joseph deal with me this time?" Waverly asked.
"You'll know in a while," Joshua answered coldly.
Waverly sneered and got into Joshua's car.
Joshua's subordinates put a blindfold on her.
Along the way, Waverly remained calm, so calm that even her breaths were faint and ethereal.
Two hours later, she heard someone open the iron door, a creaking sound ringing.
The door was opened. Joshua grabbed Waverly's arm and dragged her along.
She heard the sound of friction between iron and smelled a scent so pungent that was similar to animal feces mixed with blood.
She had no idea where she was pushed into, but Joshua let go of her.
She pulled the blindfold off and saw Joshua lock the door of the cage. The cage was hung in mid air, slowly descending.
When the cage arrived at the bottom, she saw wolves watching her intently from all directions.
The wolves were imprisoned in bigger cages but she was in the center of all of them.
Joseph had his arm wrapped around Yasmine as they stood outside of Waverly's cage.
Yasmine was ecstatic as she glared at Waverly gloatingly with a trace of provocation and disdain in her gaze.
The reason why Joseph had caught her was to help Yasmine vent her anger.
The corners of Waverly's mouth twitched ever so slightly as she sat down in her cage.
As long as she sat in the middle of the cage, the wolves would not be able to harm her no matter how fierce they were.
She only needed to hold on for two days. By then, the wolves would know that they would not be able to eat her even if she laid her back onto the bars of the cage.
They wanted to trick her with such a cheap gimmick. They really had underestimated her tolerance.
She did not want them to see her slightest hint of fear.
She might as well close her eyes and stay away from the disputes and disorder outside.
"Joseph, look at her. She is not afraid at all," Yasmine complained.
Joseph narrowed his eyes and looked at the caged Waverly, who was sitting quietly in the center of it. He insisted, "Then, I'll let her stay here for the whole night."
"Or you could take her cage away," Yasmine said at the slip of the tongue.
Joseph frowned and shifted his gaze over at Yasmine. The stare from his eyes was too sharp, like lasers.
Yasmine shivered and smiled forcefully, "That's too cruel. I was just kidding."
He glanced at Waverly, who was locked in the cage, and said, "With her locked up, you can entertain the President of A Country well after this. She won't get the chance to meet with him."
Yasmine snickered, "So, it turns out that you are doing what you promised me in the morning. Joseph, you are too nice. However, something feels strange. Before I came, I received a notice from the superior that Waverly herself didn't want to participate in this business reception. Do you know why Ronaldo wanted Waverly to participate but then changed his mind later on? Was it the President of A Country's idea?"
Joseph was stunned. He looked at Yasmine and said, "Ronaldo has canceled Waverly's rights to attend this business reception?"
"Yes, I don't know what they are up to," Yasmine saw that the wolves were going to surround Waverly. She patted Joseph's arm excitedly, "Do those wolves want to eat her?"
With a bang, a wolf knocked down the cage.
The cage fell to the ground.
Joseph frowned and clenched his fists. He pursed his lips and a murderous intent was blazing out of his eyes.
Waverly fell to the ground and was in great pain. She opened her eyes and saw that the head of the wolf pack had jumped onto the cage.
It stared at Waverly with it's sharp and malicious eyes, full of anger and hatred.
However, its gaze was incomparable to Joseph's glare.
Thus, Waverly was not afraid at all. She quietly watched as it bared its fangs in front of her.
Now that the iron cage was on the ground, it was even better for her. It was also quite safe for her to lie down.
"You really are stupid," Waverly said with a smile. "Even if you push me, you won't be able to catch me."
Joseph gritted his teeth and left with a gloomy face.
Yasmine glanced at Waverly, then at Joseph before turning to catch up with him. "We're not going to look at her anymore?" she asked Joseph in a disappointing tone.
"A bunch of idiots!" Joseph said angrily as he increased his pace.
Yasmine smirked happily as she followed him.
As soon as they left, the surroundings became quiet and silent. She could clearly hear the wolves' breathing.
"No matter how powerful you are, you are still locked in a cage, living from the food thrown by others. Slowly but surely you will lose your natural instincts and be domesticated. In the end, you'll be nothing but a pitiful dog who wags its tail to appease others for food. Do you understand?" Waverly said to the leader of the wolf pack.
The leader tried several times, but it was still not enough to get to Waverly at all. So, it gave up and started to ignore Waverly.
The other little wolves were still thinking of ways by biting the iron bars, stretching forwards to scratch Waverly, and salivating while baring their teeth.
Waverly looked around and smiled.
When she was a child, she went to the zoo and liked the caged monkeys a lot. Although it was prohibited to feed them, she couldn't suppress her love for them and always tried to secretly bring food to feed them.
Look how the tables have turned. She was the one currently in the cage, and those outside the cage were the wolves.
The wolves could not eat her, even if she starved to death in the cage.
That was fine by her.
"When I am about to starve to death, I will lean to the side of the cage so you can eat me," Waverly promised the wolves.
