Chapter 878 Emerald
Stella returned to Country M after giving her testimony. She started feeling unwell on the plane. Her water broke upon arriving at the airport, and she was sent directly to the hospital.
In the car, Jasper was extremely nervous. He was not by her side when Stella gave birth to their first child. Similarly, he was not there when Stella gave birth to their second child.
Therefore, he swore to stay by her side no matter what would happen this time.
Stella did not want him to worry, so she endured the pain silently. Smiling, she said, "Jasper, sing a song for me. It's rare to hear you singing, but I don't want to listen to military songs because I don't want our daughter to be boyish in the future."
"The brightest star in the night sky, could you hear it clearly..." Jasper started singing.
Stella burst into laughter because Jasper had gone completely off-key. "Oh gosh, stop, my stomach hurts!"
Jasper stopped singing and held her hand tightly. His heart ached so much that he wanted to give birth to their child on her behalf. "Hold on a little longer. We'll arrive at the hospital soon."
"Don't come into the delivery room later," Stella instructed him.
"Why not?" Jasper asked, puzzled.
"Just don't," Stella said firmly and changed the subject. "I like the song you sang. Could you sing the part that you are familiar with?"
Jasper became increasingly worried about her. Stella had always liked to endure the pain silently, with her lips pursed.
"Do you not want to sing?" Stella asked, clutching her belly in pain.
Jasper sang, "I would rather keep all the pain in my heart than forget your eyes, give me the courage to believe again, and I would cross the lies to hug you. Whenever I couldn't find the purpose of living, and whenever I get lost in the dark night, the brightest star in the night sky, please guide me with the light on the road ahead of me."
Jasper was choking with sobs when he sang the last sentence.
He had always wanted to have a daughter, but he did not expect that Stella would have to suffer so much as a result.
She had been smiling and enduring the pain, but her forehead, nose, and hands were all covered with tiny beads of sweat. Her hands were icy cold as well.
"Whether it's a son or daughter this time, I won't let you get pregnant again. I'm sorry, this is my fault," said Jasper, with tears in his eyes.
He took Stella's hand and kissed the back of her hand.
Stella was still smiling. A woman would be happy to carry and give birth to the child of the man she loved. However, she would also become unfortunate because she was not loved.
She was willing to carry and give birth to his child. She had unlimited hopes and expectations for the future.
Hadn't it been the excruciating pain welling in her stomach, she would kiss him at that very moment.
When they arrived at the hospital, Jasper did not enter the operating room as per Stella's instructions. He stood outside and waited anxiously.
Stella exhausted all her energy to give birth to their child in the operating theater.
As she grew older, she was different from those younger women in their twenties. The stiffness of her muscles made the labor even more difficult. In addition, she ate a little too much this time and the baby was too big.
As for why she did not want to let Jasper come in and see her deliver the child, it was simply because of a male patient of hers.
This patient loved his wife very much, and he went into the delivery room when his wife gave birth. However, he developed psychological trauma after witnessing the process of childbirth.
Whenever he had sex with his wife, he would involuntarily think of the process of childbirth. This caused him to lose passion for his wife.
They were already on the verge of divorce when she met this patient of hers.
The wife could not understand her husband's indifference toward her. She was full of complaints, grievances, sadness, and self-abasement. Her whole life was darkness.
The husband, on the other hand, wanted to be cured of his illness too.
In the end, his wife had divorced him before she could cure him, and he decided to give up the treatment.
One day, she encountered him again on the street. He had remarried, and his wife was pregnant again. However, their past was nonetheless unfortunate.
So many love stories were buried in the graves of marriage. It was not that marriage was the grave of love, but there were just too many traps in place when two people tried to get along with each other. If one couldn't find it in themselves to change for the better, then it would be best to let nature take its course.
After all, the person's mindset had always been the most important factor.
An hour later, Stella gave birth to a little princess.
The baby girl let out an extremely loud cry.
Stella was glad when she saw that it was a girl. Jasper had always wanted to have a daughter.
She was pushed out of the delivery room shortly after.
Jasper ran up to Stella excitedly and gave her a kiss on the forehead. He did not say anything for quite a long time.
Stella was so exhausted that she nodded off once she saw Jasper.
......
Eli was leaning against Sean, who was slumped on the sofa, watching TV. They were just quietly enjoying the rare moments of being together, temporarily forgetting all their troubles.
Eli's cell phone rang. She sat up to answer it when she noticed that it was Jasper.
"Why are you calling me? Where's Stella?" Eli asked worriedly.
"Don't worry, Stella is doing fine. We are in Southern Hospital Room 606 now. She just gave birth to our daughter."
"Really? That's amazing," Eli said happily and stood up. "Stella told me that she wanted to have a daughter with you. Her wish has finally come true. Would it be convenient for me to come over and visit her?"
"It's better for you to come tomorrow morning. She's exhausted today," replied Jasper.
"Okay, okay, I'll visit her tomorrow morning. That's great news. Congratulations," Eli said and hung up the phone. She was still in a good mood and she was thinking of all kinds of presents to give Stella.
On the other hand, Sean was feeling a bit blue.
He had always wanted a girl, so he was truly envious of Jasper.
"Stella and I had a deal in the past. If she has a son and I have a daughter, we would let both of them get married. Stella has a daughter now, but our son is too old for her."
"We could still have a daughter now. Stella still has a younger son, right?" Sean said and held Eli's waist, pulling her into his embrace.
"But her son is already 7 years old now. Even if I get pregnant now, there is still at least an 8-year gap between them," Eli said, feeling a little disappointed.
"You need to look further. Who knows, our daughter might fall in love with a better man?"
"I don't care whether the guy is good or not. The most important thing is whether she likes him or not. Help me think of a present to give to Stella tomorrow. I would like to give her something special, something that resembles good blessings. It must be practical as well," said Eli as she pondered.
"D country is famous for mystical stones. They say they are from fallen meteorites. Research scientists have shown that the stone contains a lot of minerals that stabilize the electromagnetic field in the body, accelerates blood circulation, prevent blockage, and helps to reduce high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, and high blood sugar," said Sean.
"It sounds as if it's meant for the elderly. Will you be able to get one for me? I would like to give it to Stella's mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law treats me quite well," said Eli.
Sean nodded and replied, "No problem. Then you can give Stella's daughter an emerald and a lock charm. The emerald could be embedded inside the lock charm so that she could wear it all the time. There's a good meaning behind the lock charm as well."
"Okay, that sounds like a good idea. But I'm going to visit Stella tomorrow morning. Would there be enough time to buy it?"
