Chapter 1038 You… Hahaha...
Waverly instantly understood. Madam Lenny was indeed intelligent.
When she was told that she was assigned an assistant, this assistant referred to Yasmine. The role of an assistant was hard to refuse.
In fact, it was impossible for Yasmine to be her assistant.
Everyone knew that she was the deputy minister of the Ministry of External Affairs. Waverly was the assistant.
If Yasmine was to go with her, she would become the second-in-command, whereas Yasmine would be the one to call the shots.
Frankly speaking, Yasmine would be the one doing the deeds. Under the operation of Madam Lenny, her merits would be completely wiped out.
No wonder Madam Lenny said that she was worried, because it turned out that she had already intervened quietly. Moreover, with just a little intervention, she was able to turn the tide. She paved the way for Yasmine, who was originally a good-for-nothing. Succeeding in the negotiation would make her the hero who saved M Country.
Moreover, with this coming under Madam Lenny and with her relations, the title of Peace Lady, that was supposed to be given to her, may be granted to Yasmine in the end instead.
Waverly carefully read the documents. There was no appointment letter. The information in her hand was just an ordinary document. It could not prove her identity, nor did it show any form of delegation of responsibilities for her.
Madame Lenny was truly formidable.
"Madam, what should we do now?" Hayley asked Waverly.
"Let her go," Waverly instructed.
Hayley could only let Judie go.
"Did they do this on purpose? If you didn't ask, we wouldn't have known that there were two pieces of documents left. Without these two, the formalities would not be complete and problems will definitely arise," Hayley asked.
Waverly's eyes lowered as she began to ponder deeply.
Hayley was right. If she had not asked, Yasmine would definitely retaliate when they arrived at the airport at night. She would say that she had lost important documents and labelled Waverly incompetent and unreliable in performing her tasks.
"As long as we are careful and cautious, no one can take advantage of us," Waverly said.
"Now, where will we go to board the plane? The airport?" Hayley asked.
Waverly smiled, "If we don't board the plane, what do you think will happen?"
"If we are not present, then we will fall right into their trap. This is our responsibility. It has nothing to do with them. They will only leave without us if we choose to not go," she said.
"If they do go, it's really just for the negotiation. In the end, they can only come back dejected." Waverly called up Judie. She pressed on the recording key and asked, "The plane will take off at eight tonight. Do I leave for the airport or somewhere else? Who shall we contact by then? Or is anyone going to contact me instead?"
"Well, you just have to go to the airport. When you arrive, someone will naturally contact you," Judie said.
The corners of Waverly's mouth curled up, "Thank you. So, I just need to head for the international airport, am I right?"
"Yes, that's it," Judie firmly said.
Waverly hung up.
"What did she say?" Hayley asked.
"Let's go to the airport."
"D*mn, they really do want to leave us behind." Hayley was somewhat disturbed.
"Persisting in evil brings about self destruction. Let's have our meals first, then we'll head for the airport," Waverly said calmly.
She reckoned that she wouldn't be able to leave that day, so she sent a message to Bellamy, "The plan has changed. I probably won't be able to come back for the time being. Once I get on the plane, I'll send you a message."
"Did something happen?" He worriedly sent a reply.
"Madam Lenny asked Yasmine to come with me."
Bellamy instantly understood, "I know what to do. We'll talk about it when you arrive."
Reading his text message, Waverly felt comforted.
The two of them had been together for five years. There had long been some things that had reached a mutual understanding. He had pretty much understood the situation, even though much wasn't said.
He was a person whom she was able to consciously sympathize and resonate with.
Waverly and Hayley had dinner before taking a taxi to the airport.
Hayley pursed her lips as she petted the dog's head. She glanced at Waverly.
Waverly looked out of the window with no expression on her calm face.
Hayley lightly pulled on her clothes.
Waverly looked over to her and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Madam, if we return, will we not come back to M Country anymore in the future?" Hayley asked hopefully.
Waverly did not reply to her.
In this moment, she was reminded of what Joseph once said, which made quite a lot of sense.
"As long as you are strong enough, there's no need to mind the rumours and slanders. Just do whatever you want!"
Although her progress was slow, it's already good enough as long as there was improvement.
"Do you want to stay in A Country?" Waverly retorted.
"Yes! I miss my friends. When I go back this time, they will definitely be envious of me," Hayley replied happily.
"When we arrive at the airport, you can buy more souvenirs and some local specialties. Once we arrive in A Country, we can find some time for you to meet your friends."
"Madam, you really are the best. You are the greatest person that I have ever met, even greater than the President," Hayley commended.
Waverly smiled slightly, "This is just a simple deed. You are really easy to satisfy."
"Of course not. Madam, you really are the best," Hayley said resolutely.
Good or bad, both were relatively different. In some people's eyes, she was a good person, but in others', she was the opposite.
Waverly glanced at the time; it said seven o'clock.
"Sir, when will we arrive at the airport? I have to catch a flight at eight o'clock," Waverly asked.
"Within twenty minutes, we will definitely be there," the driver replied.
20 minutes later, Waverly and Hayley arrived at the airport.
After waiting for about ten minutes at the gate. Waverly went over to the service desk and asked the stewardess, "Can I know where the gate is for the eight o'clock flight to A Country?"
"We don't have an eight o'clock flight to A Country. Are you Waverly Martell?" The flight attendant asked politely.
"Yes, they asked me to wait at the airport. That should be right. They said that someone will contact me. It is now seven forty in the evening and no one has contacted me yet," Waverly said.
"Let me give it a check." The stewardess typed on the computer, "There were six flights going to A Country today. The 1st one was 8:45 in the morning, the 2nd one was 10:20 in the morning, the 3rd one was 12:40 in the afternoon, one at 1:54 in the afternoon, next was 3:20 in the afternoon and the last one was 6:45 in the evening. Was there a miscommunication?"
"Thank you. Let me make a call," Waverly said. She then called Yasmine and pressed on the recording key.
"Hello, this is Waverly. I'm at the airport now. I was notified that someone will call me, but no one has called me yet," she said.
"Airport? We are not going to take a plane at the airport. We are at the Ministry of External Affairs' private airport. Didn't you know about this?" Yasmine asked sternly.
"No one told me that there was a private airport in the Ministry of External Affairs. Judie told me to wait at the airport. I asked for sure whether it was an international airport or not and she said yes."
"Don't blame others if you can't find the correct place. Why don't you use your brain? I can't believe you don't know where you were supposed to go."
"Why don't you send me the address? I'll head over now," Waverly replied.
"What a troublemaker. You can't even do such a simple thing. I don't even know how you became the wife of the President. No wonder you were divorced. Hurry up. We can't just wait for you," Yasmine said angrily and hung up.
