Chapter 1095 There's No Use In Getting Angry With Me

Waverly sighed.
She knew that Joseph could do anything.
She wanted to get rid of him. If she had enough power to resist him, then he wouldn't be acting so arrogantly in front of her.
All she could do was to endure, remain dormant, and settle down.
"There is one more candidate left, and she will come in an hour. One has already caught my eye, and I don't know about the other one. If I don't like her, then I'll have to wait longer. I want to be able to trust them if I were to hire them. I don't want to have someone whom I can't trust or vice versa to avoid more troubles in the future," Waverly said.
"Well, did you like Boris?" Joseph asked.
"He's not bad."
"Indeed, he is. Any country would have spent tens of billions of dollars for the biological weapon in his hands. He didn't even ask for a penny, but instead gave it to Stella. That man's conscience is as clear as yours. Given that he has lived such a miserable life, it's expected that he still maintains his rationality."
Waverly stayed silent.
The more she listened to Joseph, the more she wanted to hang up on the call. She kept on telling herself to resist the urge to do so.
Unable to restrain himself any longer, he let out a chuckle.
"Not only do you have a strange mind, but even your behavior is strange. There is nothing about you that isn't strange," Waverly was so angry that she laughed. She continued, "Your whole family is strange, especially your mother."
Joseph frowned and asked, "Are you scolding her now?"
"Then, were you scolding me just now?"
"Scolding you?" Joseph didn't evade the question at all. He became serious as he replied, "For people to achieve great things, they must first use people. Your Uncle Thomson has lived under the sun justly and honorably, but if it weren't for my intervention behind the scenes, he would've died many times by now. Other people wouldn't be so kind towards him. You can't use people according to your preferences. Instead, you should use a person according to who you're dealing with!"
Waverly paused. She had been angry at first, but when she heard the latter part of his sentence, her anger dissipated again.
She wasn't someone who didn't listen to other people's opinions.
Joseph was right. When dealing with someone, or using them, one shouldn't follow their own preferences. Righteous people couldn't be used in certain villainous plans and strategies as they wouldn't be able to bring themselves to do it.
"Why aren't you talking again?" said an irritated Joseph.
"There was a sinister candidate who was ambitious, and also had a strong purpose. However, I've already scared her off. There's the last one left. What will she be like?" Waverly said.
"It doesn't matter. Even if you could find a hundred people, you still can't compete with me. Whoever you use is not the most important thing. Instead, the most important thing is for you to be decisive and to know what you should do," Joseph induced.
Waverly was reminded of slavery yet again.
Joseph was too strong, so strong that he could easily make people bow down to him without having the courage to struggle.
She was reluctant to become a person like that.
"When you were a child, you couldn't even beat me in exams," Waverly said.
"That's because your memory is better than mine, but your psyche is lacking. That's why you and I will always be worlds apart in terms of intelligence
Once again, Waverly wanted to hang up on him. She retorted, "Your inflated ego is even more shocking than your wisdom."
"What about it?"
"Those who get destroyed first are always the arrogant ones. Remember the story about a certain warrior who was also really confident. Do you think he was destroyed by his lover, or by his own self-confidence?" Waverly asked.
"You really make me lose my temper all the time."
"Likewise," Waverly said, directly hanging up on the call.
At some point, Welch had come in with another subordinate. It looked like the two of them were whispering about something among each other.
Noticing that Waverly was looking at him, Welch smiled as he asked, "What do you think of Alice?"
"I don't need to say what I think. She rejected me," Waverly said, picking up a grape and putting it into her mouth. She added, "These grapes are quite sweet. Where did you buy them?"
"They were planted by my friend. If you like it, I'll get someone to send you a few pounds of it. He makes wine too. The wine made from these grapes is incredibly sweet and fragrant, without its usual sourness," Welch said.
"Then, I'll have to trouble you then. Thank you," Waverly did not refuse his offer.
"I happen to have some wine here. Please wait for a moment," Welch said as he went to pour some wine.
He poured half a cup, handing it to Waverly.
Waverly swirled the wine in the glass, then took a sip. It really was delicious.
"You hired Boris, didn't you? If you want to hire him, you need to sign a contract. After you give me the money, I will hand it over to Boris. After that, I will give him your number. Everything takes effect once the contract is signed. The contract is incredibly detailed, so do you want to have a look at it now?" Welch said.
"Alright, sure," Waverly answered, putting down the wine glass.
Welch's subordinate handed over a contract.
Welch took it, and gave it to Waverly.
Waverly looked at the contract carefully. The contract was quite detailed and had a lot of clauses. Welch had been doing this line of business for many years, and he had been quite thorough the entire process. However, some of the conditions were too harsh on those assassins.
"If you are satisfied, perhaps we could sign Boris' contract first?" Welch asked tentatively.
Waverly nodded and said, "Yes, he hasn't left yet, has he?"
"No, he hasn't. I'll ask him to come over. When will you pay the money?" Welch asked.
Waverly lowered her eyes. Originally, she had wanted to sell the Thunder Gun. Later onwards, Bellamy had given her 50 million dollars, and she had wanted to use that money to hire the assassins.
However, Joseph had come and said that he would pay for her.
Taking someone else's money was really annoying.
She couldn't take the initiative to ask for money so she said, "I have 6 million dollars in my card, but because my account got restricted, can I transfer it to you after I return home? When the time comes, you can ask Boris to come and find me."
"Ah, 6 million dollars? So, you may not be able to afford the next one?" Welch said with a smile to avoid Waverly from feeling awkward.
"I still can afford two people for ten million dollars," Waverly said firmly.
"Do you want to ask your boyfriend first?" Welch reminded her.
"There's no need for that."
"Well, I think it's better for you to do so."
Waverly was a little angry as she said, "Are you afraid that I can't afford this? You can give me the assassins once you receive the money. I don't think there will be any other concerns."
"That's not what I meant. Don't misunderstand me. The main thing is, Duff was the one who introduced him. I have to explain this to him," Welch said with a laugh.
She didn't think that Duff being the one who introduced him was a good excuse, but she was reluctant to expose his intentions either. So, she said, "Do you mind if I hang around in the manor?"
"Of course. I'll call you over when I come back," Welch said.
As soon as Waverly went out, Welch called Vanze and asked, "Where are they now?"
"They are heading to Mahaba Hotel. I think I've been discovered. Mr. Mccarthy isn't an ordinary person," Vanze reported.
"Of course he isn't. I know who he is. He's from a family who produces weapons in M Country. Although he isn't a successor, his power and strength cannot be underestimated. Since you've been discovered, you can go to him. I want to talk to him, so give him your phone when you see him," Welch said.
