Chapter 1123 She Chose To Do The Right Thing
"Madam, do you have something on your mind? Is there anything I can do for you?" Boris asked.
Waverly paused.
It was a matter of great importance. If she really decided to go with Bellamy, she couldn't reveal even a sliver of information, or she would not succeed. If she failed, what awaited her would be a life worse than hell.
She couldn't tell anyone about the matter.
"I'm thinking about how to negotiate with Thomas tomorrow," Waverly said instead.
"Don't worry, Madam. My people have already contacted Thomas. Who knows, perhaps they might be able to make an appointment by tonight. I've even prepared the recording," Agnes said.
"You can tell your people to stop. I already have proof of Thomas' affair on my hands," Waverly said.
"Ah? You already have it?" Agnes said in surprise.
"Someone gave it to me, but I have to think things over again," Waverly said.
"Okay, I will call my friend now," Agnes picked up the phone and dialed the number immediately.
"Take your time, you two. I am going out for a walk," Waverly told them.
Boris stood up, "Madam, I'll accompany you."
Waverly shook her head, "I have no enemies here and I am not an important figure. There is no danger. All the dangerous things are in M Country. You can rest assured."
Seeing that Waverly had made her decision, Boris nodded and said, "Call me immediately if you need any help."
"I got it. I will be back soon," Waverly said and went out.
She walked along the bank of the river.
The bank was decorated with lights of various colors. There were also beautiful ships along the river, which were extraordinarily gorgeous at night.
After walking for more than ten minutes, she was tired.
She sat down on a bench by the river and looked at the river.
Bellamy had said that their future could be beautiful. She only needed to wait for one or two years. Once he gave his position over to Jasper, they would start a brand new life in the future, one that she had been looking forward to.
If she returned to M Country, there would be a lot of troublesome matters, difficulties, hardships and uncomfortable incidents.
Most people lived their lives enjoying pleasure and fleeing from pain.
In the face of pain, she also wanted to flee. However, most of the time, she would be forced to face it.
Her cell phone rang. Waverly saw that it was a call from Boris. She answered, "What's wrong?"
"Both of us have finished our dinner. Where are you? We'll come and find you," Boris said.
"Go out and turn right. You'll see me sitting on a bench beside the river bank," Waverly finished speaking and hung up on the call.
Someone greeted Waverly, "Hello."
Waverly looked at the foreigner, who had a rather familiar face, standing in front of her and asked, "Who are you?"
"I'm the boatman. You were on my boat before. You and that man even fell into the water."
Waverly remembered who he was, "Don't you have to go to work today?"
With an upset expression, the boatman said, "I have the day off. Do you remember that day you gave the necklace to me?"
"Yes, you deserved to get it."
"Perhaps it was because the necklace wasn't supposed to be mine, but it was stolen when I returned home that day."
Waverly was rendered speechless.
She had an intuition that the person who had stolen the man's necklace might be Joseph.
For a moment, she had no idea how to comfort this man.
The boatman continued, "Where's the man who was with you? He seemed to care about you very much."
"He doesn't care about me. It's hard to say what's going on between him and I."
The boatman sat down beside Waverly, "I think you two are quite compatible with each other."
Waverly smiled faintly and looked at the time on the phone, "Sorry, I have to go."
The boatman suddenly said, "Can you lend me a hundred thousand dollars? My child is sick and needs money to see a doctor."
His request was too out of the blue, causing Waverly to be stunned for a moment, "Is she in the hospital now?"
With an awkward expression, the boatman said, "Yes, the hospital is right in front of us. She has a congenital heart disease. I know my request is very abrupt. I'm sorry about that."
Waverly thought for a moment, "When my friend comes over later, she will accompany you to see your child. Once she has confirmed that the situation you said is true, she will give you a certain amount of money. You don't have to pay me back, but if you lie, you might lose something that is worth the same amount."
The man was shocked for a moment, "What will I lose?"
The corners of Waverly's mouth raised up, "You have revealed your flaw. You are lying."
The boatman corrected her, "I didn't lie. My daughter is indeed ill, but it's not serious as I said. She has a congenital heart disease and needs money for surgery."
"My subordinate will still follow you and verify your circumstances. Then, I will give you the appropriate amount," Waverly said with a poker face.
Boris and Agnes ran over and stood behind Waverly.
"Agnes, send him back. He said that his daughter has a congenital heart disease and needs to undergo surgery. You should go and find out the truth. Then, call me when you need the money," Waverly ordered.
"Yes," Agnes replied.
She left with the boatman.
Waverly said softly, "Let's go back too."
"Would you like me to have a drink with you?" Boris asked.
Waverly thought for a moment and shook her head, "Alcohol is not a good thing. It can numb people's nerves and even interfere with one's rationality. I am afraid that I will make wrong decisions when I'm drunk."
"Well, you are a reasonable person. I respect your decision. I also believe that your decision will be the right one," Boris agreed.
"In fact, I haven't decided yet," Waverly smiled bitterly.
"You already have the answer. Let me tell you a short story. A boss wanted to fire an employee, but he didn't do it on the first day. On the second day, he also didn't fire him. However, one day, the employee is sure to get fired, because the notion is already in his mind. It's just a matter of time before it happens. Since you refuse to tell me, the truth is that you have already made a decision subconsciously," Boris reminded her.
Waverly looked at Boris thoughtfully.
So, had she made her decision to leave with Bellamy?
After going back to the hotel, Waverly couldn't fall asleep at all. She stood in front of the window and looked at the scenery outside.
At the moment, there were two paths in front of her.
They led to two completely different choices.
The first path led to a life worse like hell, but if she managed to climb up from it, she could stand at the peak and no one could hurt her. She would be able to control the world. She would no longer be trampled on, no longer looked down upon and no longer bullied.
The other path was just like a shortcut to heaven. She did not need to care about anything else as she only needed to wait for Bellamy to return. However, she could not help in deciding whether he would win or lose. There were still many unpredictable events and she would only be using him to get what she wanted.
After thinking for one to two hours, Waverly made up her mind.
She wanted to give herself a chance to once again do the right thing.
She picked up her phone and called Bellamy.
The phone rang one, then twice.
Every time the phone rang, she became more nervous.
Finally, on the fifth ring, Bellamy picked up.
