Chapter 990 I'm With My Goddess
"If you swear to leave M Country and the Mccarthy family, I'll naturally let you go. If you have evil intentions, I'm sorry, but I can't promise to let you go," Joseph spoke bluntly.
Waverly's face turned pale.
Those words meant that he still wanted to pester her.
Yazoo could feel the atmosphere getting tense. So, he smiled and said, "You guys are still the same as you were when you were kids. Whenever you meet, you'd start arguing."
"We're different from back then. When I was a child, I just didn't like her," Joseph said with a smirk, something more sinister lurking in his eyes.
"It's indeed different now," Waverly pursed her lips. She really wanted to expose the truth about what he had done to her in front of everyone.
Rationally speaking, even if she told the truth, no one would believe her and neither would Yasmine.
She would only embarrass herself if she said all that.
"When I was young, I still remember that you had a little humanity. However, I now realize that you're not even human," Waverly spoke indifferently. She looked at Yazoo with gentle eyes and said, "I'm sorry, Yazoo. I've ruined the atmosphere. I won't interfere with your dinner. I'll treat you to a meal some other day."
She stood up.
"I'll walk you out," Hanold said and stood up.
If she asked him to stay, she was worried that Joseph would bully him. Thus, she nodded and said, "Okay."
"Yazoo, I'll send her off," Hanold said. He took the coat hanging on the coat rack and left with Waverly.
They got into the car.
Waverly was worried that Joseph would cause trouble for her tonight. If she was at a disadvantage by that time, she would definitely be bullied by him.
She no longer wanted to have anything to do with him.
"Hanold, is there a secret hideout that you know?" Waverly asked.
"Ah?" Hanold did not understand the meaning behind Waverly's words for a moment.
"I want to hide somewhere tonight," Waverly said.
"Oh, I have a good place for you, but it's a bit far away. Do you have work tomorrow?" Hanold asked.
"How far is it?" Waverly asked.
"It's going to take about an hour to get there. What time do you need to go to work tomorrow?" He inquired.
"Nine o'clock." She replied.
"Then, I'll set an alarm clock. I'll wake you up at seven o'clock and send you to work."
Waverly understood his good intentions, "Are there taxis over there? I can take a taxi to work."
"There doesn't seem to be. It's a secret location after all. If taxis were there, it wouldn't be confidential. I'll send you. It's okay," Hanold said. He set the coordinates into his GPS and continued to drive.
Waverly was a little worried about Hayley.
If Joseph went to the Mccarthy family and was unable to find her, he would definitely vent his anger on Hayley.
She dialed Hayley and explained, "Hayley, it's Waverly. You can't stay in the lakeside courtyard tonight, so find another place to stay the night."
"Why?" Hayley asked in confusion.
"I offended Joseph," Waverly clarified simply.
"Okay, I understand. Where are you now, though? Are you safe? I'm worried about you," Hayley asked anxiously.
"Yes, I'm fine. If he wanted to kill me, he would have done it a long time ago. He wouldn't wait until now. That's all. I'm hanging up," Waverly said. She hung up on the call before Hayley could question her any further.
"You're really not on good terms with Joseph," Hanold stated.
Waverly looked ahead and reminded him, "Don't offend him and don't provoke him. Stay far away from him when you see him. That person is cold-blooded, ruthless and cruel."
"Then, what about you? You see each other all the time," Hanold looked at Waverly worriedly.
"With Uncle Thomson's help, he dares not do anything to me for the time being. Don't bring him up anymore. I will take a short nap. Wake me when we arrive," Waverly replied.
"Alright," Hanold murmured.
Waverly closed her eyes. She had drunk some wine, so her head felt heavy. She fell asleep after a while.
After some time, her cell phone rang.
She saw that it was Yazoo calling, so she answered it.
"Are you alright?" Yazoo asked with concern.
"I'm alright. I'm sorry for spoiling the atmosphere today," Waverly apologized.
Yazoo guessed, "It wasn't you who spoiled the atmosphere. It was Joseph. That guy has had a bad temper since childhood and a tough personality. Now, he's gotten even more reckless. I understand why you're so anxious to have a blind date now. You live under the same roof as him. If I were you, I would be depressed. Since he told me the secret, he probably doesn't want me to marry you, right?"
Waverly remained quiet.
She didn't just want to leave the Mccarthy family by using the excuse of being in another relationship. Her actual reason was too complicated and she didn't want Yazoo to be involved.
"Yazoo, I'm going to hang up first. I'm a little sleepy, so you should rest early too. I'll treat you to dinner some other day," Waverly said softly.
"Which day will it be? You won't let me wait for long, will you?" Yazoo joked.
Waverly laughed.
She was just talking casually as she had never really thought of treating him to a meal.
Since he had asked her that question, she was too embarrassed to be perfunctory.
"I have something to do this week. Next week then. I'll treat you next week."
"Okay, you take a rest first. I'm looking forward to seeing you again," Yazoo said happily.
Waverly hung up on the call and looked out of the window. Under the street lamps, she could vaguely see the sea not too far away.
"You brought me to the seaside?" Waverly was surprised.
"Well, I have a villa here. The environment is quite good and it's not easy to find it," Hanold explained.
Waverly nodded, "Thank you."
He smiled brightly and answered, "You're welcome. It's my honor to be able to invite you to my house."
After a while, they arrived at Hanold's villa. There was no one there. The place was clean and tidy.
"I've called for an hourly worker to clean the rooms three times a week. Which room do you want to sleep in?" Hanold asked in a simple and honest tone.
"Is there a room on the first floor?" Waverly asked.
"Yes, you can live there. The quilts have been cleaned and placed in the closet. You can take them out when you need them. By the way, I'll switch on the air-conditioner first," Hanold said as he turned on the air-conditioner.
Waverly pushed open the door of the room at the far end of the corridor.
The facilities in the room were incredibly simple. There was a bed, a balcony, a TV, a cabinet, a round table and two sofas.
There was a knock on the door.
Waverly looked at Hanold.
"I've already turned on the hot water. You can take a bath. There's nothing to eat in the fridge. Hence, I'm going out to buy something. I'll put the key on the coffee table outside. If you're going to the beach, remember to bring the key with you. However, it's a little cold at night and you can't see the sea clearly," Hanold reminded.
"Well, okay," she responded.
"Can I take a picture with you now? I'm afraid that I'll be so busy tomorrow that I'll forget," Hanold smiled sincerely.
Waverly smiled and nodded.
Hanold turned on the camera. His face was close to Waverly's as he took several photos and made various facial expressions, even making a heart sign.
"By the way, don't share the photos and don't post them on your social media," Waverly reminded him.
"Why?" Hanold was puzzled as he just wanted to post it in his friend circle to show off.
"It will bring you a lot of unnecessary trouble." Waverly explained.
Hanold smiled because he was not afraid of trouble. While Waverly was not paying attention, he posted the photo. He also captioned, "I'm with my Goddess."
