Chapter 1023 You Are The Cutest When You Lie

"I will only say it once," Waverly looked away.
Joseph furrowed his eyebrows and gazed at her deeply. His eyes lit up, "You're cuter when you lie."
Waverly stopped breathing and clenched her fists.
Even she felt that her lie was incredibly false.
Yadriel had claimed that Joseph loved her, but how could that be possible?
She was neither good at lying, nor was she good at dating other people. She had no idea how to attract men and no one had taught her how to do so before. She had not been in contact with many men either.
Joseph could read her mind at a glance. She didn't know how to respond either, so she just kept quiet.
Joseph moved her head to face him and locked eyes with her, "Why aren't you refuting me? Aren't you always sharp-tongued?"
"If you believe me, you will believe even if I don't say anything. However, if you don't believe me, you won't believe me no matter how remarkable I explain. It's a waste of words to refute," Waverly looked at him and uttered.
Joseph approached her slowly.
She thought that he would bite her. Before she was touched, a flash of pain flashed through her mind.
The spot where he had bitten before might have ruptured as she could feel the pain now.
However, he did not. His lips touched hers gently as he closed his eyes and kissed her slowly.
Waverly frowned and looked at him defensively. She was not repulsed by his actions, but she did not respond either.
They were so close that her eyes crossed.
Joseph's tongue slipped into her mouth. The sensation was too fiery, so Waverly pushed him back.
Joseph opened his eyes. With a sharp glare, he snapped, "Didn't you say you love me? Why can't you stand my kiss?"
"I didn't brush my teeth," Waverly murmured.
"I don't mind," he threw himself on her and pressed her against the quilt.
Waverly shoved his chest and wanted to ask if he would let Bellamy live. However, she realized that he harbored a deep hatred towards Bellamy.
If she brought up Bellamy at the moment, she would only irritate him instead.
The night was long.
Waverly was forced to accept his invasion, but her thoughts drifted far away.
If Bellamy died, she would regret her efforts, persistence and obsessions after her death.
She was more like a gambler who had lost a lot. She could no longer stop as she had lost too much, to the point where it was unbearable. There would be a chance to turn the tables only if she continued to gamble.
If she couldn't turn the tables, she could only lose more.
Everything was incredibly conflicting, messy and confusing, causing her to be in deep pain.
Now, the only thing she had to do was to keep Bellamy alive. She made up her mind and kissed Joseph.
Delighted, Joseph smiled.
Her chaste kiss could not satisfy him at all. So, he held the back of her head and deepened the kiss.
They went on for a while.
Waverly went to take a bath. Looking at the large and tiny marks on her body in the mirror, she only felt stuffy and annoyed. She had an urge to smash the mirror.
Truth be told, she wanted to destroy her body that had been violated. She washed for a long time, until her skin turned red. Only then she went out.
Joseph, who had probably bathed in another room, was sitting on the sofa.
He looked at her joyfully, "Your reactions were good just now."
Waverly lowered her eyes as she only felt shame.
"I will let Bellamy go. He is not a threat to me anyway," Joseph observed Waverly.
His eyes were sharper than an X-ray machine.
Waverly lifted her head and looked at Joseph.
Joseph smirked, but there was no smile in his eyes, only sarcasm as he said, "Aren't you relieved? Didn't you appease me just to save him?"
Waverly fixed her eyes on Joseph, "Do you know why I want to save him?"
"Do you think that I don't know what you're thinking about?" Joseph asked bitterly.
Waverly walked towards him and sat across from him, "Do you know why I left five years ago?"
Joseph gritted his teeth and his eyes grew even frostier, "You could have married me five years ago."
"Five years ago, you always went against me and we were incompatible. That's why I didn't dare to agree to your proposal. Moreover, Qianna was always against me and my mother also didn't protect me. Grandpa was alive back then, though. However, he only adored you and Qianna. If I were to stay, I would have died. It was Bellamy who had saved my life."
"I don't think it was only about saving your life," Joseph argued.
"Not only did he save my life, but he also gave me respect, care, power, identity and status. He taught me the empire's strategy, tactics and how to deal with interpersonal relationships with other people. He did not only save me but also gave me a new life. He has never touched me in that way either, and you know that better than anyone else," Waverly clarified seriously.
"Then, what did he mean by giving you flowers? Why did he invite you to accompany him, even going as far as to ask you to move to the Imperial Palace. Didn't he already know that you were mine?" Joseph snapped.
"He knew the reason why I left five years ago. He was worried that I would be bullied in the Mccarthy family, so he wanted to get me out of there," Waverly explained further.
"If he wants to get you out of here, he can do it any time. You weren't grounded. What was the point of him doing all that? You both just wanted to start over again," Joseph deemed.
"That's because I wanted to stay!" Waverly raised her voice. She clenched her teeth and stared at him as she expressed clearly, "I wanted to stay for you."
Joseph was stunned, and his eyes were filled with a mix of emotions. He frowned slightly, as if he was trying to suppress something. His eyes became dreamy, but there was also a painful glint in them as he said, "You're always so cute when you lie."
"It's fine if you don't believe me. I'm going to sleep," Waverly got up. She got onto the bed and turned her back to him.
"As long as Bellamy is safe, I'm alright," Waverly thought.
Beside her, the mattress slumped, and Waverly subconsciously tensed her back.
Joseph put his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him, "Aren't you afraid of falling down by lying so close to the side of the bed?"
Staying quiet, Waverly only felt him blowing air beside her ear.
She turned her head and looked at him.
A smile appeared on Joseph's face. He kissed her on the lips and gently said, "Be good."
Waverly really could not understand Joseph. He could be enraged in a moment yet cool off in the next, or go from gloomy and depressed to joyful in an instant.
It was true that powerful people were a tough nut to crack.
However, she also knew that it would be easier to get any man to agree to any request when he was in a good mood.
She had never attempted anything like this before. She had never requested anything from Bellamy, nor had she wanted to make things difficult for him.
She pursed her lips and pleaded, "I don't want to marry Yadriel. You said that you would marry me in the future. When the time comes, others will accuse you of stealing your friend's wife."
