Chapter 1112 Her Heart Fluttered
"You were tricked by him," Waverly said without thinking.
"Why would he lie to me? If he wanted to lie, you should be the only one he wanted to lie to. So what if he lied to you? At most, the savings in your bank of emotions would just be consumed. It's not really a big deal," Boris said.
Waverly sat up.
Although what Boris said seemed to be quite unthinkable, it sounded reasonable.
She was also in a much better mood than when she had been alone.
She no longer felt as self-deprecating, desperate and as aggrieved as before.
"Are we going back now?" Waverly asked.
"When we came here, I saw that there was no signal on the cell phone. This area must have been set up with a special jammer so that only a specific signal can be transmitted. However, there is signal now."
"So?" Waverly failed to understand what Boris meant.
"Joseph said that if I find you, I have to call him. He must have got rid of the jammer for you," Boris said.
"If it weren't for my trust in you, I would have suspected that you're one of his people," Waverly said.
Boris smiled and said, "I have been in the market for so long, but no one has ever come to purchase me because I have never accepted bribes from anyone. I only follow my own thoughts and desires. Therefore, it is impossible for me to be bribed by him. You can be rest assured."
"Well, call him. Let's go down now." Waverly turned on the flashlight of her mobile phone and said, "You should go down first."
"Okay," Boris went down and shone the road for Waverly.
Seeing that Waverly was climbing down the tree barefoot, he asked, "Where are your shoes?"
"I was wearing high heels. Walking with them on the ground would leave traces. I hid them in a bush. Then, I grabbed a handful of grass and tied them to my feet. It's soft and won't leave any traces," Waverly said. Then, she grabbed a bunch of wild grass and tied them to her feet.
"It's not far from the road here. I'll carry you there," Boris said.
"I'm not that weak. Why don't you just call him?" Waverly said as she walked ahead.
Boris called Joseph and said, "We're coming to the road in a few minutes."
Joseph hung up on the call without saying anything.
Suddenly, there was a bright light on the road, which shone through the gaps in the woods, illuminating quite a distance.
"He is quite thoughtful," Boris praised.
Waverly looked at Boris, "You are also rather thoughtful. Since we met, you've been praising him a lot."
"Is that so? It's merely a man's admiration toward another man."
"His ambition is bigger than Bellamy's," Waverly reminded him.
"Men should always have a little ambition so that they can grow stronger. It's fine as long as they dote on the woman they love," Boris said with a smile.
Waverly kicked her feet, "Would you call this 'doting'?"
"Hahaha. Perhaps he himself doesn't know what kind of feelings he has for you," Boris said after he thought for a while.
"Ha." Waverly no longer wanted to bring up Joseph anymore. She felt a little annoyed.
She walked in silence. After a while, they arrived at the road.
The moving light in front of her was too bright and rapid, dazzling her eyes. She was unable to see what was in front of her, so she stopped, turned her back and stayed still.
After a while, a car stopped beside her. The person in the car got out and opened the car door.
Waverly got into the car and saw that Joseph was inside, looking ahead with a poker face. His lips were pursed and his gaze was cold. He refused to look at her.
Boris sat in the co-driver's seat.
The car turned around and drove forward.
Waverly had no idea what to say to break the silence. Perhaps, she enjoyed the silence even more. She closed her eyes and leaned on Joseph's shoulder.
Joseph's body froze. All the nerves on his back tensed up as he looked at her.
"I'm so hungry. Is there anything to eat when we get back?" Waverly asked with her eyes closed.
"I see it's only now that you think of your hunger. Didn't you arrogantly get out of the car back then?" Joseph said teasingly.
Waverly opened her eyes, her gaze melancholy, like withered leaves on a tree falling off after a cool breeze blew by.
She sneered at him, "You said that the seat next to yours is mine, but she sat there."
Joseph looked at her, but it seemed that he couldn't understand her. His eyes flickered, "You could have asked her to stand up."
"She stood by your side and bullied me. I don't have the confidence to fight back. You two are like ants from the same colony, but I'm from another colony. I'm not the boss here, so I can't control your subordinates."
"There's only one boss here and that's me," said Joseph.
"Then, next time, I will ask her to stand up," Waverly said calmly.
He gave her a sidelong glance, staying quiet.
Waverly was looking at him as well. According to her past experience, he could stare at her for a few hours like that. She had no idea what there was to look at.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him on the lips, but it was just a light peck, "Didn't you say that you would only let me leave after three days? You came to collect me so fast, though. Did you miss me so soon?"
The look in Joseph's eyes softened when he looked at her, "You destroyed several monitors. I had to catch you so I could give them an appropriate explanation."
"When I came back just now, I saw that those cameras were emitting red lights. They must have been repaired."
"I explained things to them in advance," Joseph said.
Waverly raised her smile, one that was shallow and innocent, but quite beautiful.
She held his face in her hand.
"I recall a funny video I watched before. A man saw his girlfriend crying, so he wiped her tears with his hand. However, his hands were dirty, so when he wiped her tears, his girlfriend's face became dirtier. His expression at that time was very funny," Waverly said with a smile.
Joseph held Waverly's hands and flipped them over.
Her hands were indeed filthy, as expected.
He was not angry either as he asked, "Where did you hide?"
"I hid in a tree. I saw a flat tree branch, so I used the branches to make a small bed on it. Even if you passed by under the tree and looked up, you wouldn't find me," Waverly explained.
He had suspected that she had been on a tree, so he had deliberately looked at the trees, yet he had still failed to find her.
"Was it Boris who found you hiding on the tree or was it you who greeted him first when you saw him?" Joseph asked. He was acting weird, his face shifting into an unnatural expression.
"He was the one who asked me to hide on a tree in the first place," Waverly said vaguely.
When the car arrived at the gate of the villa, Joseph did not ask any further questions.
His men came over and opened the door on his side.
Boris came over and opened the door on Waverly's side.
Joseph walked towards the gate and saw her 'shoes' from the corner of his eyes, frowning and halting in his footsteps. Looking at her, he gritted his teeth and walked towards her side. He couldn't help but carry her up.
Waverly did not struggle and put her arms around his shoulder.
Joseph put her on the sofa and ordered, "Have a doctor come over and check her foot."
"My foot is fine. It's just a bit bruised," Waverly said. As soon as she finished speaking, Joseph squatted down in front of her.
Her heart tightened and a strange feeling appeared in her heart.
