Chapter 841 Try Her Best To Be Happy

Eli felt that Sean had gone crazy. He had lost all his conscience and sensibility.
She sneered, and her gaze sharpened. She looked directly at Sean. "I didn't want to be this petty since I've always lived my life so carelessly. But since you're so hellbent on who owes who, let's count, shall we?"
"What?" Sean frowned.
"My parents died because of you. My arm and my friends are all gone because of you. Yes, it's true that you've lost your position as President because of me. But you had the power to decide what to do. You may hate me, but what I've done to you is not even a tenth of what you've done to me. I don't see how you have any right to take revenge on me," Eli shouted.
"How could you compare all those with what I've lost?" Sean blurted out.
"Maybe I can't," Eli was very emotional. "Maybe it's because you are superior while I am just some average plain jane. Now, I have lost everything, while you are still sitting high and mighty on your throne. Isn't that right?"
"I got here with my own abilities. It doesn't erase your betrayal."
"My betrayal?" Eli shrieked. Looking at his familiar yet strange face, she pursed her lips as her chest heaved violently. Her body shook furiously.
Sean knitted his brows and his heart started beating fast.
She spoke as if she hadn't betrayed him. Her tone was determined and angry, but she stopped abruptly.
"Tell me then. Why have you gone silent?" Sean urged.
Eli turned her face away.
She was used to being impulsive and not caring about the consequences. Back then, she used to have her parents, Stella, and Haward. But now, she had no one, and she could not handle the consequences alone.
Forget it. She wanted to die anyway. It would be better for her to leave some kindness behind in this world.
"I'm tired. I want to go to bed now," Eli turned around and walked towards the bed.
Sean held her left arm and stared at her. "You are not allowed to die before I'm done with you. Otherwise, I will take it out on those closest to you and let them live a life in h*ll."
Eli stared at his pair of gloomy eyes. It was so different from the bright smiling eyes he used to have. "You care so much about power and influence. Don't waste your time on me. With your strategy and wisdom, you will definitely be able to regain what you had."
"Do you think I'm what I am today because I care about power?" Sean sneered. "Yes, I wore my heart on my sleeve only to have it torn apart. Now, I only have power to rely on. Remember what I said. Don't do anything you will regret."
Sean turned around and left coldly.
Eli sat on the bed weakly, looking at her missing arm. Two guards entered the room warily and stared at her.
Feeling annoyed, Eli lay down on the bed and hugged her knees to her chest.
As soon as she stopped to take a break, she realised that her entire body was in pain, as if she had an infection. It was so painful that she could not even think straight.
She stayed in bed for another three months. Different doctors came to see her but Sean never showed up again.
Apart from her missing right arm that could not be recovered, her body was healing slowly.
That day, the weather was very nice. The wind was blowing on the branches outside the window, the leaves were falling to the ground, and little yellow flowers were scattered all over the floor.
With the guards beside her, she went out the door and stood under an osmanthus tree.
The flowers smelled sweet. Her mood lifted as she inhaled the refreshing scent.
She was not afraid of death, but she did not dare to die. She was really worried that Stella would be harmed.
She missed Haward. They often used to go flower picking together. Sometimes they would find chrysanthemums, and they would bring them home to make delicious tea.
She hadn't had tea like that in a long time.
"Miss Wayne," A man in a suit came over. He was British, about 27 years old, and was fluent in five different languages. His name was Reuben, and he gave others a sense of warmth because of his gentle and elegant temperament.
Eli had heard from the caretaker that Reuben had graduated from a top noble school in England. He specialized in taking care of royalty and the elite. In other words, he was a rich man's butler.
The requirements to enroll in that school were very strict, and the training was extremely harsh. Every student from the school would land a job even before they graduated and they were all offered high salaries. Naturally, Reuben was very popular among the female maids.
Eli nodded and said with a smile, "Nice to meet you."
"Are you feeling a little better?" Reuben asked nicely.
Eli nodded. "I feel much better."
Reuben looked disturbed as he said, "Mr. Yaleman said that you should start by being a maid. Because of your disability, I've arranged for you to work as my assistant. The job is mostly making rounds every day and things like that. I'll teach you slowly. Just make sure you note down the details so you don't make any mistakes."
Eli knew fully well that Sean was a spiteful man.
The reason he hadn't shown up before was that she was in poor health. He was probably worried that she might die if he tortured her too much. Therefore, he waited until she had recovered before he began making her suffer.
How childish.
She had no choice but to stay alive. Whether she was happy or sad, each day would still pass. The more others wanted to see her miserable, the more she wanted to do her best to be happy. "I will try my best to learn. Thank you, Reuben. You are a good person."
Reuben's face blushed slightly. "Now, you need to wear your uniform. I'll take you to your lodgings. We can talk on the way."
"Okay," Eli smiled and followed Reuben by his side.
"This manor is one of Mr. Yaleman's manors. He owns three such manors in D Country and two villas with their own backyards. Usually, there will be two guards on duty there to keep watch and clean," Reuben said softly.
Eli was quite fond of his voice. It was very gentle and soothing. "It's our job to make sure every corner is spotless?"
"Mr. Yaleman has a lot of real estates, and he often goes on business trips. We have to be on call 24 hours a day. But there are people around him all the time, so it's best if we don't show up in front of him and handle everything behind the scenes. For example, Mr. Yaleman is coming here today. So I have to notify the staff here to clean the place up and get here earlier. First, we must clean the places that Mr. Yaleman will see, and then on, we can get people to clean the other less conspicuous places. I also need to make sure the dinner menu is in order, arrange programs for him, and so on. It depends on the situation," Reuben explained.
"I think that you are very professional. The housekeeper at the President's mansion wasn't as detailed and meticulous as you are. If I remember correctly, it was Yvonne who had arranged everything," Eli recalled.
Reuben smiled. "Every profession has its experts. I graduated from a noble school after all, so perhaps, I am more detail-oriented."
"You even speak so many languages. I must learn from you so that I can tour the world next time."
"Do you like traveling?" Reuben asked curiously.
"Travelling helps people forget their worries and let go of their problems. It's the best way to destress. It's nice to leave everything behind and come back refreshed. If you could go traveling with someone you like, that's even better. It'll be a lifelong memory. I want to remember happy things and forget everything sad," Eli said cheerfully.
