Chapter 1088 What Is Your Relationship With Him?
"I can buy one myself," Waverly refused his offer and bought an ice cream herself.
Joseph widened his eyes, upset. He shoved his ice cream into her hands, "Eat it."
Waverly frowned, "I can't eat two."
"We'll deal with that later on," he said as he turned around. He bought the tickets and boarded the ship.
There were tables, chairs and mats. There was also a roof that could shelter them from the sun.
After boarding the boat, Joseph laid directly on the mat and put one hand over his forehead, covering most of his face.
Waverly looked at the two ice creams in her hands and sighed, looking at the shore next to her.
People really were quite strange. When she was at the shore, she had looked at the scenery of the river.
When she was on the boat, she chose to watch the scenery on the shore instead.
She was going to have dinner with the sergeant tonight, and she didn't want to bring Joseph along with her.
She was going to the black market to find an assassin. Although she wasn't going to hire someone to go after him, she wasn't so sure about the future. If she let Joseph find out about that, she might as well strip herself bare in front of him.
Waverly sighed again.
All of a sudden, Joseph sat up, surprising Waverly.
Joseph's gaze drifted over to the ice cream in her hands, "You're full already?"
"A little," Waverly said.
Joseph took half of the ice cream from her hands, taking a bite, "It's okay."
Waverly felt strange, looking at how innocent he seemed to be, "Did you come to Mexiland just to look for me?"
Joseph paused, looking a little uncomfortable. He looked down, "Look for you? You're overthinking this."
She also felt that she was overthinking.
Joseph had been so eager to see her leave Country M and he was the one who had asked her to get out. So, why would he come to Mexiland to look for her?
However, she still felt that the situation was a bit strange.
He had not come to see her, yet he knew her whereabouts immediately.
"You..."
"What?" Joseph interrupted her. "I came to see a friend of mine and happened to find out that you also came to Mexiland, so I asked for your location."
Waverly frowned.
If she remembered correctly, what he said after seeing her was that if she hadn't given him a call, she would have been dead.
Was that a coincidence?
The more Joseph tried to hide his motives, the more suspicious she became.
However, she didn't want to say it out loud. Even if she did, Joseph would still deny it. So, there was no point in her saying it.
In the past, she had reckoned that it was impossible for Joseph to like her purely because of their bad relationship, with him teasing her and provoking her. Of course, it was also possible that due to the fact that she had rejected him five years ago, he was filled with hatred and was ready to retaliate at the moment.
However, with his current behavior, he looked like he had truly fallen in love with her.
Was he faking it?
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Joseph asked.
"When I was on the plane to Mexiland, I wondered if you would come to look for me. I hoped that you would," Waverly said tentatively, locking her gaze on Joseph.
Joseph was stunned. His eyes lit up and he smirked, "Your lies are getting more and more convincing. However, I suggest you stop staring at me like that. What do you want to know? I will tell you."
Judging from his casual behavior, Waverly knew that he was on his guard again and she would fail to get anything out of him.
"Are you meeting your friend at noon or at night?" Waverly asked.
"Why do you ask?" Joseph asked lazily, half leaning on the mat.
"I'm here because I have something to do, and I also want to be with you. When you're going to run errands, I'm going to do mine as well. That way, we won't drag each other down," Waverly said, mimicking him by smirking.
Joseph's eyes were fixed on Waverly.
He liked her outfit a lot as it completely fitted his fantasy of her.
When she was by Bellamy's side, pretending to be gentle, her façade failed to match her hot temper at all.
"You want to be with me that much?" Joseph evilly asked again.
Waverly just smiled, saying nothing.
Tension rose between the two of them like they were fighting. Both of them could feel each other's intentions.
"I will give you a chance to stay together with me. You will accompany me when I handle my errands and I will accompany you when you handle yours," Joseph said with a smile, as if he had seen through all her tricks. After answering, he even felt proud of himself.
Waverly couldn't smile anymore, "I'm going to see a friend tonight. It'll be inconvenient for you to go with me."
"Didn't you say you want to be with me? What a lie. Try better in the future. It'd be boring for me if I was able to expose you so quickly," Joseph said. Finishing the ice cream, he looked at her pensively.
Waverly had no idea how to respond.
Him looking through her tricks like so made her uncomfortable. She turned away, her back to him, and took a deep breath.
Even if she stayed quiet, even if she wanted to cover it up, with Joseph's abilities, there was no way he wouldn't find out about her intentions.
"I fired Hayley," Waverly said, looking at the distance quietly.
The sunshine was beautiful, with a little shimmering.
Narrowing her eyes slightly, she continued, "I'm here to hire suitable guards."
Joseph smiled, "From the black market?"
Waverly glanced back at him, "Yes."
"You're going to find someone to deal with me?" Joseph asked directly, feeling great danger.
"Even if I were to hire 100 people from the black market, I wouldn't be your opponent. I just need to hire two people to help me with something. As for what I want to do, I haven't thought about it yet," Waverly said in a deep voice.
"Two? That's not enough, hire six. I'll pay for them," Joseph said. He put his arms around his chest, leaning against the railing. Looking lazy, he yawned, "I'm taking a nap. I didn't sleep the entire night. If you want to go ashore, let me know."
He yawned again as he closed his eyes.
Waverly looked at him thoughtfully. Before she could withdraw her gaze, he had already opened his eyes. Looking at her, he frowned slightly, "People from the black market cost at least tens of thousands of dollars and you've almost used up all your money. Where are you getting the money?"
She had originally wanted to sell his Thunder Gun. Before that, she had promised to give it to Bobe, but Bobe was one of Joseph's men already, so she didn't have to give it to him anymore. She would have enough money after she sold it for more than a hundred million dollars.
However, Bellamy had given her fifty million dollars afterwards. Hence, she hadn't sold the Thunder Gun and kept it for self-protection for the time being. She would sell it when no longer needed it anymore and return the money to Bellamy.
Seeing that she was staying silent, Joseph dialed a number, "Check how much money is in Waverly's account. Tell me the details in a minute."
Waverly sighed, "Bellamy gave me 50 million."
Joseph was upset as he kicked the leg of the table hard.
The table made a loud crack.
His face turned livid as his eyes were laced with rage. He said, "Both of you are already divorced, so you have nothing to do with him anymore. You don't even want ice cream from me, yet you want his fifty million dollars?"
