Chapter 1012 Pregnant
Joseph was furious, "If you are going to be like this the whole night, I'll be happy to accompany you."
His words were firm and determined, making no one be able to refuse him. His aura was also incredibly domineering.
Waverly felt powerless. Her circumstances at the moment were as if she had not eaten in days, and a piece of bread had appeared in front of her.
However, she was afraid that the bread contained poison, so she hesitated to eat it!
She still had many tasks to accomplish and she could not die just yet. Pride would suddenly become insignificant to her once he became stubborn enough.
Generally speaking, in order to have such a mindset, one needed to go through multiple setbacks. Otherwise, there would always be a wrong judgment of the environment and the wrong judgment of oneself.
She sighed, and the weight of her body sagged on him. She said, "If you want to be a king, with your talent, there are many ways you can succeed. You don't need to involve Bellamy in this. You don't have any deep-rooted rivalry with him. I'm willing to submit to you and let Bellamy go. Don't target him in the future."
Joseph smirked, "Waverly, I'll give you a chance now, but I won't give you a second one in the future. Cherish this while you still can."
He let go of Waverly and made a phone call. He only uttered a simple sentence, but his voice indicated that it was an order that could not be refused, "Cancel the plan. Since I've cheered up, I'll let them go wild first."
After that, Joseph hung up on the call.
"You've cheered up? What on earth do you mean by that? Who are you to say such pretentious words?" Waverly couldn't help but tease him.
"You like this kind of humor, don't you?" Joseph said as he playfully hit Waverly.
Due to his teasing, Waverly became ashamed and angry, slapping him on the face.
"You said you'll surrender to me, yet you still slapped me," Joseph said, holding her wrist.
"Didn't you hit me just now too?"
Joseph smiled, and his eyes sparkled, emitting a dazzling glint.
Waverly failed to understand his unpredictable personality, and the reason why he felt happy at the moment.
Finally, ten minutes later, everything was over.
Waverly only felt pain, and no longer wanted to say a word.
Still not feeling sleepy, Joseph put his arms around her waist and pulled her into his arms.
Perhaps it was because he had felt comfortable, but his voice was not as harsh as usual, and it was laced with a sense of sexiness that had not dissipated. He asked, "You didn't like the bag, and you didn't like the jewelry. What do you like? I'll ask someone to send it to you tomorrow."
She didn't care for bags, jewelry nor money. The things she liked were impossible for her to obtain in this lifetime.
An idea flashed through her mind, and although even she herself felt that this idea was fleeting, she said, "Joseph, I want a child."
Joseph's body stiffened as he kissed her neck, "Perhaps, you already have."
Waverly was shocked as she looked at Joseph.
She had mentioned that she wanted a child, because she knew that Joseph would not give her that. He was an extremely cautious man and had never trusted others. It would be impossible for him to give her a baby, for it was a trap.
If she bore his child, she could prove that Joseph had relations with her before, hindering him from becoming the emperor.
There was no way he would let that happen!
Maybe Joseph was only testing her. He had always liked to test others and figure out their inner thought processes.
"Really?" Waverly asked cautiously.
Although she wanted to cover her true emotions with a smile, she was unable to do so. Even she herself felt that her smile was overly fake.
"Are you crying or laughing?" Joseph asked teasingly.
She could not hide her feelings anymore and she burst out, "I don't know whether to cry or to laugh anymore. You must be lying to me."
"I've been with you so many times, and you haven't taken any contraception pills. Your menstruation hasn't come yet either," Joseph said.
Waverly frowned. In the beginning, she had actually taken contraception, but then she had thought, "How could Joseph get me pregnant?"
Seeing he had never taken any precautions, yet he was still so confident, she no longer took contraception pills as doing so would affect her health.
"Wait, no. I got sick last time and took the medicine. If I really was pregnant, you wouldn't have given me the medicine," Waverly said.
Joseph poked her nose and said, "It turns out that intelligence is contagious. You are much smarter than before."
She knew that he was lying to her, but didn't know whether she felt more relieved or disappointed.
"Go to sleep. I'll take you to the palace tomorrow."
Waverly began to tremble.
He always had a way to stir up trouble.
"Enter the palace? Didn't you ask me not to see Bellamy?" Waverly failed to understand his intentions.
"If you were the one responsible for the cooking competition, Bellamy's death would definitely become your fault. They would reason that due to the fact that you were taken out of the taskforce, your heart filled with hatred and committed suicide out of fear of punishment, By then, you would definitely be convicted of the crime. So, I definitely won't let you go. Since I won't kill Bellamy, your crisis has also been averted."
"Yasmine won't let me attend the reception."
"Of course, she was the one who asked me to kill you. How could she let you be in the spotlight? I don't want you to be the center of attention, either. It'd be a disaster."
Waverly couldn't understand, "Then, what do you mean by taking me to the palace?"
"As a member of the Mccarthy family, you have the authority to do so. I'll arrange everything. Don't worry. Just apply a day's leave with Madam Lenny tomorrow and continue working on Monday," said Joseph as he smirked.
Waverly felt that he had already planned everything ahead and everything was under his control. Was it possible that the current situation was the result of his plans?
Although she had thought that she would not be able to sleep that night, she was indeed physically worn out and fell asleep within seconds. The next day, the sun rose high in the sky, and the warm sunlight streamed through the window onto her.
Waverly woke up with a start, "What time is it now? It must be really late already."
She took out her cell phone from her pocket and looked at the time. It was already ten o'clock.
Weren't they going to enter the palace?
She jumped up, got dressed and went into the bathroom to wash up. Then, she opened the bedroom door and rushed out.
A maid was waiting outside. Upon seeing Waverly, she respectfully said, "Mr. Mccarthy has ordered me to take Madam to breakfast."
"Where's Joseph?" Waverly asked.
"Mr. Maccarthy has gone to the palace and said that he would let Madam sleep in until she wakes up naturally. He also told you not to worry and to send you back after having a meal," the maid said calmly.
Waverly saw that time had long passed, and it was already too late for her to go to work. She needed to apply for leave with Madam Lenny, or it would seem that she had skipped work and that wouldn't be good.
She called Madam Lenny and said, "I'm sorry, I can't come to work for the next two days."
"I know. See you on Monday. Complete the tasks I've given you as soon as possible. That's all. I'll go back to my work now," Madam Lenny hung up on the call.
She already knew?
