Chapter 889 Do It Just To Fulfill Your Wish

"There is, and that's to stop the Mccarthys from clearing their name. If their reputation does not recover, they won't be able to ascend to the empire and target the Griswells. That way, Sean will not be able to clear his name and we could maintain the status quo," Bellamy spoke solemnly. For a time, it seemed as though a storm had passed.
"What do you need me to do then?" Waverly asked with full determination.
No matter what he asked her to do, she will do it.
"I don't need you to do anything. I'm only telling you this out of habit," with a cavalier attitude, Bellamy raised a wicked smile.
Waverly's heart fluttered.
Bellamy had always been a conscientious person. No one could catch his thoughts from his face. He liked ice cream, but no one knew that. Everyone else thought he didn't like this kind of cold desserts.
He'd never showed his true feelings on his face.
He said that as a king, it would be very terrible if someone were to catch his preferences and weaknesses.
Over the five years that she was with Bellamy, she learned a lot from him, more than she had learned over the past twenty years.
He taught her reason, strategy, and life. Rather than being companions, he was her spiritual support.
She didn't think that she would one day become infatuated with him to this extent.
"You're not going to stop the Mccarthys from clearing their name, are you?" Waverly asked tentatively.
Bellamy's smile faded and he looked at her soberly.
Waverly beamed. She looked away, trying to make her smile lighthearted rather than self-deprecating, "You've done so much for Stella, does she know?"
"It's New Year's Eve, the last day of the year. Let's not talk about this. Want some water? I'll get it for you," Bellamy changed the subject.
Waverly shook her head, "You'd better go inside, Sandro is waiting for you to play with him. I'll stay at the swings a little longer. It's nice and cozy here."
"I'll give you a push," Bellamy said, approaching Waverly.
Waverly took his hand and said softly, "I like to swing slowly by myself. Bellamy, leave me alone, will you?"
Bellamy looked into her misty eyes and let go of her hand, "Call me if you need anything. I'll be in the living room."
Waverly nodded and watched Bellamy leave. Then, she rested her head on her arm.
Stella wanted to help clear Sean's name. Even though Bellamy knew the trajectory of events, he still didn't do anything. He did so to fulfill Stella's wish.
He was willing to do so, but she felt indignant for him.
The key to saving Bellamy might be Stella.
If it took a villain, then she'd be the one. Waverly didn't care what people thought of her. She only wanted the people she cared about to be okay.
With that in mind, she got off the swing and went upstairs, looking for Stella.
Stella was awake and reading a book.
"Can I talk to you alone for a few minutes?" Waverly asked directly.
"Sure." Stella put down her book and looked over at Waverly.
Anthea then carried Angela to the next room.
"My video was most likely made by Sean. Do you know about this matter?" Waverly asked.
Stella looked at Waverly calmly, "I guess so."
"So even if Bellamy lost his position as President, you're okay with it?" Waverly questioned with reddened eyes.
"Even if he loses the presidency, the Southern Bay will still look up to him. He'll be the boss of the special district," Stella promised.
"You think that he'll want that? What if Sean imprisons Bellamy the way Bellamy imprisoned him back then? Have you thought of that possibility? Maybe even worse than that," Waverly's eyes darkened, "He's not upset about losing the position but to be betrayed by his loved ones."
"Waverly, everyone is selfish in some way, and I am no exception. My selfishness isn't for Sean's benefit, but Bellamy's," Stella expressed.
Waverly froze. Her mind was digesting the words, but she couldn't seem to understand them, "What do you mean by that?"
"Back then, Sean saw Bellamy's ambition, and so did I. I wanted to protect him, but Bellamy put Sean's years of hard work to waste. Not only that, but he also imprisoned Sean for two years."
"Winner takes it all. I don't think that Bellamy was wrong. As a king, one should kill. Unfortunately, Bellamy was too merciful to let Sean go. You knew exactly who he was releasing Sean for. And you? The testimony you gave in court was completely biased in favor of the Griswells. Do you have any idea what the consequences would be?" Waverly was speechless.
"I know," Stella articulated clearly, "I know it was all set up by Sean. It appears on the surface that it was Weldon's attempt to rape Natasha that caused her to kill him by mistake. In fact, if I'm right, it was Natasha who had deliberately set him up and killed him."
"If you knew that, then why did you help Sean with the most crucial step of his plan?"
"Because that's all the prima facie evidence that was known, and the logical projections are the ones that could be seen. Everything else is my speculation. Without proof, no one would believe me even if I told them."
"But you should at least speak up and let Bellamy know that you're helping him," Waverly's heart went out to Bellamy.
"I couldn't do it because my single-mindedness let Sean off the hook for Bellamy. Look what happened. Bellamy made President, but Sean was imprisoned. My friend was sent abroad and separated from the love of her life. For the past five years, she has suffered inhumanely. She suffered from severe depression because of guilt, sadness, and fear. And all of this was because of me. Do you understand what I mean? I can't be the executioner and ruin his last hope."
"Is that why you're destroying my hopes, separating Bellamy and me, and pushing us into a never-ending hell?!" Waverly growled nonchalantly.
Stella fell silent and looked at Waverly steadily.
"I know that you're smart and perfect. Even when you did something wrong, no one resented you or hated you. Everyone admires you like a goddess and holds you in their hands like a treasure. However, I think that you are too ruthless. You are too cruel to Bellamy...," Waverly accused with tears in her eyes.
Stella gradually lowered her eyes.
From the moment she came back and let Bellamy let Sean go, she knew this would be the outcome.
All she had gambled on was Sean's piece of truth.
If Sean loved Eli, Eli would not have agreed to him going to war with her.
However, who could tell the future?
She did feel sorry for Waverly and Bellamy, "I'm sorry."
"If you're really sorry, go tell Bellamy that you want him to be President and that you want him to assert his rights. Please don't make him do it just to fulfill your wish," Waverly said, looking at Stella almost pleadingly...
