Chapter 865 I Will Feel The Pain With You
"Hello, Mr. Yaleman. It's Beckham. I'm currently in D Country. Will I get a chance to meet you?" Beckham asked politely.
Sean knew who Beckham was. Beckham became the successor of the Yaleman family after he stepped down.
Beckham, too, lived up to their expectations. He managed to establish his grounds in just one year, and it only took him four years to consolidate and strengthen his power.
Now, he had become the youngest deputy president in history and was one of Bellamy's strongest competitors.
"I'll send you the address later. See you in an hour," Sean said.
He knew exactly what Beckham wanted to say to him. The reason why he was meeting him was just to confirm his speculations.
He placed Eli on the bed and ordered his most trusted subordinates to protect her before he went out.
He met Beckham an hour later.
Beckham wore a pair of black-framed glasses and a brown windbreaker. Inside, he wore a black suit with a white shirt on. He seemed like a gentleman, exuding a charismatic aura with a gentle smile on his face.
However, only he knew just how many plans, schemes, fame, and greed were hiding beneath his smile.
Sean walked toward him and said, "It seems that the Yaleman family has quite a good eye."
Beckham replied humbly, "I'm still far behind compared to you, Mr. President."
"There are talents in every generation. It's still too early to say whether you are inferior. How long have you been in D Country?" Sean asked as he sat on the stone bench.
Beckham sat right next to Sean and said, "I came here for business yesterday. I'll be leaving tomorrow. I thought I should meet you before I leave, so I'm here."
The servant served them some tea before retreating.
Sean took a sip of tea and asked casually, "How old are you?"
"I'm twenty-seven this year. Mr. Yaleman, you were already the President when you were my age. So, I'm far inferior to you."
Sean looked at him and asked, "A Country's quadrennial presidential election has been postponed. When is the next election set?"
"Next month, on the 15th."
"Do you have the confidence to win?" Sean asked lightly.
"No. After all, Bellamy has Jasper's support. Milton Corp is doing very well over the past few years. Their Southern Bay projects are developing better than ever. The two of them have full control over both the military and financial aspects. It won't be easy to topple them, unless..." Beckham paused.
With a smile playing across the corners of his lips, Sean said, "Unless I start a war and have an overbearing advantage, then I can pressurize A Country into giving the Presidency to the Yaleman family."
Beckham said sincerely, "Mr. Yaleman, you really do know everything. All these years, the Yaleman family's power has been suppressed and it seems to be weakening. If we don't make any changes, the Yaleman family will fail or even disappear from the political sidelines. I hope that you could help us out, Mr. Yaleman."
"You're younger than me. Is it okay if I address you by your name, Beckham?" Sean said as he placed the teacup on the table.
"Yes, of course."
"What reason do you think I should use to start a war?" Sean asked.
"Bellamy stole your position. This would definitely be a good reason."
Sean smiled and asked, "What do you think are my odds of winning then?"
"Although D Country and X Country are both small countries, they are still powerful if they were to join forces. Even if there is no absolute advantage, I could still make use of the pressure from the public's judgment to force Bellamy to step down.
If I attack A Country, the first one to aid them would be M Country. Not to mention that Bellamy has married the daughter of the Mccarthy family. Even with his close relationship with the Griswell family, M Country would definitely help Bellamy without hesitation. If that happens, not only will Bellamy secure his position, but everything that I have had all these years would be destroyed as well," Sean reminded him.
Beckham paused, contemplating Sean's words. "I didn't think about this thoroughly. Your words have really enlightened me, Mr. Yaleman. I'm not as clear-minded as you are and I apologize. The Yaleman family needs you to be their support system."
"Your idea will not work. The only way is to make Bellamy and M Country enemies. I'll lie low and expand my power while waiting for the right time to attack. After all, I have already offended the Griswell family, and the Griswell family is attached to the Mccarthy family. If he offends the Mccarthy family, do you think that M Country would still help him? " Sean said logically.
Beckham seemed to be enlightened, and he said, "Mr. Yaleman, you are still the best strategist. I'll go back and reassess the plan now."
"You are only twenty-seven years old. You are still young even if you become the President at, say, thirty-one years old," Sean said cryptically and got up.
Beckham nodded respectfully.
"We are on the same boat now. After all, I'm also a member of the Yaleman family. I was framed and pulled down from that position, so I know what I should do. I shouldn't be affected by other people's willpower and do something that will make me regret it. There is no impenetrable wall in this world," Sean hinted at him.
Beckham knitted his eyebrows. He seemed to be thinking about something.
He used to despise Sean in the past. His first impression of Sean was that he was a person who could give up a country for love. However, he only knew how he had gotten rid of the three powerhouses after listening to some of his stories the last day. If Eli had not shown up in front of him, he would have lived a carefree life as the President.
His aura was certainly outstanding when he saw him now. He had a gentle and noble temperament, and he was truly a great strategist. It was no surprise that he only took three years to take control of the two small countries.
Sean was spacing out as he made his way back, and he closed his eyes.
He had so much in his mind that no one could figure out what he was actually thinking. Only he knew what his true thoughts were.
He went to check on Eli once he was back at the villa. Eli was still asleep, but she seemed to be having a nightmare. She was frowning and her eyelashes were damp.
He sat down on the edge of the bed and gently caressed Eli's stump, hoping to relieve her pain.
Eli opened her eyes when she felt the side of the bed sinking. She paused when she saw Sean and smiled, "I had a dream. I dreamed that I died when I jumped down from the upstairs. But my soul is still alive after I died."
"Don't talk nonsense. I'm going to follow you if you're jumping off a building in the future," Sean said hoarsely.
Eli replied delightfully, "You jump, I jump."
Sean finally felt a tinge of calmness and peace when he saw her smile. He asked, "Are you hungry? I'll ask them to prepare lunch."
"All I do is eat and sleep. My stomach isn't digesting well. I'll eat after taking a walk around the villa. Hopefully, then I'll have an appetite," Eli said with a smile.
What she was trying to imply was, she had no appetite now.
Eli stood up and frowned when she felt the pain in her stump.
"What's wrong? Is your arm still hurting?" Sean asked in anguish.
"This arm is worse than pregnancy. I'll have to treat it well once I fix it," Eli replied jokingly.
Hugging her, Sean said, "In the past, Jasper deliberately broke his finger to feel Stella's pain. I'm willing to break my arm for you to feel your pain. That way, we could then recover together."
