Chapter 950 Be Straight With Me
She knew that, but what she wanted wasn't to be with him. Even if the divorce didn't happen, she knew for a fact that she wasn't the one for Bellamy. Otherwise, they would have already slept together in the five years of their marriage.
All she wanted was for him to be safe for the rest of his life. She would protect and care for him from afar, and the occasional video chat sessions were already sufficient for her.
She smiled faintly, and her gaze was unreadable as she inquired, "Me and you, do you think things will work for us?"
"Well, we're at least making progress, aren't we?" Joseph leaned back in his chair and retorted with a smile.
It was more of a smirk, which was full of confidence. It was as if he knew the future, or even he could control the future.
Waverly pursed her lips and did not say anything. She didn't know what to say either. Thus, she just continued eating her meal.
He picked way too much meat for her, and it didn't take long for her to feel full. She didn't have much appetite, especially when dealing with someone like him.
"I'll head back to the Mccarthy family first. I still haven't fed your dog," she informed without looking at him.
"You should have known from my men already that you should feed the dog on time and that it eats five meals a day. Don't feed it too much, and don't feed any random thing to it. Have you named it yet?" He questioned.
She didn't want to name it. If she did, it was as if she had agreed to keep the dog.
Joseph gave the dog to her, and she didn't want it, but she couldn't refuse him either knowing his temper. If she didn't accept the dog, he would just kill it.
Seeing that she did not answer, he pried further, "Why? Do you not like it?"
She caught the danger in his tone, so she immediately replied, "No, I just didn't have the time to think of a name. How about you suggest one?"
"It's my gift to you, and it only makes sense that you name it." Joseph's tone was overbearing.
"Then let's just call it 'the dog'. It's easier to remember," she responded casually.
"You have a good memory. You don't need an easy name," he retorted.
"Then let's name it Lansnarowski Kaino," she purposely teased.
"It's settled then," he agreed.
She was left speechless.
She frowned. She couldn't even remember the name although she was the one who came up with the idea.
He smiled, and he seemed like he was in a good mood. He fixed his gaze on her and commented, "Let's just call it 'the dog' then. It's easy, and we won't forget the name."
Waverly didn't know why he was so happy. Was it because she embarrassed herself in front of him?
He left after the meal, and one of his expressionless subordinates was left behind to take care of the ladies.
"Madam, do you think that I can beat him?" Hayley whispered to her.
She shook her head and said, "Joseph wouldn't leave someone useless with him. Although they're quiet, they're experts too. You may not be able to defeat him."
"I feel useless now," Hayley sighed in disappointment.
"Who said that? If you hadn't come to save me, I would have drowned. Let's just not bother about him now," Waverly comforted her.
"Madam, get in the car. I will send you back," the man chimed in, still with a poker face.
Waverly knew that she could not escape from this. She got into the car. After some thought, she looked at him and asked, "Did my aunt make a fuss at Joseph's place before this?"
"Mr. Mccarthy told me to say 'Yes' if you brought up this question," the man uttered.
Waverly frowned. Joseph really had everything planned out. She asked again, "What else did he say?"
"He mentioned that you made the wrong decision five years ago, and he would never allow you to make another wrong decision five years later," he replied.
She didn't want to listen to him anymore. She gazed out to the window. She looked peaceful on the outside, but her thoughts were running wild on the inside.
Her decision five years ago was wrong to everyone else, but to her, that was the best decision she had ever made in her life.
In the past five years, she felt warmth and care that she had never been able to experience before. She saw a lot of different sceneries and even had the most romantic trip in her life.
Everything she had experienced in the past five years were the brightest moments in her life, and they were the memories she could reminisce on from time to time.
Unknowingly, they had arrived at the Mccarthy family home.
Waverly got out of the car. The man didn't go anywhere and just waited in the car.
Hayley looked back at him with a frown and asked Waverly, "So when will he leave? Why is he following us everywhere?"
Waverly shook her head. "He will leave eventually. I'm heading to Qianna's, and I'll escape through the windows."
"Madam, let me go with you. Qianna is too fierce for you to handle alone," she offered.
"That's good too. I'll head upstairs to feed the dog first," Waverly said. She fed the dog and didn't stay any longer. She escaped through the window by the kitchen corner.
She quickly made her way to Qianna's residence and knocked on her door.
No one answered the door.
"Madam, it seems that there is no one in. Could it be that she isn't back yet? Do you want to give her a call?" Hayley asked.
Waverly then realized she should have called Qianna first.
She dialed the number, and it took three rings before Qianna answered the phone.
"You still dare call me? I'm going to skin you alive once I get back," she yelled angrily.
"If you want to skin me alive, you should give me a reason, right?" Waverly asked calmly.
"Lenold followed you to Z Country and he was detained over there. Joseph is negotiating to save him. Did you tell him that you were going to Z Country? How did you seduce him? Tell me!" She was furious.
"Lenold's in Z country now?" Waverly was shocked.
"Stop putting on an act, you b*tch! Wait until I save Lenold, and I'll make you pay for this," Qianna hung up the phone.
Waverly narrowed her eyes. She did not expect Joseph to pull such a stunt, and Qianna was just too ignorant. How could she be blinded by her anger and jealousy that she couldn't see the logic behind the bigger picture?
If Waverly didn't guess wrongly, Lenold was only in Z Country because Joseph abducted him and took him there.
If Lenold died in Z Country...
Waverly felt a chill run down her spine. In that case, Qianna would certainly believe that she was to blame, and she would do everything she could to avenge for Lenold.
"Madam, Madam," Hayley shouted.
Waverly came to her senses.
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Hayley asked with concern.
Waverly shook her head. Her heart was uneasy. Everything was basically in Joseph's hands.
What would he want in exchange for Lenold's life?
If she told Qianna that Joseph was behind this, she would never believe her words, and would even accuse Waverly of driving a wedge between them.
She dialed a number.
Joseph picked up.
"Did you kidnap Lenold and bring him to Z Country?" Waverly was straightforward.
"Kidnap? No, I brought him along technically. We were heading to Z Country when I ran into him, so I just brought him along," he explained casually.
"Are you going to kill him?" Waverly was direct with her doubts.
Joseph chuckled.
She was most afraid of that laughter of his. She screamed, "Be straight with me!"
