Chapter 1074 If You Have The Ability, Don't Hesitate

"That's not true. Not everyone wants to only be friends with people who are beneficial to them."
"I don't mean benefit in terms of money. There can be benefits such as companionship and sincerity, right?" Waverly said pessimistically.
"Then that's not a benefit. It's the effort you put into the relationship."
Waverly smiled and replied, "Tell me, how many friends you made in primary school are you still staying in touch with, especially after they all went to different high schools? As for the friends in college, how many would you stay in contact with if they don't work in the same city? If you were to borrow money from them, how much would they offer?"
"I once asked a friend, and she immediately lent money to me," Hayley argued.
Waverly's smile widened. "You are working for the President, and you have direct contact with him. Who wouldn't see you as beneficial to them?"
When Hayley heard this, she frowned. "Benefits? Is that what's left between everyone? Why do we have to get married then? Why do we have to have children? Why do we have to sacrifice for our children, and why do we have to do that for each other?"
"If you can find a person who is willing to sacrifice himself for you, you must cherish him," Waverly advised. She thought of the time when Bellamy was willing to sacrifice himself for her back in Z Country.
She had experienced too much recently. She was depressed and no longer believed in people nor their pure intentions.
"If that's the case, what's the point of living? They are all just using me," Hayley mumbled and her eyes were red with tears.
"What we can do is to be a person of value; a person who everyone would see as beneficial to them. That way, we will become more valuable and will not lose the so-called friends. We will also not be hurt by them because we would already understand that it's human nature. Always remember to put ourselves before others."
Hayley looked at Waverly confusedly. She didn't understand nor agree with her words, but she didn't refute either and just lowered her head.
Noticing Hayley's upset expression, Waverly's heart ached even more.
She shouldn't have passed her negative thoughts on to Hayley.
Moreover, she also felt that she had said too much. What she said might not be correct. It was merely the comprehension she felt at that moment.
Perhaps this comprehension was part of one's obsession; an evil one.
"I might be wrong, though. You should just stick to your thoughts," Waverly added and took the initiative to stop the topic.
"Madam, are you using me?" Hayley suddenly asked.
From the start, Waverly had never thought of taking advantage of her. On the contrary, she hoped that Hayley could live independently and live a peaceful, happy and safe life.
Nonetheless, Waverly did not say a word.
Hayley smiled and continued, "There are still many good people in this world, just like you and I. I would never take advantage of you. It just that perhaps you haven't met a good person yet. But fret not, Madam, you're such a nice person. I'm sure you'll meet them one day."
Waverly couldn't help but smile upon hearing this.
She had experienced too much when she was a child, and even now in the present. Hence, she had become very pessimistic.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at Alley Street.
"Madam, put on your mask. You are very famous in A Country," Hayley reminded her.
"Okay, I've brought it," Waverly said. She took out a mask and a pair of sunglasses from the bag and then put them on. After that, she got out of the car with Hayley and they both walked into Alley Street.
Alley Street was considered a commercial street developed in A City over the years. The street was full of food stalls and accessories shops. It was a good place to shop.
She had never been to such places before when she was in A Country.
Hayley led the way and they arrived at a stall that sold fried sausages. "Madam, I want this. It looks very delicious."
"Boss, I'll have one," Waverly said as she handed six dollars to the vendor.
"Madam, don't you want one?"
"No, I don't want to eat this now."
The vendor handed the fried sausage to Hayley.
Hayley held Waverly's hand while they walked. Hayley spoke again as she ate, "I'm sure the President still likes you. In near future, you two will no doubt get back together."
"You're thinking too much."
Hearing the familiar voice, Waverly turned around and saw Joseph. She asked in surprise, "What are you doing here?"
"It's always easy to find you. What do you think I was doing in your room yesterday?" replied Joseph in a faint voice.
Waverly's face flushed red. Fortunately, she was wearing a mask. "So you installed a tracker on me? Where did you put it? I'm wearing new clothes and a new wig."
"I injected it in your arm," Joseph answered.
Waverly was instantly angered and she seethed, "Joseph, are you a pervert? You injected it in my arm?"
Joseph laughed and said, "I lied. Did you actually believe it? Wouldn't you feel pain if I had injected something into your arm? Aren't you afraid of pain?"
Only then Waverly understood his dirty joke. "Where did you install it?"
"In your bag. You only brought a bag with you. Otherwise, do you think I would really inject it in you?" Joseph teased.
Waverly immediately rummaged her bag and sure enough, she saw a bean-sized tracker in it.
She threw the tracker on the ground and glared at Joseph unhappily. "Has anyone ever said that you are a controlling maniac who's overly possessive?"
"Yes." Joseph smirked and said, "You."
"Would you be happy if I installed a tracker on you?" Waverly retorted.
"You can try if you're capable," Joseph said arrogantly.
Feeling exasperated, Waverly didn't want to talk to him anymore and she walked away.
However, Joseph grasped her hand and interlocked her fingers.
Waverly could not get rid of him even if she tried. "There are so many people here. Aren't you afraid Yasmine would see you?"
"I wouldn't have done it if I was afraid. What delicious food here in A Country would you recommend to me? I'm in a good mood today. I'll walk around with you." Ignoring her protest, Joseph held her hands and walked forward.
He wasn't afraid of being seen, but she was.
After all, many people here knew her. If anyone took photos of her and Joseph together, she would never be able to return to Bellamy for the rest of her life.
But... did she still want to be with him?
She was very confused at that moment. She could no longer figure out Bellamy's thoughts.
"What good recommendations do you have?" Joseph asked again.
Waverly had no choice but to lower her voice and said, "Let go of my hand. I'll take you there."
Joseph chuckled and then kissed her through her mask on the crowded street.
Waverly was taken aback and she quickly stepped back.
He took the chance to put his arm around her waist, saying, "You're going to hit someone."
"Joseph, you did that on purpose!" Waverly exclaimed in shock.
"Do you still want me to let go?" Joseph asked with an underlying meaning.
Upon witnessing Joseph kissing Waverly, Hayley flew into a rage. She pointed at him and warned, "Let go of Madam! Or else, I'll deal with you."
Joseph looked at Hayley and scoffed. "What are you going to do? I've been wanting to deal with you for a long time anyway."
Waverly noticed the vicious look in Joseph's eyes and she quickly covered them with her hand. She then said to Hayley, "Hayley, go and find something to eat first. Then wait for me at the place where we got off just now."
Joseph pulled away Waverly's hand. "What's wrong? Can't bear to see her get hurt?"
