Chapter 985 Reluctant

"Before she gave me the project, she asked me to take the examination in May. She said that doing so would promote me to a diplomatic officer," Waverly continued.
"She knows what you want. She's good at manipulating people. If she gives you benefits, you won't refuse her because of it. The so-called benefit is a bait in the net. I actually don't approve of you taking over her project." Bellamy answered.
"If I don't take it, she'll know that I'm up to something. Moreover, she'll think that I won't be easy to control. I'm afraid that I will be suppressed by the Ministry of External Affairs in the future. Under her guard, there will be no room for me to excel.," Waverly spoke in a serious manner.
"Waverly, why did you want to enter the Ministry of External Affairs?" Bellamy asked in confusion.
Waverly was silent.
There were many reasons as to why she entered the Ministry of External Affairs. The first reason was because of Madam Lenny who was in the Ministry of External Affairs and wanted to destroy the alliance between her and Joseph. There was no other way for her to get close to Madam Lenny, so she could only go to the Ministry of External Affairs.
Secondly, Yasmine was also in the Ministry of External Affairs. As long as she was next to Yasmine, Joseph wouldn't act rashly. Thus, she also provided her with many opportunities to destroy their alliance.
Thirdly, she didn't understand infantry. There's a great number of talented individuals in both the Mccarthy and Harington family. She couldn't possibly compete with them. Even if she did, she wouldn't have the capability to make any noticeable achievements. Only in the Ministry of External Affairs was where she could make use of her talents. At least, she would have foreign resources. If she could become like Madam Lenny one day, she would become Bellamy's strongest ally.
Fourthly, personally, she still wanted to see him as a diplomatic representative.
"You can try guessing," Waverly said ambiguously.
He got most of the reasons right, but she wouldn't tell him so. He was unsure, so he took a deep breath.
He knew that he could not persuade her to leave. Since she wanted to do so, he could only help her, "You should do what you need to do perfectly. For example, if they want you to register, you should register. If they want you to start a company, you should start one. Don't make any mistakes in all the procedures. You should do it meticulously. Send me the list of ingredients later. I will have someone to investigate whether it is a banned product and what its use is."
"Okay," Waverly responded. She had no idea how to run a company, so she needed to learn and work harder.
Bellamy looked at her being well-behaved and remembered the time when she had first followed him. She had no clue how to do anything back then too. She would tremble in fear every day and wrote everything he had taught her in her notebook. Not only did she memorize them all, she would also emulate the scenes and consolidate them over and over again.
He would always feel that she was adorable, yet feel sorry for her at the same time.
"Don't worry, I will send someone to help you later. He will help you solve your problems," Bellamy comforted her.
Waverly's heart tightened.
She didn't want to be a burden to Bellamy again.
"No," she declined instantly and forced a smile. "I can do it myself."
"I know you can, but it is better to have someone to teach you. When he has taught you everything and you have finished your apprenticeship, he will return. Please give him a chance to work, as well as a chance to showcase his capabilities," Bellamy said with a smile.
Waverly's heart throbbed more violently as she stared fixedly at Bellamy.
"What should I do?" She thought to herself.
She really was reluctant to leave Bellamy at all. Even if she could only listen to his voice, she would still be very satisfied.
However, Bellamy would soon discover her secret.
She could not bear to see Bellamy be disappointed in her.
However, she was unwilling to give up her last bit of sunshine, Bellamy, her only means of living.
For some reason, the rims of her eyes turned red.
She didn't want Bellamy to see her crying. So, she quickly said, "I understand. You have to take care of yourself too."
"Okay, see you the day after tomorrow," Bellamy said in a soft tone and smiled.
His smile shone directly into her heart.
She knew that she had to push him away, because letting him leave her life completely was good for the both of them, but she just couldn't bear to do so. She was reluctant, as if doing so was equaled to tearing her own heart out.
"See you," Waverly said and hung up on the call hurriedly.
Tears rolled down her face uncontrollably.
When she thought of how her eyes had been injured, she could not become too emotional. If she lost her sight, it would be even harder for her to carry on with her plans.
She took one deep breath after another.
The cell phone rang again. It was Bobe.
She answered immediately.
"I told my friend about it, and he said he could take you to the dinner. Yazoo invited a lot of people this time and allowed his friends to bring their friends. Moreover, they have arranged for a karaoke session which is also in the Celestial Aroma Restaurant. If you want to go, my friend will go to the Mccarthy Mansion to pick you up," Bobe said.
"Yes, ask him to call me when he is at the gates of the mansion." Waverly answered.
"Okay," Bobe hung up the phone.
Waverly went to the bathroom to remove her ruined makeup and reapplied her skincare products and cosmetics.
It was just a simple makeup, so she was done in fifteen minutes.
She wore a short chestnut-red wig, looking younger and more fashionable. After all, she had to eat with a group of young people, so she had to look fresher.
When Waverly was heading out, Hayley was still cooking.
"Hayley, I want to go out. I'm not going to eat dinner at home," Waverly said.
Hayley ran out with a spatula in her hand, "Madam, where are you going? Are you going on a blind date?"
"No, I have something to deal with," Waverly said.
"I'll go with you. If you go alone, I won't be at ease," Hayley said worriedly.
"I've got the Thunder Gun. I'll be fine, don't worry," Waverly smiled as she replied.
"But..." Hayley pouted. "Do you not trust me? You won't take me with you no matter what you do."
"Of course it's not that," Waverly didn't want her to overthink the matter. "The Moore family refused to go on the blind date. I want to know the reason behind it so that we can prevent trouble in the future. Otherwise, the next blind date will not end well either."
"Do you have to go on blind dates?" Hayley asked.
Waverly nodded, "If I want to be freed from Joseph's control, I must seek outside help. Otherwise..."
Waverly no longer continued speaking. Thinking of the previous car accident, she was not only disgusted by Joseph but also afraid of him.
He was someone who could make people fear him from the bottom of their hearts. He looked good-natured, fierce yet bloodthirsty at the same time.
"Then, we can ask the President for help. Since he loves you so much, he will definitely help," Hayley said in confusion.
The words 'loves you' hit her hard in the heart.
Others might not know about the truth, but she knew it herself.
Bellamy had never loved her. Otherwise, why had nothing happened between them for the past five years? She had even taken the initiative to rekindle the fire a few times.
"He and I are not like what you think. Besides, it's impossible for us to get together," Waverly said gloomily.
"Why is it impossible? The President likes you and you like him too. That's all that's needed, right?" Hayley said innocently.
"If he was just a normal civilian, even if I did something wrong, as long as he wanted to forgive me, we could still be together. However, he is an emperor. The stain on his name will be magnified thousands of times and be recorded down in history. Forget it," Waverly kept those words in her heart because Hayley would be sad. Instead, she replied, "I'm going out. You take care of the dog at home."
