Chapter 1079 Are You Disappointed In Me?
Yasmine rushed in with a fruit basket on her arm. Although Bellamy's arm was treated in time, the wound where the snake had bitten was still purple and black in color, extremely swollen. It was shocking to look at.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Chuck. If it weren't for you, the one lying in bed right now would be me. I wouldn't have been able to get out of bed even after a month," Yasmine said.
"You're an esteemed guest, so it was negligence on my part. I didn't check clearly and almost let the snake attack you. I'm sorry to have frightened you," Bellamy said.
Yasmine smiled brightly, "Now I know why Waverly likes you so much."
"Waverly is in M Country now, and she is in your department. I hope you can take care of her more in the future," Bellamy said.
"My mother values her very much. Perhaps she will be promoted soon. It's me that needs to be taken care of as my mother always asks me to look up to her. Since she is able to earn your favor, I should really learn from her."
"I'm afraid I can't personally attend to you these few days. A Country still has a lot of beautiful places for you to visit. I'll arrange for my people to accompany you. If you need anything, don't hesitate to let me know," Bellamy said.
Yasmine lips curled into a smile, "You saved me, so I should match my schedule with yours. Besides, you got injured because of me, thus I can't just leave like this. My mother will definitely blame me for being ignorant. Please take good care of your injuries first, and we'll talk about other things later."
"Okay."
When the attending doctor came in and saw Yasmine, he paused and stayed quiet.
Yasmine realized that it was because of her presence that it was inappropriate for him to speak, so she knowingly stood up and said, "You go ahead and carry on. I'll take my leave first."
"Alright, send the guest off," Bellamy ordered, and the guard escorted Yasmine out.
After Yasmine went out, the attending doctor said, "Everything has been arranged. We'll send you down now."
Bellamy nodded.
Half an hour passed.
Waverly saw that Hayley had almost finished her meal, so she said to the waiter, "The bill, please."
The waiter glanced at Hayley and replied respectfully, "Your bill has been paid by the gentleman who came with you."
"Okay, thank you." Waverly picked up the mask and put it on.
"Madam, are we leaving now?" Hayley asked.
"I don't think we're going back to M Country today. You can go wherever you want," Waverly said.
Hayley smiled cheekily and said, "I want to follow you around, Madam. Please don't leave me behind. I'm sure I'll be obedient in the future and listen to Madam's orders. I absolutely won't do anything that Madam doesn't want me to do."
Waverly sighed and said, "Hayley, I've made up my mind. I won't let you follow me around anymore. You are too young to be involved in such complicated issues, especially the issues of the Mccarthy family. What's more, you are too weak. You can't even defeat one of Joseph's bodyguards. I have to worry about your safety at all times. You are a burden to me."
Hayley could see that Waverly was telling the truth, and her smile froze on her face, "I will work hard to practice fighting in the future."
"Then, come to me after you've learned some skills. You don't have to pay me back the money I gave you last time. With that money, you don't need to worry about food and clothing even if you don't work as a bodyguard. This meal is the last one between us. Don't follow me anymore," Waverly said harshly.
"I will even risk my life to protect you, Madam, I swear," Hayley's eyes turned red, and she raised her hand.
"What I want is never for you to risk your life. That's it," Waverly said, picking up the bag and walking out the door.
Hayley followed Waverly the entire time.
Waverly walked out of the alley, and several guards stopped her.
Waverly knew one of the guards as he was one of Bellamy's trusted subordinates.
"Madam, please follow me," the guard said in a low voice.
"Is he here?" Waverly asked.
The guard nodded.
Waverly sighed. She might have to stay here for a few more days. If he wanted to see her, no one would be able to stop him.
She followed the guard into the vehicle.
Bellamy was leaning against a bed and he was on IV drip.
Waverly glanced at his hand, which was very much swollen.
Several doctors were standing behind him, trembling with fear.
Bellamy kept his eyes locked on hers all the time. His gaze was dark and moody as he asked, "Are you still angry?"
Waverly shook her head. Seeing that there weren't many seats, she sat beside the bed and calmly said, "I'm not angry."
"If something happens at the President's Mansion, I will have to be responsible for it. I can't let those people succeed, and since I'm the one closest to Yasmine, I had to do it. It was an emergency," Bellamy explained.
"I understand," Waverly said.
From that moment on, she understood why his actions had been necessary, and she no longer blamed him. Since he was in a high position, he couldn't afford to make the slightest mistake. If he got overthrown, he would be imprisoned for life.
However, her heart and blood would run cold.
Bellamy stretched his hand out to touch her face, and Waverly dodged it defensively.
Bellamy furrowed his brows and looked at her deeply. His hand remained in the same posture in the air.
Waverly smiled and asked, "Are you hungry? Since you're in this state, it's best for you to have some plain porridge."
Bellamy withdrew his hand and remained silent.
Being watched by him, Waverly was not at ease, "Judging by your current state, I think you'd better go to the hospital to rest. Your health is more important."
Bellamy looked down at her and remained silent. Two minutes later, the atmosphere became more and more intense.
"What's wrong?" Waverly asked.
"Are you disappointed in me?" Bellamy asked pointedly.
"I'm not disappointed in you but in myself. Life is too powerful and harsh, yet I'm too small and delicate. Bellamy, take care of yourself and don't get hurt in the future. You have been getting injured too often recently," Waverly said.
"When I was your age, I also felt that I was just a tiny dot. I was just a nameless soldier, and my enemy who slaughtered my entire family was Quinn, who had the power to decide life and death. However, I had my eyes set on a goal, and hence I kept moving forward towards it. Slowly, five years passed. Ten years later, I achieved my goal. The worst thing you can do is give up when you face challenges."
Waverly curled the corner of her mouth and said, "People tend to stray from the path that they had planned to take, especially when they aren't clear-headed. Who knows what will happen in five to ten years? This won't be the end for me, but a fresh start. Bell, I want to become a better version of myself."
Bellamy gazed deeply into Waverly's eyes, "I will help you."
"You've already helped me enough. If you continue to help me, I will never grow. Perhaps, if you let me walk this path alone, then only I can become a better version of myself," Waverly said rationally and calmly.
It seemed that no matter what he said, it was useless.
Waverly had already made up her mind. Other people's opinions and the consequences she would face were no longer important to her.
For the first time, he suddenly felt empty and helpless. He simply said, "If you want to come back, call me. I will definitely welcome you back."
Waverly smiled brightly, as if she had never been hurt before. She said calmly, "Okay."
