Chapter 1016 Why Do You Ask? Are You Jealous?

Melinda pulled a face and said, "She's a disgrace to our family. I don't know what Thomson was thinking when he brought her back. I'm so ashamed of her."
"I'm afraid it's not Thomson who wanted her to come back. Melinda, you'd better suck up to her. Maybe she'll be very powerful in the future," Qianna said in a profound way.
Melinda derided, "No matter how great she will be, it's better to not have such a disgraceful girl as a daughter."
Upon hearing Melinda's words, Waverly's face was expressionless as there was not even the slightest emotion in her eyes.
Joseph had mentioned that Melinda was not her mother, but the murderer who had killed her real mother.
To ever hear pleasant words from a woman who had killed her biological mother was more terrifying for Waverly. She'd rather listen to Melinda's insults.
She did not avenge her mother's death as she had no real attachments towards her. She only knew that her real mother had been killed by Melinda. Sooner or later, she would have her vengeance, but not at the moment.
Moreover, even if she wanted to take her revenge at the moment, it was just impossible for her to fight back. Additionally, she also wanted Melinda to go against Joseph.
Reality was just so. One couldn't do whatever they wanted, neither could they have whatever they wished for.
Most of the time, even if she tried her best, she would still be far away from her goal, especially whenever both sides of the fight had unequal level of strengths. The only thing she could do was to be shrewd and wait for an opportunity to fight back.
Waverly went straight into the kitchen and poured a glass of water.
"Madam, they're talking about you. Do you want me to teach them a lesson?" asked Hayley.
Waverly looked out of the window and calmly drank the water as she said, "They aren't the same type of people from last time. That time, it was just the civilians who Qianna bought in. They were already at fault and I had Thomson's protection, so there was no problem. However..."
Waverly's eyes swept over Melinda and gave her a cold look, "If you beat her up, the consequences will be you losing your life. It's not worth it."
"Then, I'll scold them for you. How can she talk about her own daughter like that?" Hayley said angrily.
"I don't care. To me, she is nothing of value. What I am to her is also not important at all. So, don't get so angry in the future, don't care about them, don't be impulsive, don't be arrogant, don't be the hero, and don't get yourself into trouble," Waverly warned Hayley.
Hayley nodded and said, "Madam, your personality is so good. You can hold your temper. If I were you, I would fight back."
"If fighting could solve problems, why do we even need to study? Everyone would choose to study fighting skills instead," Waverly said while pouring a glass of water for Hayley, handing it over to her. "After they leave, the family will be in a state of chaos. Moreover, there might be someone sabotaging our house. You should check the surveillance cameras and make a copy of all the footage. It will be useful to keep these copies."
"Yes, Madam, I know what I should do. I'll go back to my room and keep an eye on the surveillance monitors now," Hayley said, understanding Waverly's orders.
Waverly nodded, "Go ahead."
"But..." Hayley frowned. "Will they bully you?"
"Thomson will also come over. For Thomson's sake, they won't go too far," Waverly said.
"If Madam needs me, you can just call out to me and I'll immediately appear," Hayley patted her chest as she promised.
Waverly smiled, "Take good care of yourself."
"Alright, I'm leaving. I'm going to keep an eye on the monitors to prevent someone from tampering them," Hayley quickly went out.
Waverly finished drinking the water but did not leave. Instead, she just sat in the kitchen.
There were not many people in the Mccarthy family who liked her. If she went out, they would only gossip about her. So, there was no need for her to do that.
Her cell phone rang.
Waverly saw that it was Thomson. She picked up and greeted, "Uncle Thomson."
"I don't see you. Are you here?" Thomson asked as he looked for her.
"Yes, I'm here. I was drinking water in the kitchen. I'm coming out now," Waverly said and stood up.
"Come out. We will leave soon. Follow me," Thomson said. "I have something to tell you."
"Okay."
Waverly went out of the kitchen and saw many people outside. Three of Melinda's family members were there and Qianna had come alone. Joseph's parents had also arrived, along with a girl. Waverly vaguely remembered the girl. She was Joseph's cousin, the daughter of his mother's younger sister. She called Joseph her cousin, who was three years younger than them.
Waverly suddenly had a realization.
No wonder Joseph did not care about the relationship between Qianna and Lenold.
This girl was likely to be Beckham's arranged marriage partner.
Waverly received a text message from her mobile phone as it rang.
She glanced at it. It was from Joseph, "Your outfit is more old-fashioned than your aunt's. Does Bellamy like the outfit you're wearing?"
Waverly really felt that Joseph was a formidable force as he was perceptive and could precisely read other people's thoughts.
No one would be willing to expose their thoughts to others. That was even more terrifying than being stark naked.
She did not answer him and put her phone away.
Joseph gave a derisive laugh.
Only then did she realise that at some point, Joseph had come to her side. Her back stiffened, and she pretended not to notice him.
Her cell phone rang again.
She looked at it, and it was yet another text message from Joseph.
"Change your clothes now. I'll only give you three minutes. If you don't do so after three minutes, I'll help you change," his words held an authoritative manner.
Waverly frowned. Such a person like Joseph would definitely do such a thing.
She turned around, glanced at him, and went upstairs.
She changed into an orange-colored skirt that Hayley had selected for her, pairing it with a white blouse. Then, she walked down the stairs.
"She's really a wh*re. She changed her clothes as soon as she saw that some men were coming," Joseph's mother, Giselle said disdainfully.
"I asked her to change. I don't like her wearing black," Joseph said in a low voice.
Upon hearing his words, Giselle got angry and slapped him on the arm, "Stop looking for trouble. You and Yasmine better stay together. Don't ruin your own future."
Without moving an inch, Joseph pursed his lips and stayed quiet.
"You need to know your priorities. A woman like Waverly who always seduces a lot of men at first sight, don't you think she's filthy?" Giselle deliberately insulted Waverly.
Still keeping quiet, Joseph did not look back at Waverly.
"I will give the tickets to you all. Sit according to your seat numbers," Thomson said. Then, he gave out the tickets according to their own families.
Waverly stood at the back, and she was also the last one to get the ticket.
"Let's go," Thomson said to Waverly.
"Alright," Waverly followed Thomson and got into his car.
As soon as she went in, she heard the notification of a text message ring from her phone.
"Which seat are you in?" Joseph asked.
If she failed to reply, Joseph would definitely stir up some trouble.
She looked at the ticket and said, "No. 45 on the 2nd floor."
"Yazoo is in No. 46 of the 2nd floor. Thomson wants to matchmake you and Yazoo. You know what to do," Joseph reminded.
Waverly frowned. Due to the fact that Yazoo had Bernald's heart in him, she was reluctant to drag Yazoo into her business. That would be too cruel of her.
"I'll exchange my ticket with yours," Waverly replied.
"I'm sitting at No. 5 on the 2nd floor. Are you sure you want to switch seats with me? The person sitting next to me is Madam Lenny."
Just by reading his text message, Waverly could imagine how arrogant Joseph was acting at the moment. His seat was nearly in the center. She replied, "Not only is Madam Lenny sitting next to you, but Yasmine as well, right?"
"Why do you ask? Are you jealous?"
