Chapter 1136 Taking The Initiative To Face Things

Boris asked, "What's the solution?"
Breddy answered, "We'll have to make her take the initiative to face it."
Boris sighed, "That's easier said than done."
Shaking his head, Breddy replied, "It's not too hard. You said it yourself that she's a kind person. She would even help a complete stranger, so what makes you think she won't save a person that's extremely important to her?"
Boris was stunned.
Breddy continued, "If this person was heavily injured for her, she would realize that there's someone in this world who still loves her, and she'll naturally want to stay in this world for a little longer. By then, she'll be willing to open up her heart."
Boris took a pause, and said, "But who is this person?"
To the Waverly Martell of the past, Bellamy was everything to her. However, at present, he was nothing.
She cared about everyone, but she refused to let others care about her. It seemed as if she had already merged into the world, but the truth was that she had always been wandering around the edges.
Breddy seemed to have already expected such a situation, and he comforted Boris, "We have to be patient. There may not be any important people or things to her now, but there will be in the future. We just have to wait for the right timing."
Boris nodded, and got up to send Breddy out of the room.
As soon as he returned to the room, he gave it a good thought, and then gave Joseph a call.
......
An hour later, under Joshua's arrangement, Waverly and the others boarded the ship.
The ship was bigger than she had imagined, and there were more people than she had expected.
"Joseph booked a shared ship?" she asked in confusion. "Has he been very poor lately?"
Joshua rolled his eyes at her and explained, "They participated in Mr. Mccarthy's charity event. They'll be returning with us now."
Understanding the situation, Waverly asked Joshua, "Where is my room?"
Joshua gave her the room card and said, "Your room number is 1206, and the other two people will be living on this floor, too. You can venture to the other floors yourself."
Waverly was already used to his attitude. After receiving her room card, she took Agnes and Boris to take the elevator.
In the elevator, Agnes ranted about Joshua's terrible attitude. She disliked the way he behaved, but she couldn't beat him in a fight, so she could only scold him secretly.
Watching how Agnes behaved made Waverly laugh, and she started to feel much better.
They stepped out of the elevator, and swiped their cards to enter their rooms. As she entered the room, she realized that she was staying in a presidential suite, and it even had a view of the sea. The long French windows allowed her to look at every single bit of the beautiful scenery.
Staring at the marvelous view, Waverly couldn't help but feel relaxed. Joseph was truly clever when it came to making such arrangements.
"Do you like it?" Waverly was admiring the scenery when a familiar man's voice came from behind all of a sudden.
She turned around right away, and saw Joseph in a silver colored suit. His slender body leaned lazily on the wall, and there was a bewitching smile on his handsome face.
Waverly returned to her senses and said, "Didn't you go back?"
Joseph stood up straight and walked over to her, saying, "I went back, but then I started to miss you, so I flew back here."
Waverly replied, "You must have too much money to waste."
He walked up to her and bent down slightly, then placed his lips next to her ear, chuckling, "What's wrong? Are you trying to help me save some money?"
Waverly pushed him away, "Yeah. If you have so much money to waste, then you should just give the money to me instead."
Joseph denied, "I can't do that. There's only one person who I can share my wealth and properties with, and that's my wife."
After that, he extended his arm and took her hand, as he stared at her with an alluring gaze. He asked, "How about you be my wife?"
At that moment, Waverly almost got sucked into the whirlpool that was Joseph Mccarthy.
She forced herself to calm down, and tried to look at Joseph nonchalantly, "Don't forget about Yasmine."
Joseph's smile froze, and he released her right away, saying, "There's nothing wrong with getting married to you and then getting married to her."
Waverly frowned, "What do you mean?"
Joseph said with a smile again, "I want to get married to you now, so let's just get married. When I need to get married to Yasmine, then we'll get a divorce. Isn't that a good idea?"
Waverly said with a heavier tone, "Is marriage supposed to be a game to you?"
Joseph exposed her scars and said, "Wasn't your marriage with Bellamy kind of like a game too?"
Waverly was taken aback, and she no longer bothered talking to him anymore. She bumped into him with her shoulder, and walked straight towards the door.
"Where are you going?" Joseph caught up to her and asked.
Waverly said in annoyance, "I'm going to eat."
Joseph smiled and said, "Let's go together. I'm hungry from all that travelling."
Of course, Waverly didn't want to be with him at all and didn't even want to talk to him. However, he was the one who had booked the ship, so she couldn't avoid him if he really wanted to follow her.
Without saying a word, Waverly rolled her eyes at Joseph and went out.
The smile on Joseph's face was still there, but the joy in his eyes was gone.
He closed the door behind him and followed Waverly into the elevator.
It wasn't time for a meal, so there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. When they arrived, there was only a table of six eating and chatting there.
The group of people looked like they were in their twenties or thirties. They were dressed formally, and they greeted the two of them enthusiastically when they entered.
Waverly and Joseph responded to the greetings politely, but paid them no mind. They looked for a table near the windows to sit down.
Waverly ordered the dishes first, and she deliberately chose dishes that Joseph disliked. After ordering, she told the waitress to bring the meals to their table as soon as possible, so that he wouldn't get a chance to cancel them.
Joseph couldn't help but laugh, "Since when have you become so childish? All I did was mention your dark history, and you're taking revenge on me this way?"
Waverly said, "Since you know that it's my dark past, you should know that it's something that shouldn't be mentioned. You mentioned it, yet you expect yourself to be able to get away with it? Dream on."
Joseph shrugged helplessly, and gave up on bickering with Waverly.
As they were waiting for the dishes, the sound of a door being locked came from the entrance of the restaurant.
Waverly was sitting with her back facing the door, so she failed to comprehend what was going on. She wanted to see why the door was being locked. However, the minute she turned around, her eyes caught sight of a black muzzle, and her body tensed up immediately.
Joseph sat in front of her, but he responded very quickly, shouting, "Be careful!"
He couldn't pull Waverly back in time, so he could only snatch the gun from them.
The person with the gun was from the table of six that were still eating happily minutes ago.
The six of them were a team. Seeing that Joseph had run forward, the other five came over and surrounded them.
Someone attacked Joseph with a knife, but Joseph had already snatched the gun over, and he pushed the person with the gun towards him. The two of them crashed into each other and fell to the ground.
"Stop," Joseph pointed the gun at the two people on the ground to threaten the other three.
"Release the gun!" Nonetheless, they had already held Waverly captive, and placed the knife against her fragile neck. Not long after, blood started leaking out of her fair neck.
Joseph's face darkened, and he emanated a powerful aura. He said coldly, "Let go of her, and I'll give you anything you want."
Hearing that, the person that held Waverly captive chuckled and said, "I didn't expect the ruthless and cold-blooded Joseph Mccarthy to say such a thing for a woman!"
Joseph remained silent and only pointed the gun at the hostages.
The person held the knife slightly closer to Waverly's neck, and said, "You're willing to give us anything eh...Alright then, give us your life!"
Joseph looked at them and said, "I'll give you my life, but you'll have to let go of her first."
"Joseph Mccarthy!" Waverly roared, "Are you crazy?!"
"Maybe," Joseph said with a faint smile.
As he said that, he bent down slowly to put the gun down.
Waverly was so anxious that she yelled, "Joseph Mccarthy! I won't be grateful to you even if you saved me!"
Joseph said, "You don't have to be grateful to me. You just have to stay alive, and remember that I died for you."
As soon as he was done speaking, he placed the gun on the ground and kicked it away.
The next second, the person on the ground grabbed the gun, and shot at Joseph without hesitating.
