Chapter 1087 You Are Looking For Death
"You, h-how are you h-here?" Waverly stuttered.
All sorts of guesses went through her mind.
She suspected that Joseph had sent someone to follow her, but she immediately dismissed this idea.
If Joseph's people followed her, she wouldn't even have been able to board the plane, but she would have been brought to Joseph instead.
However, how did he find her?
She was certain that he was able to make use of his resources to find out that she had come to Mexiland.
It was incredible that he could find her within such a short time.
"I called you but your phone was turned off. Were you on the plane? Nowadays, you don't need to turn off your phone during a plane ride," Waverly calmed down and quickly changed the subject.
Joseph remained silent while looking at her slyly. Pursing his lips, he stayed quiet.
"Yesterday, when I left, my phone was turned off..." Waverly wanted to explain. However, she realized that going to Mexiland was already such a big matter, and she should have told him about it just as she left the hotel.
However, she had said nothing, because she didn't want him to know.
Nothing would work if she used that excuse.
"I came here because I have something to do, so I left without saying goodbye," Waverly said simply.
Joseph's face softened a little. He sat on the swing next to her and looked at the river, still keeping silent.
The longer he stayed quiet, the more her heart tightened. She had no idea what Joseph was thinking about.
Joseph turned towards her slowly, his eyes meaningful.
Waverly couldn't understand what she was looking at. She could only maintain the same posture.
All of a sudden, Joseph reached out and grabbed the back of her head, placing his lips on hers.
Waverly didn't pull back, only closing her eyes. Bellamy's smile and Yasmine's arrogant look flashed through her mind, but her mind turned blank in the end.
Joseph kissed her hard, and before letting go, he bit her.
Waverly felt pain as she opened her eyes and looked at the river in front of her.
Joseph still failed to let go of her, tasting where she had bled. He kissed her for another minute before finally letting her go.
Waverly looked at him calmly and said nothing else.
Wiping the corner of her mouth, Joseph said incredibly seriously and sharply, "If it weren't for that phone call, you'd be dead."
Waverly touched the ground lightly as she swayed on the swing, "You thought I ran away?"
Joseph smiled, "Do you think you could?"
Waverly looked over at Joseph, her gaze ethereal. Smiling, she said, "If I wanted to run, I wouldn't return to M Country anymore. You should know my personality. Once I've decided something, no one can change my mind."
Joseph lifted Waverly's chin, "What have you decided?"
"To be your wife, to be your only one," Waverly replied.
Joseph paused, unable to believe what he had just heard. Narrowing his eyes, he asked warily, "Are you telling the truth?"
"Do I look like I'm lying?" Waverly retorted.
"Why do I feel that you are deceiving me all the time?" Joseph said firmly, kissing Waverly again. "Whether you're telling the truth or not, I have already taken it seriously. If you are fooling me, I promise that I will engrave myself in your memories, even if I turn to ash."
"Even if you've turned to ash now, I will still remember you. However, if you turn to ash in the future, I promise that I won't be able to recognize you. Since you're already ash, you're no different from the things that are burned in a garbage dump," Waverly said.
Joseph pursed his lips, pinching Waverly's face, "Are you tired of living?"
"Since telling the truth upsets you, why don't I tell lies instead?" Waverly said.
Joseph stood up, pulling Waverly along.
"Where are we going?" Waverly asked subconsciously.
"I'm upset now, so where else do you think we would go?" Joseph teased.
Waverly had a bad feeling.
Joseph was always too powerful whenever he did the deed, and he had no self-control at all.
She had run away last night. It was likely that he wanted to do that.
Waverly stopped and said, "I want to ride a boat. It looks exciting."
Joseph turned back, looking at her with scrutiny, "Are you afraid that I'll do something to you?"
"I think you're the one who's afraid. You're afraid that Yasmine will fly into a rage once she sees us together," Waverly provoked.
Joseph smirked, "Do you know that Beckham's men are following you 24/7?"
Waverly was shocked. She frowned, feeling puzzled, "His men are following me, yet you still dared to kiss me?"
"So, you think that I'm afraid?" Joseph says arrogantly.
Waverly's shame turned into anger, "First and foremost, I think you are being irrational."
Joseph pinched her face, his eyes becoming fierce, "Are you afraid that he'll show Bellamy the photos he took?"
Waverly pushed aside Joseph's hand, saying coldly, "I'm afraid that your weakness will be exposed to Beckham. If that happened, even if you were to be a king, you would remain a pawn on the chessboard."
Joseph picked her up in a bridal carry.
Subconsciously, Waverly grabbed onto Joseph's arm.
His abrupt actions had caught her off guard.
Waverly said seriously, "I'm not joking. People like Beckham may be your friends now, but they might become your enemies in the next moment. You are being irrational by exposing yourself in front of your enemies like that."
"I've taken control of his men a long time ago. My spies are everywhere. Don't worry, both of us are quite safe," Joseph said confidently.
Waverly frowned.
So, he had brought up Beckham's men just to scare her.
Joseph's evil nature was ingrained in his very being.
She didn't want to talk to him anymore.
He was acting crazy.
Maybe it was a good thing that they would be doing the deed soon. That way, he wouldn't pester her at night as she still had to go to the black market.
"Want to ride the boat?" Joseph asked.
Waverly had no idea what he was trying to do, so she kept her mouth shut.
Joseph smiled, "Let's go boating."
Once again, Waverly was confused by his nonsensical behavior.
No one could figure out his thoughts and what he wanted to do.
Joseph put her down, heading to the dock. He bought an ice cream, taking a bite as he stared at her.
Waverly was staring at him in confusion.
Joseph smiled, "Want a bite?"
Looking at his arrogant face, a scene seemed to flash through her mind. She remembered the time when she was very young, on his birthday, he had had a large cake. Back then, he had asked her if she wanted to eat.
As an innocent, naïve child who was unaware of such schemes, she nodded her head.
He took a piece of cake and handed it to her.
Just when she thought he was going to give her the cake, he smashed the cake on her face and then turned away with a smile.
She failed to find it funny and also didn't understand his prank.
Couldn't he simply give her a piece of cake?
She would thank him if she ate it. He would only lose a piece of cake at most.
However, he didn't do so. He not only lost a piece of cake, people hated him.
Back then, she had felt that he was quite stupid. She didn't even understand why everyone around him, including adults, liked him. It was as if she was the only one who hated him in the entire world.
