Chapter 983 It's Better Off In Pieces

Joseph passed by the window and continued to move forward.
"Stop daydreaming. He seems to be in a relationship with Miss Filthy. She has just returned from abroad. He's probably here to pick Miss Filthy up after work," Judie stretched her neck and looked outside.
Waverly turned her attention back to her book and looked at it indifferently. She picked up her mobile phone and dialed Joseph's number.
He did not pick up.
The corners of her lips curled into a scornful smile. Was he worried that his legitimate girlfriend would be wary of her?
She dialed his number once again.
Consequently, her phone number was blocked by Joseph.
His blocking her was within her expectations. It would be pleasant if he no longer came and bothered her anymore.
It was five o'clock in the evening, time to get off work. She picked up her bag and got ready to punch out.
"Waverly, why are you getting off work so early?" Judie asked in a precarious tone.
"Don't we get off of work at five in the evening?" Waverly asked lightly.
"Us assistants need to wait for further instructions. The directors of the Ministry of External Affairs haven't gotten off work yet," Judie reminded.
"Then, I'll have to trouble you to wait for them," Waverly ignored her and walked out of the office. Unfortunately, she bumped into Joseph and Yasmine.
She had no idea what to do, so she just strode past them and the doors immediately.
Yasmine looked at Waverly's back and gnashed her teeth in hatred, but she could not lose her temper in front of Joseph. She smiled and asked tentatively, "Is she living with the Mccarthy family now?"
Joseph nodded and said, "For the time being. My uncle really appreciates her."
"I heard Auntie Qianna talk about her before. It seems that she doesn't like Waverly a lot and she said that she seduces men really well. I asked her to leave when we had a meeting today, but do you know what she said to me?" Yasmine said.
The corners of Joseph's mouth curled up with interest. "What did she say?" he replied.
"She really pisses me off. She said that I didn't deserve to be the minister and that I must have gotten the position through some unspeakable means. I was really irritated then. She acted incredibly arrogantly. I heard that she's only younger than me by a few months, but she comes off as older than Auntie Qianna."
Joseph's eyes sparkled, looking as if he was intoxicated with love.
"You're still smiling. I heard that both of you haven't been on good terms since childhood. Was she this unruly when she was a child?" Yasmine continued to ask.
"A little, I guess. Besides, by Auntie Qianna, are you referring to Qianna Maccarthy?" Joseph raised his eyebrows.
Yasmine smiled, "Auntie Qianna is kind and easy to get along with. She held a banquet before and invited me several times. Unfortunately, Waverly went too far as to actually seducing Auntie Qianna's husband. Isn't the President of A Country handsome enough already?"
The expression on Joseph's face turned cold and his voice became indifferent. "Who do you think is more handsome? The president from A country or me?" he inquired.
She blushed and said affectionately, "He has chiseled facial features, refined yet not too flamboyant. Although his face is pleasing to the eye, he has a strong presence, which makes him seem unapproachable. It's as if he belongs in those fairy tales. You are more handsome and flamboyant. I prefer your style more."
He frowned and seemed frustrated, "Do you mean that I look more down-to-earth?"
"No, it's not that. It's just that he's too dreamy and you suit my aesthetic standards more," she replied.
"Your standard? What about other people's?" he became even more unhappy.
"I don't mean it that way. In fact, if the two of you were to be judged according to appearance, the both of you would be a solid 9.8 out of 10. Everyone has different personal preferences, hobbies and aesthetic views. There will be some deviation in people's hearts. Besides, he's older than us and is at least forty years old. In my eyes, he's like an old uncle," Yasmine explained with a smile.
Joseph's eyebrows knitted even more tightly, "Old uncles like him are quite popular among girls, aren't they?"
"I suppose so. Waverly seems to like him very much."
Joseph's eyes instantly froze over, becoming as cold as ice. He glanced at Waverly, who was walking in front of him and said, "Since she bullied you today, do you want me to bully her back?"
"You'll do that?" Yasmine was surprised and took the initiative to hold his arm.
"Yes," Joseph said as he looked at Waverly's back gloomily. He gritted his teeth and said, "She's always had a bad brain since she was a child."
"Huh?" Yasmine looked at Joseph in confusion.
Joseph did not let her see his expression and said to her, "Quick, let's go."
"Alright," Yasmine replied as she walked faster to catch up to him.
When Yasmine saw Waverly's car, she pouted and got even more jealous, "She's so rich. That car must be worth tens of millions. I've always wanted one."
"Get in the car." Joseph opened the door and smirked flamboyantly. "That one's only tens of millions of dollars. My car has been remodeled and is worth a few hundred million dollars. You don't even have to drive it. A free driver comes with it. Get in the car. I'll take you out for a spin."
"Haha, it's great to have you," Yasmine said as she sat in the passenger seat.
Joseph drove at an incredibly high speed of 180km per hour.
Waverly saw Joseph and Yasmine getting into the car from her rearview mirror. She wanted to go back now and wait for Bobe's news. She waited at the side and deliberately let them leave first.
Joseph's eyes were fixed on Waverly's car as he sped up and drove towards the direction of her car.
Before Waverly could react, she heard a loud bang.
The car automatically activated its emergency system, stopped and the safety air cushion popped out.
The force of Joseph's collision was so fierce that she still felt the pain although she had already hit the air cushion.
"Has Joseph gone insane?" Waverly pondered.
She turned her head in anger. The car's trunk was completely smashed.
The corner of Joseph's mouth curled up, looking incredibly sarcastic. His car was unscathed and he just called the police leisurely.
Waverly was so angry that smoke started coming out of her head, agitated. She opened the door, got out and approached Joseph's car.
Joseph's gaze was locked on hers, not even bothering to roll down the windows.
"You treat your new car like this?" Waverly said deliberately.
With a smile, he increased the volume of the sound system in the car and asked Yasmine, "Are you satisfied?"
Yasmine happily swayed along with the music, "Your car is quite fancy. You can't hear the sound outside at all. You probably wouldn't be able to hear anything even if others are honking at you though. Isn't that too dangerous?"
"There's a microphone system. It's fine as long as it's turned on. Do you want to hear her cursing now?" Joseph asked.
"Of course not." Yasmine provocatively looked at Waverly. "It feels so good to listen to music while watching her get angry."
Waverly sneered and looked at the people inside who were having the time of their lives. It was expected that they couldn't hear her voice.
The angrier she got, the happier they would become.
It was as if she was a clown entertaining them.
Joseph was the one who had insisted on buying the car for her anyways. She couldn't care less about it.
After all, it was better off in pieces.
