Chapter 907 Do You Like the Gift?

All of a sudden, a cloak of awkwardness hung heavy in the atmosphere. Waverly, too, felt very uncomfortable. "I'll put on some clothes. You should wait outside."
"Mm." Bellamy took a step back and closed the door for her. The earlier spectacle flashed across his mind, making him a little frustrated. He walked to the table, poured a large glass of cold water, and downed it.
Waverly went out once she had some clothes on.
Bellamy looked back at her and tried to pretend that nothing had happened. He handed her the sunglasses in his hand and said, "It's still early. Let's go out for a walk."
"Bell, I just had a look at the video. Actually, we just need to officially prove that I'm not in the one in the video," Waverly explained.
"Alright, but let's put this matter away first. We're on holiday, so we should have our share of fun as much as we want. It's still a little cold outside, not as warm as we had expected. You should wear a long dress instead before going out," Bellamy advised, changing the topic.
Waverly happened to bring along a long white dress, so she changed into that and went out.
He held her hand naturally.
He was aware that he shouldn't be so intimate with her, but he couldn't resist holding her hand. Before Waverly could react, her hand was already in his grasp. It would seem too conspicuous if he were to let go. Hence, he just held on to her hand as they went out.
There was a large beach in front of their villa. Since it was a private beach, it was also surrounded by an iron fence.
Barefooted, Waverly walked into the water.
The seawater wasn't so cold under the sunshine. As the waves rolled towards her, clumps of sand were washed away under their feet, giving off a feeling of softness but slightly itchy.
Waverly saw reefs beside her. "There should be plenty of crabs under the rocks. I think that there's a lot of fish too."
"The fishes here slip away like lightning. You can't catch them with bare hands, so we have to use a net. They'll get stuck in it. Later, I'll ask someone to cast a net into the sea. We could check if there's any fish in it once we're back from diving later in the afternoon," Bellamy said.
Waverly was happy. She felt that this was the happiest day of her life. She could forget her troubles and have a good time with her beloved. "Pity I don't have a long-sleeved swimsuit, otherwise I could have a whole lot of fun."
"There should be some on sale here. I've sent someone to buy one for you. They'll definitely send it over by noon," Bellamy said softly.
Waverly turned her head to see Bellamy standing up straight. It was said that men would look old and tired once they reached their threshold of the forties. For a 41-year-old, the attrition of time had indeed spared Bellamy. At most, he looked like he was in his thirties. He was mature, reserved, sunny, and handsome.
She turned around and hugged Bellamy.
Bellamy was stunned. His body went stiff, yet he didn't push her away. Lowering his head and looking down at her, he asked gently, "What's wrong?"
"Could you hold me like this and take a picture of us?" Waverly replied.
"Of course," Bellamy said dotingly.
Waverly took out her phone to take a picture of themselves. However, she was much shorter than Bellamy. Regardless of how she took the pictures, they turned out to be less than acceptable.
Bellamy took Waverly's phone and elevated it above them. The two of them turned to face the phone camera. After taking several consecutive shots, he handed the phone to Waverly and said, "Have a look. If they are not up to your liking, we could always try again."
Waverly picked up her phone and scanned the photos.
Bellamy wasn't smiling. Instead, he had a vague expression on his face, and it evoked a melancholic feeling in her. The usual Bellamy would never be parsimonious with his smiles.
That was fine. This expression of his was rarely seen and worth treasuring.
"You're so handsome. It seemed that you'd always look good no matter what," Waverly said with a smile.
Bellamy suddenly let out a smile, touched her nose and put his arm around her waist. "Let's walk towards the sea. Are you afraid of it?"
"With you around, I'm not afraid of anything," Waverly said firmly.
"Why are you behaving like a child?" Bellamy said with a ring of tenderness. However, the force he exerted on her waist was a bit too much, as if he was afraid of losing her.
Waverly was very delighted throughout the trip. They were the happiest days of her life.
Despite this, all good things must come to an end. No vacation could last forever. Eventually, they had to go home.
On the plane...
Waverly wasn't as happy as she was when they arrived. She continued to watch the inflight movie that she had not been able to finish before landing. Her thoughts were all over the place.
The 8th, 9th, and finally, the 10th.
It was only two days away from the 10th, the day Bellamy would announce that he would divorce her.
On the 10th, she would return to M Country. That would mark the beginning of her battles.
The movie's ending wasn't a satisfying one. The female lead died and the male lead scattered her ashes across the sea. He didn't want to live by himself, so he stood in the middle of a road and ended his life in a car accident.
Tears were trickling down Waverly's face as she watched.
Actually, she hoped that she could experience this kind of love. Even if it couldn't last long, it could still be passionate and genuine.
What a pity. She had been so passionate for her entire life, only to have never been loved by anyone.
"If there's a man who could put my life ahead of his, I'll fall in love with him," Waverly muttered to herself.
Bellamy looked at Waverly, his eyes darkened. "You'll definitely meet someone. You're that great of a person that it'll take someone extraordinary to be your match."
"I hope that he'll show up sooner and not let me wait until my hair's all white. Once I see him for the first time, I'll tell him off, saying, 'Why didn't you appear when I was twenty, why did you make me wait for so long?' I'd been feeling so dismayed,'" Waverly said jokingly.
"If you have any problems, you could always call me," Bellamy advised.
"Mm," Waverly responded. "Bell, I'm tired. I'm going to sleep."
"Go ahead. Have a good rest," Bellamy said, allowing her to lean on him.
Waverly closed her eyes. She couldn't be sure if the plane was the reason for her splitting headache. After a long time, she seemed to have fallen asleep. However, just as the plane was landing, her ears started hurting so much that it jolted her out of her sleep.
"Are we almost there?" Waverly asked.
Bellamy handed her a glass of tomato juice and said, "Yes, have a good rest later tonight. If the pain's still there after the drink, you'll have to yawn twice."
Waverly took the glass from his hand and drank the juice all in one gulp. The effect was less noticeable than the yawns.
When they arrived and went out of the plane cabin, a gust of wind blew towards them. It was so cold. Waverly retracted her neck.
Bellamy draped his coat on Waverly and held her shoulder as they made their way to their ride.
His phone rang.
At the sight of an unfamiliar number, he answered it with suspicion.
"Are you back?" Sean's voice came from the other end of the phone.
"You're very well-informed," Bellamy said with a grin.
"I have to be. Do you like the gift that I've sent you?" Sean asked.
"Gift?" Bellamy wondered.
"I encouraged them to release a more recent video. As long as you can prove that it's not Waverly in the video, you can invalidate the first video. That way, you and Waverly will not have to divorce. Since you didn't interrupt my celebration with Eli, I'd like to grant one of your wishes," Sean explained.
Bellamy remained silent. Logically, he had deduced that Sean might possibly be up to no good, but his emotion encouraged him to believe in it, and gratitude swelled in him. "Thank you."
"Don't mention it. Happy New Year," Sean said as he hung up the phone.
Bemused, Reuben looked at Sean. "I don't understand why you helped Bellamy. If he doesn't divorce Waverly, Beckham wouldn't be able to promote the Mccarthys. And if the Mccarthys aren't promoted, the Griswells would be able to catch their breath and they wouldn't clear your name. If they don't clear your name, you wouldn't be able to go back to A Country."
Sean smirked...
