Chapter 894 Impulsive Yet Heartbreaking
Eli slept until almost noon, and she woke up to Sean's absence.
Still yawning, she grumbled to get out of bed. After washing up, and with her hair still tousled, she went out to look for Sean.
She heard his voice floating from the study. "Let's put it off for another few days, there's no rush. Wouldn't it be better if we all stay home and spend time with our families during the New Year? I have something else to attend to. It will be a couple of days before I go back. That's it, I know. That's all."
Sean's tone had already grown disagreeable when he reached the last sentence. It smacked of impatience and unwillingness to yield.
Eli's heart stuttered and sank.
She knew that he would be leaving soon.
With him around, each of her days was enlivened. She often spent time with Sean watching TV on the couch, playing games together, enjoying delicacies together, and even going for a run.
No matter what they did, they were thick as thieves.
Her sense of loss was growing bigger. She wished she could turn into Thumbelina. If so, she could fit in his pocket and be with him forevermore.
As Sean opened the door, he was met with Eli standing in the doorway of his study.
He figured she had overheard the conversation earlier. Where she was concerned, his gaze was fond. Bereft of a word, he held her tightly in his arms.
Eli smiled. As she recalled Maple, her mind seemed to be calmed down. Trying to appear blase, she patted Sean's back and said, "Durable love shall withstand the time apart, regardless of our physical locations. You can video call me in secret."
Sean looked at Eli, reluctance taking over his eyes.
Beaming, Eli's eyebrows arched into the shape of a moon, as if it had fallen into the milky way. Her ethereal beauty had only grown stronger.
"You are not allowed to seduce other men. If another man likes you, make sure that you fend them off, especially to that kid who wrote you a love letter. That boy has grown up. You must reject him, do you hear me?" Sean instructed.
"If he approaches me again, I'll turn him down. But I do think that it's just one of their pranks. They might be playing truth or dare, or something."
Sean was unconvinced.
He couldn't leave her by herself.
"I'll be leaving three days later. I'll have Reuben come over and take care of you while I'm gone."
"Really?" Eli's eyes lit up. She was quite taken with Reuben. However, it wasn't the kind of affection between a man and a woman, but it leaned more towards ones that bound family members together.
After all, Reuben treated her well. If it wasn't for the shot Reuben took for her, she would have died long ago.
"Don't you dare seduce Reuben," Sean reminded.
"Don't worry. I think of Reuben as a brother. Stella knows a lot of outstanding girls, I'll introduce one to him," Eli said cavalierly.
"He saved your life. I'm thinking of purchasing a villa in Snowie Town for him. In the future, we can take care of each other. He's very attentive, not to mention, knowledgeable. He's the right person to look after a spontaneous person like you," Sean said gently.
Eli gave a thumbs up, "Excellent."
Sean looked at her lively demeanor and lowered his head to kiss her.
However, Eli immediately covered her lips. "I haven't had anything yet. I'm famished."
Sean could only relent to her whims. "Okay, let's eat first."
"After eating, let's have a three-hundred-round battle," Eli said enchantingly.
A crystal light passed through Sean's eyes. "Okay."
After eating, they battled several rounds in certain places.
Eli felt like weeping. By battle, she had meant playing games.
However, seeing that Sean would be leaving in a couple of days, she wanted to be self-centered for once. After all, there was no telling when they would see each other again. If they could be together, why not make the most out of the time they were given?
......
Meanwhile, Waverly also shared the same sentiment. They were going to be separated soon, and she didn't want to leave Bellamy for even a second.
However, as early as the next morning, Bellamy was nowhere to be sighted in the house.
In the past, he would tell her about his plans. He'd analyze it for her, and teach her everything little by little.
But alas, their divorce was inexorable, and everything he did would soon be irrelevant to her.
He left, leaving not a notice.
Waverly did not press for an answer either. She put on her down jacket and went out as well. It was still snowing outside. The snow had piled up five or six centimeters thick since the night before. Stamping one's feet would leave upon the white sheet a set of deep footprints.
She went to check on the hyacinths she had planted. They were all buried in the snow, their survival uncertain.
As she tilted her head at the sky, the whiteness filled every inch of her eyes. Beautiful though it was, it was also desolate. After all, winter itself was a bringer of desolation.
As she sauntered along the lake, the wind brushed coldly against her face.
At that moment, her cell phone rang. She reached for it and saw that it was an unfamiliar caller ID. Only after she removed her gloves that she answered the phone.
"Where are you?" Lenold's voice rang from the other end of the line.
But even so, Waverly's mood was surprisingly calm. If it had been before, she would have said, "Where I am is no business of yours."
However, the old Waverly was dead.
"Why are you looking for me?" Waverly asked. She crouched down and pressed her fingers into the snow, leaving fingerprints. Feeling that it was rather childish, the corners of her lips lifted in tandem.
"I'm divorced from Qianna," Lenold expressed.
"I know. I knew it yesterday. Qianna couldn't let you go. She even called and lashed out at me," Waverly giggled.
"To me, this divorce is a blessing. I tried to get a divorce before but failed. I didn't think I could get so much now that I'm divorced. I don't want to stay in M Country anymore. Now that I have enough money, all I want is to be with you. From now on, I'll be good to you. You'll be the only one I have in my mind and heart," Lenold confessed.
Waverly's lips twitched. She then stood up. Perhaps due to her low blood sugar level, she was a little dizzy. Losing balance, she suddenly fell on one knee in the snow.
When Waverly didn't speak, Leonard thought she had lost her connection. He called out, "Waverly. Waverly."
At the verbal nudge, Waverly came back to her senses. Gradually, she stood up and asked, "Why do you like me?"
"What's with the 'why'? Ever since you saved me, you have conquered every inch of my heart."
"I'm in every inch of your heart, yet you still slept with Qianna. What if I wasn't in every inch of your heart someday? What do you think would happen?" Sarcasm was evident in Waverly's words.
"I've explained many times about this. It was Qianna who seduced me while I was drunk. I thought she was you. She threatened me with that..."
"Lenold, why don't you be a little more straightforward?" Waverly interrupted him, "She satisfied your desire. Otherwise, you wouldn't have slept with her over and over again. At that time, you did it willingly. You knew very well what kind of person she is. But although you have slept with Qianna, you'll never fall for her. Instead, you'll feel empty inside. I, on the other hand, am special to you because I saved your life."
"Yes, I did have some impulses for Qianna, but whenever I thought of you, I regretted it afterwards..."
