Chapter 964 Are You Happy?

The corners of her mouth raised slightly. "I won't die. Trust me, remember what I just told you. Don't let him find out. If you don't want to lie, then just don't report it."
"There's no way I can do that. If I don't report it, someone will come and ask me for information immediately," Hayley explained.
She looked over towards Joseph's subordinate's direction and thought about something for a moment. Not too long after, she added, "Let her come along. She won't cause any trouble. I promise."
"Heh," the man sneered. "If you want to die, then come with me."
Hayley helped Waverly walk to the car.
She tried to behave normally as if nothing had happened. She did her best to walk as she usually did. However, as she had lost her sight, and her pace didn't match Hayley's, she nearly walked into the car. Thankfully, Hayley pulled her back at the last minute.
Frowning slightly, Waverly got into the car and shut her eyes.
Well, it was better for her to close her eyes than open them and still not see anything.
Hayley looked at her with concern. All this time her brows were still tightly knitted together.
She wanted to tell the President that Waverly wasn't in good shape. She wanted him to bring her somewhere far away. Her heart ached to see her being all alone.
More than half an hour later, they reached another one of Joseph's residences.
"Madam, there are a lot of staircases here. I'll carry you on my back," Hayley urged.
"You can't carry me."
"I can carry a man. There's no room for argument for someone as petite as you," Hayley chided back. After getting out of the car, she squatted by the door, waiting for Waverly to get onto her back.
Although she couldn't see, Waverly could feel the figure of Hayley's body.
She held her hand and placed it on her shoulder.
She didn't want Hayley to carry her. This little girl was too young and she was afraid that she would crush her.
Before Waverly had the chance to pull her hand back, Hayley had already stood up and balanced her on her back.
Waverly really did feel that she was too tiny to carry her. After all, she was only as tall as her shoulders. This made her feel bad on the inside.
"Put me down," Waverly requested in distress.
"Madam, you're too light. The blocks of wood I used to carry are several times heavier than you. Having you on my back feels like I'm carrying air. Don't worry, I'm very strong. Remember how I took down those two men earlier?" Hayley reminded her as she carried her up the stairs.
Waverly didn't say anything.
Well, it was not like Hayley would let her down.
On the other hand, she was actually blind. If she was to walk on her own, she wouldn't be able to adapt to the height of the staircase, which would be a nuisance for her.
After stepping off the ninety-ninth step, Hayley stepped through a tall door frame before finally setting Waverly down.
The sight of Joseph sitting on a wooden chair carved with intricate flowers greeted the both of them. Staring at Waverly gloomily, he interrogated, "What pill did you give to my mother?"
She smiled.
"It's good to be blind after all. That way, I can't see the people who I don't want to see," she thought.
"You scared her to death." Seeing that her eyes weren't even on him, Joseph felt even more furious. It was as if rays of fire could shoot out from his eyes at any second.
She did not speak.
Judging by the way he was treating her now, Hayley could more or less tell how their normal conversations usually flowed.
Since she was already there, she had to go all the way. Hayley spat at him angrily, "It was Giselle who beat her up first. Madam was beaten black and blue, and now she's lost her vision. If I didn't put a stop to it in time, she would've ended up dead."
"What!" Joseph's gaze immediately flickered towards her. He walked up to Waverly and sized her up and down.
There was no expression in her eyes, and she was as calm as still water.
There was no hate, rage, love, hatred, perseverance, or signs of anything in them. It was as if the sun and moon had lost their ray of light, or as if the flowers had lost their fragrant scent.
"Go to a hospital," Joseph ordered angrily.
"Sir, Madam Giselle still wants an explanation from you," Yadriel reminded.
Joseph glanced at him sharply and yelled, "I said go to the hospital. Didn't you hear me?"
Naturally, Yadriel didn't dare to disobey him, so he lowered his head and replied obediently, "Yes, sir."
All of a sudden, Waverly felt someone pick her up.
Although she couldn't see, she could feel the taut muscles on the arms of this person. The person also had a very tall figure, and his breathing was strong and overbearing.
Well, this had to be Joseph.
Not saying a word, he placed her on the seat and sat beside her.
Waverly guessed that when she lost one sense, the other four of her senses became even sharper.
She could hear his breathing, and it sounded intense and inconsistent.
"Are you happy now?" He grumbled in a low voice.
"Do you think I'm happy?" She retorted as the corners of her mouth were slightly raised.
"Isn't this what you want? Maybe the reason behind you irking my mother is so that she'd have it out for you. If you even have an inch of a brain within you, you should know rationally what to do and what not to do," he did his best not to lash out at her.
"You're smart, and you should know what the rational move was. If Madam Lenny finds out about our relationship, what do you think will happen?" Waverly commented calmly.
"I have my ways of ensuring that it doesn't happen. I'm sure you have your own ways of keeping yourself safe, too. Or did you think my mother would scold me if she found out? No, she can't control me. Since she can't do anything to me, then she'd take it out on you. Don't you understand that?" Joseph remarked.
She took a deep breath. Of course, she understood all of it. That's why she didn't even say a word, even if she was blind now.
"I can't see anything now, and there's no point in you wanting me anymore."
"Well, that's up to me," he shouted angrily. He looked out of the window and took a few deep breaths, trying his best to gather his feelings instead of lashing out any time now.
A minute later, he sounded even colder than before. "Initially, I thought you would return and try to stop me with all sorts of methods. I even thought I would be able to watch your different ways. Well, jokes on you then, you're just showing me how you're barely alive. What a disappointment."
She clenched her fists and frowned. A stream of hatred flashed in her blind eyes.
Oh, how easily these words slip out of his tongue. When she came back, she knew that it was going to be a bargain. She didn't have the capability to do what he wanted, but only the determination.
"You really think highly of me, but this wasn't anything like back when we were studying. Back then, all I needed to do was put in the effort and I'd see results. Now, no matter how hard I try, I'm no match for you," she added more coldly.
Joseph gripped her chin and his cold breath fell across her face. "Then you should know even better now how things are going to play out. If you adhere to my request, I'll make sure you live a happy life, but if you don't, I'll make sure your life is like living in hell. Even if you move to another country, I have my ways of making sure you suffer. Besides, I might get bored with you and let you go. If that happens, you may return to Bellamy and become his slave."
Waverly lowered her gaze. "He will not treat me as a slave."
"Of course, in his eyes, you don't deserve to be a slave." He shoved her away angrily. Gritting his teeth angrily, the fire rose in his eyes. Forcing himself onto her, he smashed his lips into hers and shoved his hands under her shirt...
