Chapter 998 I Want To Marry You

Waverly realized that it was Qianna. Ever since she made peace with Lenold, she had not made an appearance for a very long time.
Waverly was surprised to see her.
"What's the matter?" Waverly asked coldly.
"Thomson came to me and asked me to introduce someone to you. I'll be holding a banquet at my place tonight. You should come. However, don't flirt with Lenold again. Otherwise, you'd better watch out," Qianna warned.
Waverly had already thought it through - the matter of finding a partner. She could only find someone who was from the Harington family. Only then would she have the ability to go against Joseph.
The Harington and Mccarthy family didn't get along well with each other. Plus, her status and background were not something that could be proud of, so she had to let go of her other ideas for now.
"Thank you for your kindness, Qianna, but there is no need for that," Waverly rejected her invitation.
Qianna raised her eyebrows and looked at Waverly suspiciously. "Are you telling me you still have hopes for Lenold?"
Waverly smiled. "I'm afraid you're overthinking. It's just that I have my eyes on someone else."
"Someone else? And who's that?" Qianna asked attentively.
A hint of cunningness flashed across Waverly's eyes, and she answered calmly, "He is sleeping in my room now. You can go and have a look."
Qianna pursed her lips and walked upstairs immediately.
"Madam." Hayley glanced worriedly over at Qianna's back and whispered nervously, "If she sees Joseph, wouldn't she use this against you?"
"Correction, she won't use this against me, but she would against Joseph. Qianna is a trouble-maker, she's sure to stir up something for Joseph in the future," Waverly replied indifferently, looking as if a million complex thoughts were running circles in her head. She was not afraid to die, if it came to that.
In that moment of calmness, Hayley finally started to feel more at ease. If Waverly assured her that everything would be fine, so it would.
Qianna pushed the door open, and the noise jolted Joseph awake. He instantly sat up in bed and stared at the intruder, Qianna.
Qianna's eyes widened in shock. "You...Why, why are you here? You and Waverly…. You and Waverly are together? But you're cousins."
He got up from the bed and walked to the bathroom nonchalantly with a blank look on his face. He brushed his teeth and started washing up.
Qianna stayed frozen in a daze. She could not believe this. As she heard the water running from the bathroom, her eyes started glistening with a thick layer of hatred and jealousy.
Waverly had hooked up with Joseph. No wonder she was so fearless.
The two primary forces of the Mccarthy family, Joseph and Thomson, seemed to have become Waverly's men.
At the thought of this, Qianna was instantly enraged.
Joseph emerged from the bathroom, looking tired and irritated. Without sufficient sleep, his temper ran particularly short. He began staring daggers at Qianna.
When Weldon was still around, Qianna had someone to support her.
As soon as Weldon was gone, Qianna went back to being afraid of this nephew of hers.
"Joseph, what the hell is going on?" Qianna asked nervously, her face an ashen shade.
"Tell me, what did you see?" Joseph shouted.
Qianna pointed at Joseph, but she didn't understand the meaning of his words. She rolled her eyes and explained, "I came here because Thomson instructed me to introduce someone to Waverly."
Joseph's eyes turned colder. He walked over towards Qianna and stared down at her. "If you've seen something that you shouldn't, then you should erase it from your memory. If there's something that you should say, then you should do so. But if you spurt nonsense, I'll cut your tongue out. You can do things out of goodwill, but if you do something that angers me, you can bid your limbs goodbye. And if you're scheming something vicious, then I'll rip your heart out. Do you understand me?"
"I, I..." As Qianna fell into a stuttering mess, she suddenly remembered that Joseph was going to marry Yasmine this year. Then, an idea took root in her mind. "I won't tell anyone, but it's all Waverly's fault. She insisted that I come and take a look, so I did," she explained, trying to defend herself.
Joseph sneered and stared at Qianna. "Leave. If anyone finds out about this, you won't live to see the next sunrise. Got it?"
Qianna's face turned even paler. She nodded and turned to leave.
He gritted his teeth and went downstairs, heading straight to the kitchen.
The atmosphere in the kitchen suddenly changed with his presence. It seemed as if the lively elements in the air had condensed, and the pressure was so low that it could suffocate someone.
Hayley looked worriedly at Waverly, who was still busy peeling the lettuce.
She went on cooking the dishes as if she hadn't noticed Joseph's presence.
"Get out," Joseph ordered as he fixed his gaze on Waverly's back.
Hayley was afraid that Joseph would hurt Waverly, so she stood her ground and did not dare to leave.
Joseph glanced at Hayley with a murderous look in his eyes. Just as he was about to strike Hayley, he heard Waverly say, "Hayley, help me buy two bottles of red wine."
"Madam," Hayley called out worriedly.
"Buy some fruit, too. Go on," Waverly continued before turning around to face Joseph directly.
Hayley, upon noticing that Waverly showed any signs of weakness, bowed her head and left.
Joseph kicked the door close and started probing/ "You're the one who let Qianna upstairs."
"Yes." Waverly did not try to deny it.
"How brave of you," Joseph growled as he grabbed Waverly's neck.
Her neck was very thin and narrow. If Joseph exerted enough strength, she would be killed in an instant.
However, Waverly was not afraid at all.
If Joseph really wanted to kill her, he would have done so already. But she was still alive and kicking, which meant that he had no intention of the sort.
Waverly lifted the corners of her mouth and stared at Joseph's face. "Uncle Thomson had asked her to introduce a boyfriend to me," Waverly said calmly.
"Isn't that what you wanted? If you didn't want to, you could just tell Thomson directly. You didn't have to stop Qianna this way," Joseph sneered.
"To be frank, my goal isn't to stop her from introducing a boyfriend to me, but to..." Waverly paused, her eyes unreadable as if there was a black hole hiding all her emotions. She continued faintly, "Marry you in front of Yasmine."
Joseph studied Waverly carefully, and he unconsciously loosened his grip. His hands were no longer touching her skin, and the colors of his face started to fade.
Waverly couldn't tell what he was thinking. Everyone said that the eyes were the windows to the soul, but she couldn't even sense if he had a soul through his eyes.
She didn't know what he would say or do next.
Just as Waverly was still guessing his next move, Joseph lowered his head and kissed her on the lips.
The kiss this time was different from before; it felt nothing like his cold, harsh personality. His lips felt warm, yet hot at the same time. It felt so hot that it could scald a person.
However, he was still as wild, domineering, and forceful as ever. He did not give Waverly any room to refuse his advances.
Waverly couldn't escape. A frown formed on her face. Three minutes later, he released her and stared at her with flames in his eyes. It looked like he had already gotten over Waverly's earlier scheme; the murderous look in his eyes had disappeared and was now replaced with only a fog of profoundness.
