Chapter 1005 You Should Understand What I Mean

"Right now, you can't eat me, though. I want you to be quiet for a while," Waverly muttered.
The wolves failed to understand her, nor would they ever be able to. They continued to bite the bars.
"How stupid, haha." she chuckled. Wasn't she the same as the wolves?
She always insisted on doing the impossible, just because she had that ambition in her heart.
In the end, she was getting starved to death and eaten by the wolves.
Ah, now that she thought of it, it really was tragic.
She only hoped that Bellamy wouldn't find out about her tragic death, for it would be too embarrassing for her.
The sky quickly darkened, and the only dim source of light was that of a faraway streetlamp.
The wolves still had not given up and were still biting the iron bars.
Waverly closed her eyes to rest. After staying in such a terrible environment for a long time, she had gotten used to the pungent smell.
After two more hours, footsteps approached and the lights were lit. A dozen chickens were released into the cage next to her.
Those fluttering chickens immediately attracted the attention of the wolves.
Someone opened the part where the two cages were connected.
The wolves rushed into the next cage filled with chickens.
Someone had also opened the door of her cage.
Joshua came in.
His subordinates opened the cage that held her.
Waverly came out and stared at Joshua indifferently.
"Follow me," Joshua said chillingly.
Waverly sneered, "Do I have any other choice?"
"You could die," Joshua said, his tone even colder than before.
There's still something I want to find before I die. Let's go," Waverly walked forward and got into Joshua's car. When she saw the blindfold on Joshua's seat, she put it on herself, leaned back on the seat, and said nothing.
"What do you exactly want?" Joshua frowned.
Waverly didn't want to talk to him, so she didn't even bother to answer him at all.
"Mr. Mccarthy could give you whatever you desire. What else do you want? Why must you go against him and make him angry?" Joshua said unhappily.
"Joshua, I have read a book about being a slave before. It mentioned that even if one is a slave, if they continue to fight for your freedom, they will still remain as a human being. However, once one gives up, they can only remain a slave," Waverly said calmly.
"So, you think I'm a slave, but I at least still have my conscience. My brother's life was saved by Mr. Mccarthy. Of course, we are loyal to him," he defended.
"You are on his side then," Waverly pulled the blindfold off and locked her sharp gaze on Joshua. "He threw me into a pack of wolves just to help Yasmine vent her frustration at me. What do you think I should do?"
"You were the one who told Yasmine about the chef first. You put Mr. Mccarthy in an unfavorable situation. If it was someone else who betrayed him instead of you, they would have been torn to pieces long ago," Joshua said, gnashing his teeth.
"I put him in a disadvantageous position?" Waverly raised her voice, her tone turning sarcastic. "He was the one who told me about it. Telling Yasmine won't put him in any danger at all, because Yasmine never wanted his love, but his power instead. She would never turn her back on him over a small matter. I was the one who was at a disadvantage."
"Then, why did you have to get yourself into trouble?" Joshua asked in confusion.
Waverly smirked, her gaze determined and her attitude cold, yet arrogant. She said firmly, "If you were to reach a dead-end, would you choose to run away or resolve your problems?"
"You are too stubborn. As long as you rely on Mr. Mccarthy, he can help you solve anything. If you go against him, you will certainly be tortured. As long as you obey him, I'm sure you will be happy," Joshua added.
Waverly found what Joshua's words amusing. He had no idea about Joseph's personality at all. "How many years have you been working for Joseph?" she asked.
"Ten years."
"Oh, only ten years? We've known each other since we were born," Waverly's face darkened. She said with certainty, "I would've been dead by now If I had obeyed him."
"If you continue to act like this, your death will be inevitable," Joshua said angrily, looking at her with hatred in his eyes.
Waverly remained quiet as she put on the blindfold once again and closed her eyes.
As of the previous day, she still had no clue about the reason why Joseph was still keeping her by his side.
If he wanted more beautiful and young women for himself, he would be able to get as many as he wanted at the snap of his fingers.
This day, upon seeing Yasmine, she finally understood that she had been set up as a stepping stone by Joseph so that Yasmine would willingly fall in love with him.
He really was excellent at playing chess.
Two hours later, Waverly was sent to Joseph's villa.
She followed Joshua into Joseph's room.
Joseph threw a limited edition branded bag towards her and said, "This is for you."
Waverly did not catch the bag and let it drop onto the floor.
She said coldly, "I don't need it."
Joseph's frown deepened into a scowl and he continued to glare at her.
"Miss Martell, do you know how difficult it is to buy this bag? Mr. Mccarthy bought it at a price ten times higher than the market price," Joshua interrupted.
"Yasmine also received the same bag as a gift from Mr. Mccarthy, right? How long do you think this bag will stay in my hand? It will only end up becoming a hindrance," Waverly said sarcastically.
Joshua froze for a moment as he had no idea how to retort.
"Get out. I have something to say to Mr. Mccarthy," Waverly ordered coldly.
Joshua glanced at Joseph, went out with his head held down, and closed the door.
Waverly walked towards Joseph and stood in front of him. She raised her chin and looked him in the eye, "Today's play was wonderful. It was astounding. If I were you, I wouldn't need the cage and would have just thrown myself into the wolves' den. To keep the enemy alive is to be cruel to oneself."
Joseph locked his gaze on her tightly and did not answer her question. Instead, he brought up another matter.
He said to her, "You told Bellamy that you wouldn't be entertaining the guests. I should also tell you as promised. Regarding Yazoo's secret, Yazoo had congenital heart disease. That's the reason why Bernald's mother gave Yazoo to Spencer. Without Spencer, Yazoo wouldn't have lived past the age of ten. Yazoo had always been a quiet kid due to his heart disease."
Waverly frowned, "What does that have to do with me?"
"Five years ago, due to Bernald's accidental death, his heart was donated to Yazoo," Joseph said.
Waverly's heart jolted, and there was a strange emotion flowing through her body. Her eyes were a little hazy, but at the same time, she felt more alert and cautious than ever. She asked doubtfully, "What is your purpose in telling me this?"
Joseph laughed in an arrogant and evil manner, "I'd like to know, who is more important to you, Bellamy or Bernald? Do you want to continue to protect Bellamy, or do you want to protect Yazoo's beating heart?"
Waverly's eyebrows knitted more tightly as she screamed, "What the hell do you mean by that?!"
"What do I mean? You are smart, you should understand what I mean," Joseph said firmly.
